We've Sensed It. We've Seen The Signs. Now... It's Happening.
In January 2007, writer-director M. Night Shyamalan traveled from Philadelphia to Hollywood to prepare a live-action film adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Shyamalan submitted a spec script entitled The Green Effect to various studios, but none expressed enough interest to purchase the script. The director collected ideas and notes from meetings, returning home to Philadelphia to rewrite the script, and 20th Century Fox greenlighted the project. Now titled The Happening, the film will be produced by Shyamalan and Barry Mendel and will be the director's first R-rated project. Later in March, actor Mark Wahlberg, with whom Shyamalan had been negotiating at the same time as his deal with Fox, was cast into the lead role of the $57 million project. The India-based company UTV will co-finance 50% of the film's budget and distribute the film in India, with Fox distributing in the rest of the territories. Production began in August in Philadelphia. Filming locations in the Philadelphia area include Rittenhouse Square, 30th Street Station, and the G Lodge restaurant in Phoenixville. The release date for The Happening is set for June 13, 2008, intentionally set for Friday the 13th to suit the thriller.
The Happening is a paranoid thriller in which a family must survive a global environmental crisis. The film will portray the earth's plants unleashing airborne neurotoxins that cause people to commit violent suicide. Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel star as an estranged couple who must escape this apocalyptic epidemic.
I seriously cant wait for this movie

Damn, I guess the vegetarians are REALLY ed. The twist will be that they weren't plants at all, they were really long haired dachshunds in disguise trying to take over the world via channeling Saddam's evil ways and making toxic nerve agents.. Quote me on it.

Quote me on it. The dachshund is a manipulative, conniving breed. That's why I like them so much.

Shyamalan is one of my all time favorite directors, so I'm glad he's coming out with another film. I know he's gotten a lot of bashing for movies like Lady in the Water & the Village, but I still think he is a top notch writer & director, & with Mark Wahlberg, this has the chance to be something great

I'll probably catch this but my hopes are incredibly low.
Lets pray this is more Signs than Village.

Lets pray this is more Signs than Village. ...that's like getting sent to Gitmo, and saying "I hope they waterboard me instead of shocking my balls." Seriously, his films have gotten progressively worse...so let's hope it's more Sixth Sense than anything.

I actually just watched Unbreakable for the first time tonight. It was better than I expected. Not a big fan of the Six Sense, The Village, or Lady in the Water, but I loved Signs.
This movie sounds like it could be interesting, can't say I'm too big on Wahlberg though.

I'll see it, the plot sounds cool and I'm a Marky Mark fan.
Unbreakable is lame, Sixth Sense rules, Signs is stupid, I actually liked The Village, and Lady in the Water is super boring.

This new one sounds interesting and I am a big Mark Whalberg fan so I will most def check this out.

I like The Village,Signs,Lady in the Water, and of course the Sixth Sense. So who knows. Marky Mark has really solidified himself as an actor.

I'm a shylaman fan. Loved unbreakable, sixth sense, and signs. Most of his movies you have to view from a religious persepective to appreciate it. I thought the Village was aweful.. Lady in the Water was cute and had a moral, although you really had to dig deep for it. But it was differnt. The Happening sounds weird, almost like too many other apocolyptic movies lately. As long as it has that OMG trademark moment at the end, I'll be good with it.

Sounds solid, I like most of his work though I hope this one isn't quite as misleading as Lady in the Water.

I loved Signs. Loved Village. But Lady was worse than terrible. It was downright garbage.

I'm a Shyamalan mark, so I'm a bit biased. I love The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. I loved Signs when I saw it first, and it has since gone down a bit, but again, it's a lot about the underlying point of the movie. The same is true for The Village, which had its moments, and I felt was like a combination of two specific original Twilight Zone episodes. Lady In The Water is where I differ with almost everyone. I thought it was a really good movie. To bring all of those characters together, and the message it was getting at was masterful in my opinion. Only one of my friends likes the movie, and I know the public does not. Since Hitchcock is my favorite director, and M. Night is a devout follower of his, I guess that makes me like his stuff a little more.
