Backstory 1st May 2007
“No Way, you can’t be serious”.
“You seriously want to start your own wrestling promotion”.
It was only a couple of days ago but I still can’t believe that those where the words that started this. I was sitting in a bar with Alex Shane, a well known wrestling promoter in the UK, talking about the King of Europe cup which had been held days earlier, which had seen Nigel McGuiness win the tournament. Shane had spent a lot of the day talking about wrestling here in the UK, and how it still needed one last push to be taken seriously. That was when the idea had come into my head.
I spent the next hour laying down my idea, about brining in complete unknowns under one roof and to tour around Britain. Every objection Shane had I already had a counter argument to.
Both of us know the business, Shane has been wrestling since 1995, and now mentors younger talents, which means that he could recommend some talent who just need in ring experience. I, on the other hand, started out my career as a wrestler at independent events when I was 18, which was six years ago, but a damaged shoulder meant I could not get in the ring for longer than ten minutes without the risk of losing the use of my left arm. Since then i have worked as a referee, announcer and road agent.
Financially we are sorted, at least to start with. Some good business decisions mean that I have a good amount in the bank, and years of working where ever I was needed means that I know a number of people who would be interested in helping out, and Shane’s worked with some of the best British wrestlers out there, so would not find it difficult finding some new talent.
Eventually Shane gave in, and we organized that he would make some calls and look into getting some new talent, and I would sort out the business side of things.

3rd May 2007
I look over the list of wrestlers that Alex Shane gave me earlier today. Most of the business side of things has been sorted out, I have cleaned out most of my finances to get this promotion running, so the only money I have now is what I am bringing in from my backstage work, which I have decided to continue with until I get the promotion up and running. I managed to get a ring and a friend of Shane’s has agreed to design championship belts for us, so now all I need to decide on is the roster.
Shane left me some footage of the wrestlers, who are all trainees and are complete unknowns in the wrestling world. There is some good talent here, and a good range of wrestlers who would work just for the chance of getting ring experience. I get down to making a shortlist of possible signings, before organizing with Shane to see the wrestlers tomorrow.
4th May 2007
I spend most of the day heading from one wrestling school to another to see some of the wrestlers face to face. I spot a few really good prospects and get talking to them to see if they are interested. Most of them are, and Shane tells me that he will take care of the talent while I schedule the shows.
