What's even more chilling about the meaning behind the lyrics of the song is how incredibly true and chilling Vedder's explanation of suicide is.

How sad is it that I thought this post was going to be about Jeremy Padawer coming to speak to your class?

When I was in like, 10th grade I think, in my communication skills class, we spent a few weeks on bullying, and had to do a write up on it. - Instead of doing a full paper on one particular thing, I did a presentation on the Brian Deneke murder, Columbine, and followed it up with the MTV version of the video for this song.
Got a great grade too.

From what I can gather, the kid Jeremy whom the song is based on wasn't necessarily even bullied. He just had a lot of issues and was a loner. Apparantly a lot of people who knew him actually liked him. It just seemed like when he moved and switched school the faculty kind of gave him a short leash since he had been in a mental hospital or something like that. So they kept him in In school suspension for a month or something like that. It's a crazy story really. That site I posted above is a good source for it all.
Eddie Veder wrote the song after only reading a short paragraph so I would imagine he pretty much assumed that the kid was teased and picked on severely.

Si, which is why I used it, mainly influenced by the, "Clearly I remembered, picking on the boy... seemed a harmless little . But we unleashed a lion." After all the, "my little brother was called big ears and he cried," stories, I couldn't have been more happier with getting the okay to play a video for the class...

I can definitely understand why you used it for what you used it for.

I remember seeing this music video when I was really really young, and it scared the crap out of me. I was too young to understand the meaning behind it, but the whole thing just creeped me out.

How did your school get Jeremy Padawar to speak at Career day? Does one of the teachers know him. I would love him to speak at my school about his figure career.
