Probably the best current U.S. director out there. His directing reminds me of the Coens, just a little more experimental and out there. I haven't even seen Hard Eight or There Will Be Blood yet, so I'm definitely missing out on his whole catalog. But I think he may even be better than Christopher Nolan or me, but the Coens. Anyone else a fan? P.S. the end of Magnolia was brilliant. Here are his movies incase you've seen 'em and didn't know who the director was.. Hard Eight (1996) Boogie Nights (1997) Magnolia (1999) Punch-Drunk Love (2002) - underrated to the core There Will Be Blood (2007/8)

The Coens deserve the directing Oscar this year though.

Yeah, I saw No Country. That's up there with Fargo, Miller's Crossing, and Lebowski in terms of Coen Brothers masterpieces.
I gotta see TWBB this weekend.

I'm going to go see TWBB for a third time soon.
Check out Blood Simple if you haven't already, the Coens' debut which is better than some legendary directors' whole catalogs.

I still haven't seen Blood Simple, couldn't find it for rent or on DVD. I'll have to eBay it. Another great underrated Coen film is The Man Who Wasn't There. Film noir at it's excellence.

Really, eh? I couldn't get into The Man Who Wasn't There at all. And I don't really want to see Intolerable Cruelty or The Ladykillers. But Raising Arizona is by far one of my favorite comedies.

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of my favorite directors of all time, not to be confused with Paul W.S. Anderson, who is a complete turd. His only film I haven't seen is The Hard Eight.
