We should be getting a formal announcement soon one would guess. It was only a matter of time really.

i said right from the start the best thing to do is just sit back, and wait for the winning format to emmerge. and i predicted bluray would win because of the PS3 support. looks like i was right.
Hi Def isn't that big deal anyway, doesn't change your enjoyment of the film really, unless theres a nude scene from a distance or something that is suddenly not so blurry ;D

really saddened by the blu ray win for no other reason then the fact that I want to use my xbox to play hi def movies and obviously xbox is on the HD side of the war.

They've openly said on countless occasions that if the market chooses Blu-Ray, and there is consumer demand, they have no problem allowing a Blu-Ray peripheral.

i still watch VHS tapes, and i only own about 8 DVD's despite owning a DVD player for 7 years. i don't think i'll even look at a Blu Ray disc until the year 2018.
i have a hi-def TV, too. i've always been underwhelmed by the technology. sure, its nice to watch sporting events with a crisp, big screen resolution... but it sure as hell isn't worth the total price tag of the tv and the hd cable package from your cable provider. now i need to buy a special DVD player and special DVD's to see them in the highest def?
