We are now entering the end of the Jakks Classic line. The upcoming line ups were posted last week and from my calculations, cs 27 will arrive in sept/oct 09, and cs 28 will arrive in nov/dec 09 and that will be it (except for maybe some cs tts); looking ahead at who is listed and who is not, i find the upcoming classics in general to be dissapointing;
supposedly signed but not listed are cornette, valiants, slick, ivan koloff, masked superstar, mr. fuji, goldust, rock n roll express, arnie skaaland, pat patterson, jimmy garvin, the shiek- it does not look too promising that we will see figures of any of those legends; to the contrary, we will see too cool and headbangers (hopefully in an upcoming cs tt line, and not take up valuable cs slots); and i am sure we will see a cs hhh since his only one was back in cs 1;
instead, we get repainted figs of andre, jyd, beefcake, bret, iron shiek, beefcake, bulldog; furthermore, we get yet another big show figure (i am okay with the wcw giant but how many wwe big show figures have been released?; and two goldbergs in 2 successive sets? do we need brunzell and blair released as singles when they will have a cs tag team pack released? do we need more road warriors? I have already commented a while ago on why I don't feel we need a cs trish, lita, debut hardys, cena, rvd (since they already have figures that have been made, maybe not cs figs but they have already had figures made); do we need 2 separate dynamites released within a year of each other?
again, i have no problem with anyone getting a cs figure- its just that with so few cs slots lefts, to give them to wrestlers who have had any figures made (whether its an ra, or an ad or deluxe), it just seems to be a waste of a valuable cs slot, a slot that could have gone to a classic or legend who never had any figure made of them;
with so many deserving legends who have never even had a figure made, i wish jakks would have done a better job of making them figures rather than concentrating on so many repaints;
i am happy that ventura, bossman, and dynamite will get figures; i just wish the koloffs, the pedro's, the stan hansens, the adrian adonis, mulligans, zybsko's, von erichs, could have had figures made before jakks loses the license
maybe we'll have more luck with the next company

there is still hope for them to be released after 2009 isn't there?
do Jakks hold the contracts to the wrestlers being made into figures, or does WWE? If Jakks holds them, they can just rename the series and continue on.

its still a year and a half away, most of those lineups will probably change like they already have a few times.

ya, I agree with you. I'm getting tired of repaints as well. I'm sure that some of those line-ups will change as they sign new people.

It's true that it doesn't look too good if that's how it's going to be. But compared to how they looked a few weeks ago the lineups are a hundred times better now, as long as they are subject to change then it should be alright. I'm prepared for there to be alot of missing names from CS when it's over but I'm also still a bit hopeful that we will get more after Jakks go with TNA. I totally agree that anyone like RVD, Trish, Lita etc who have loads of RA style figures already are a waste of space but a while ago it looked like that's all we were getting for the next two years, it's since got a bit better so hopefully it will get better still. Out of the placeholders, I'm sure we'll get some of them at least, I'm pretty sure Slick will get released in a Twin Towers 3 pack now that Bossman is signed.

I am disappointed to see post millenium women who I already have 15 action figures of, when actual Classic women are being ignored (Wendi Richter, Lealani Kai, Velvet McIntyre, Judy Martin, Alundra Blayze, Bull Nakano, Sable, Chyna, Debra, Terri, The Kat, Tori.....Elizabeth!!)
But as people have said, there is still hope. We have a bit over a year. Hopefully the final CS assortments will be Jakks best effort.

What I never understood is why they made so many unneccessary repaints, like all the extra Bret Harts, Jake Roberts, Hogans and HBKs, when they could have made neccessary repaints like:
Luger in USA and Narcissist attire Warlord in Singles attire Barbarian in Singles attire Bulldog in his short hair and short tights and in jeans Koko B Ware in High Energy attire Neidhart as Who and his hasbro attire Steve Lombardi as Abe Knuckleball Schwartz, Kimchee Volkoff in his Milion Dollar Corporatin attire Virgil in wrestling gear Tito as El Matador Terry Gordy as the Executioner Bobby Heenan in Wrestling Attire Typhoon as Tugboat
Hopefully Jakks will read everybody complaints about Goldberg, Lita, Trish, Big Show, and Cena and remove them for someone else or some good repaints like I mentioned above.
Also Hopefully Slick get released singly or with the Warlord since we don't need another Bossman and Akeem.

It sucks plain and simple.
I'll be averaging about 1.5 a series as opposed to getting around 85 to 90% of each series. The classic line is officially dead.
Too many repaints, I don't mind some, but the guys they have listed don't need them. Too many current wrestlers that shouldn't be into to classics.

You're not the only one tired of repaints. When we do get a new elease Jakks messes up the figure, like Rikishi for example, the figure could have been much better. The CS10 Dusty Rhodes body would have been better for his figure but instead Jakks makes him look like a modified Yokozuna.

I can definitely understand what you're saying, but I'd take them as a grain of salt at the moment. If you remember in CS 23 Bret Hart was scheduled to be in the line-up but was replaced once the Big Boss Man was signed. Thus i am thinking Jakks is just penciling certain guys in (ie. Andre, JYD, etc) and they make take them out as newer names are signed.
While I am excited for re-paints for guys like JYD & Andre, why aren't a lot of the guys whom are have been signed for a while, not scheduled?! Do we really need a WWE version of Goldberg and Big Show? I am pumped for their WCW version, but really their WWE versions are not necessary.

I get the feeling Jakks will continue with some type of Classics line after their WWE contract ends. There are a lot of names signed that can be made without the consent of WWE. I for one hope they do continue.
There are some glaring omissions however that can't be made without WWE's consent that I am really let down we didn't get. Hercules, Haku, Dino Bravo, Mr. Fuji, Ahmed Johnson, Crush, Ricky Steamboat, etc.
But then on the other hand...I look over my CS Collection and I am pretty grateful to get the CS we did.

I have a feeling that because the line-ups are like this we might see RSC or other site exclusive sets, plain old new exclusives and the 3 packs will be back to not being repaints and all new figs! As for now I totally agree with you! Plus the size of the lines are smaller why not add a couple more figs to each set like previous ones!

I too can understand how you feel. But I think it only concerns those who collect the entire sets of each series. I only collect who I want to collect. For example the only classics I got where Ax, Smash, Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, Honky Tonk Man, Rick Martel, The Mountie, Hulk Hogan, DDP, Al Snow and a few others. But I can totally understand what you mean. I am just glad I never collected everything like you people do. But sometimes I wish I did, just that would get pricey since I live in Canada and will have to pay $13.99 a figure unlike some of you who pay really cheap for your classics.

Bottom line with all due respect to the everyones opinion on who's "Most deserving of a figure" is with the exception of proven sellers in this line nobody SHOULD be getting multipule releases from this point on. Example: The Killer Bees. I guarantee the 2-pack is gonna sell DECENT for first shipment and then rot the way the poor samoans and bushwackers did. They don't need a main line release as singles. The bulldogs should either be in singles release or a 2-pack also. not both, thow i would think they would sell better. Now that were in crunch time alot of things i thought would change. More examples. Granted he was planned prior Rikishi could have been packed with too cool in a 3-pack. Bossman & slick could be packed with akeem wearing his yellow dasheki and we have another 3-pack. Any chance they have to jam anyone into a logical 2 or 3 pack i think they should. theirs plenty of people who still need to be made that might not fit the 2-3pack formula.

they could release three random figures in a three pack like they did with shiek/volkoff/bundy, jannetty/neidhart/tito, and bulldog/jake/koko.
