So, how about that whole "George Clooney comparing himself to Hillary Clinton" thing, huh? That's messed up.

And the Academy Award goes to... Billy Bob Thorton in Mr. Woodcock.

Beat me to it.
I'm so glad the writer's strike ended in time for this year's Oscars, as it's the best year for movies this decade. It's my Superbowl.

It's the only award show I watch, even though the academy generally gets it wrong.

I hope No Country takes home the gold. If not, I would be happy with Juno.

I'll be devastated if Juno takes it, I found nothing special about that entire film. No Country or Blood better win it.
And if Blood doesn't win Best Picture Day-Lewis damn well better win Best Actor.

I've got my fingers crossed that Juno doesn't take home Best Picture. I don't even know why it's there. I really enjoyed the movie, but I wouldn't consider it one of the absolute best of the year. Although I was pretty nervous last year that Little Miss Sunshine would upset The Departed and it never did. I'm hoping the same thing goes down this year where, even though the 'feel good' movie started to become the favourite last minute, it didn't end up stealing the favourite. So I'm hoping for 'No Country.'
When I first Juno it I thought, "This movie screams Original Screenplay", and I think it will take it. And that's cool (although I'd really love to see Ratatouille win it).
In general, this year's nominations are pretty fantastic though.

As a chef and a cartoon enthusiast, allow me to state that if Ratatouille doesn't win Best Anmated Feature, I riot.
Although if Persepolis wins, I suppose I'm not allowed to be too mad...as long as it's not Surf's Up.

I hope "No Country" takes it. I loved Juno, but I wouldn't really wanna see it win Best picture. Daniel Day-Lewis NEEDS to take the Oscar home. The man is ing brilliant.

Michael Clayton FTW. The only picture I haven't seen Atonement, it really doesn't appeal to me and from what I understand it doesn't even belong there for it wasn't even a top twenty picture this last year. I'll see it eventually when it goes to a cheaper venue, but I'm expecting to like it. I didn't care for Juno, I thought the main character was annoying and the film making too cliche. TWBB was self serving, many of the sequences were so over the top I couldn't take it seriously and it shifts too dramatically setting up the final two scenes which are very abstract. DDL really carried this picture, without him it just wouldn't have worked. Aside from that and the film wanting it both ways calling too much attention to itself on every level, it is a great piece of daring art, which will necessitate more viewings. NCFOM was really just a great suspense film, many of the sequences had you gripping your seat in anticipation, but that's essentially all it was. Outside of Tommy Lee Jones character they did very little to develop the characters, it was just your basic cat and mouse tale. Michael Clayton was film making at the highest level from the writing, acting, direction, score, cinematography(no nomination ) ect. It's about as flawless of a picture as I've ever seen, which there are very few that have achieved this. I starting to believe that No Country will in fact will the award for best picture and the Coen's for directing, which is precisely my problem with the academy, it's not about who or what should win, but who they are and what they have meant to the industry.

If Depp wins for his talking-singing through Sweeney Todd, I'll be pissed. Clooner, Mortenson, or Lewis better win. Lewis is the must win, but if he doesn't, the other two will do.
Bardem will win for supporting actor, really no one else can touch his performance. PSH was good in Charlie Wilson's War, but he won't beat Bardem.
Persepolis better win for animated film, that was the best cartoon movie I've seen in a long time.
I hope Ellen Page wins best actress but my guess is the academy will give it to Cate Blancett.

I thought Hal Holbrook in Into the Wild was the best supporting role.
