Of course we can't predict the future, but do you guys see any current artist taking the spot as the highest selling album ever?

I doubt it, considering hardly anybody buys CD's anymore.

Not in all-time sales.
And yeah, with internet downloading these days I don't think any album will top it.

na, people dont buy CD's anymore. I always make an effort to buy CD's instead of downloading. Artists are making their money from touring nowadays tbh

No for 2 reasons
1. like everyone said because no one buys CD's anymore 2. No current artist is capable of being imaginitve enough to write great music anymore

No for 2 reasons 2. No current artist is capable of being imaginitve enough to write great music anymore Arcade Fire, World/Inferno Friendship Society, Ghostland Observatory, Gogol Bordello, MIA, Subtle, and many others are doing just that. There are very imaginative bands and artists going who write great music. The issue isn't with those making the music, it's the fact that main stream radio and tv is controlled by major labels. Labels go for the quick money rather than signing bands and letting them do what they want, they want them to change so they can have hit singles. Which actually worked for Against Me, they changed their style but made a great album. It has NOTHING to do with the talent, the talent is there. It's just the money behind them that isn't. But as other said, the fact that people don't buy CDs anymore is why no one will top "Thriller".

I'd say no.
Now you can download music you just download the 3 or 4 good songs on an album and ignore the rest of the crap they tend to release to fill it up.

There's alot of people on this message board who take themselves and their musical tastes waaaaaaaaay too seriously. Oh boo-hoo, I stated what my opinon was. I didn't state it as cold, hard truth. Damn.
And just because I don't listen to So and So's grind-core, death, black doom-metal group doesn't make me an "idiot" or so-forth. Rather it makes me a consumer who chooses not to listen to it because it doesn't APPEAL to me. I apologize if I prefer David Lee Roth and Eric Clapton over whoever. *Shakes head*
I'm not trying to cause a fight or a stupid flame war, but some of ya's need to get off your damn high-horse. It's a message board not a political debate rally, guys. This is all supposed to be a fun, time killer in the end.
BTW The Eagles Greatest Hits Volume 1 is the best selling album in the United States right now with 30 million copies sold. However, Thriller is the greatest selling album worldwide with over 55 million sold.
