So, I but a PS3 to go with the HDTV I bought for my mom, and it has the HDMI cable in spot, and the PS3 has the out... it's all plugged in, like the manual says... From what I gather, it's supposed to work with just that one cable for both audio and video.
...but I've got no picture. The system is turned on, and the green light is on. Is there any particular channel I should have it on? The tv is on channel three right now.
Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

my TV has specific channes. I have to video channels, two component, and 1 HDMI channel. Each coincides with which ports I've plugged things into.

I'm not really sure. Like I have mine hooked up to my tv at my house with the HDMI cable and you can switch through the channels to get to the HDMI thing.
But when I try taking it to other places and playing it, I can't get it to work on any way you hook it up. I've also tried using the red, yellow, and white cables at other places I still can't get it. Does anyone know why?

Before you leave to go to someone else house, you have to change the video output on the PS3 settings. I had that happen when I brought my PS3 to a friends place who didn't have a HDTV. Before you leave the house, plug in the red, yellow, white cords and change the setting on the PS3 from HDMI to standard. You shold be able to get a picture when you bring it to a friends place after

To be accurate, we're talking about inputs, not "channels".
Hook up the PS3 with HDMI to your HDMI input, but also connect the generic yellow/red/white cables (or even just the yellow) to any appropriate input (probably just "Video 1"). When you have a picture on the Video 1 input, you can change your display settings to HDMI. Once you do that, switch over to the HDMI input on your TV and you should have video on the input. Hit OK, then select HDMI for audio and you should be all set.

Look for a "source" type button on your remote.
