Now that HD DVD is basically done with, will all the movies that were exclusively on HD DVD (Bourne, American Gangster, Departed, etc) be put on Blu Ray? I honestly don't want to go out and get the HD DVD for my 360, but the fact alot of my favorite movies are on HD DVD only. I hope that they all switch though.
Anyone know if or when HD DVD movies will get converted to Blu Ray?

Probably within a year or so. HD-DVD had 720P/1080i resolution. Blu-Ray has 1080P resolution, so 1st it's a matter of the studios deciding what they want to release in Blu-Ray and then it's a matter of remastering it in the new format

Probably not; since Blu-Ray wont last much longer. Even with war over; Blu-Ray still isn't any competition to SD. Sales on SD are still higher due to their lower prices. Blu-Ray players and PS3's and discs prices are way too high. The everyday Joe and Jane Doe can't afford $400-$1000 on players, and the Toy; just to watch movies. Anyway; I've seen more new releases stay on SD then go to BR.

Blu Ray is the high def alternative, much like high def cable is. It's not going to replace your regular cable, and you still have the regular cable as the option, but for a little more, you get the luxury. I'd suspect that it may be several months until movies start making the full transfer like Bourne and Transformers. Some of the smaller titles maybe, but it wouldn't be until one would assume AT LEAST until the holiday season picks up again and people are in a shopping frenzy.

Whether you know it or not; which evidently you don't, but BD is competition with SD. If sales aren't raising for BR; it wont last. As I said since the prices of everything to do with BD are so high; no one is buying them compared to SD. ITS SIMPLE ECONOMICS KIDS!

Which means right now there not competing.. and if they are there doing pretty good. I mean Blu Ray has done pretty well I think and its just a matter of time for there take over of DVD. Universal and Paramount havent announced really anything on Blu Ray yet but rumorers are floating about There Will Be Blood and Cloverfield to hit day and date with there DVD counterparts and then hopefully there previous titles sometime this summer.

SD will of course sell more because blu-ray and HD in general isn't in that many homes yet. Will it ever out sell SD? Probably not, but if people have money for a stand alone blu-ray player and for a HDTV, there not hurting for money.

Yes they are different formats, but they are fighting for the same title; DVD FORMAT OF CHOICE! You see if Blu-Ray sales are higher; the faster SD is gone. Well; its the same if DVD sales continue to climb; than BR is gone. Its as simple as that!

However, as HDTV purchases come up people are going to want HD movies, and DVDs are not HD. Upscaled DVD is not HD. It's stretched DVD. Blu-Ray has no reason to be gone unless people decide to go from DVD to digital distribution.

Right now; HDTV's are flying off the shelves and Blu-Ray isnt, but SD is selling steadily. The only way BR will sell; is if they drastically dropped their prices.
