I just picked up the cloverfield dvd and it says that there is hidden research into the case designate cloverfield. I looked for it in all the sections of the menu, but couldn't find it. I hope it isn't the website it gives you in the special features because the videos on it are pretty much exactly the same thing they show you in the special features menu. Anybody know where it is or maybe I am just stupid and was looking for something that doesn't exist.

I think it actually is the bonus website, and there is some kind of puzzle for like each exclusive video or something. I'm not entirely sure though, I haven't even put the disc in yet.

Well the website for it is www.cloverfieldfiles.com but a lot of the stuff up there they show in the special features part of the dvd and relates to how they made the movie. None of it seems to be more research into the case though.

I haven't seen anything mentioned over on Cloverfieldclues about there actually even being any "research", like a lot of people were expecting. I just think Paramounts idea of "Research" was the making of, bloopers, etc. The bloopers alone, by the way, were worth the purchase of the DVD.

Maybe "hidden" research is just that. Hidden. It could be an easter egg. I picked up the steelbook earlier, when I get a chance I'll look.

I think the hidden research could possibly be the "It's Alive! It's Huge!" feature. It goes in depth about the monster. Highlight:
-It's just a baby. Newly hatched. -It isn't just killing for no reason. It has no idea what it's doing. It's irritable. It's an infant basically. It's in a new place that it has no clue of. -When it shrieks or roars, it isn't intended to terrify anyone from the monsters standpoint. It is mentioned that it could possibly be a calling for its mother.
And Demolition, the Steel Book doesn't come with anything different, just a sweet case.

Yeah, that's what I think the hidden research is. That really reveals alot about the monster, and makes you view it in a completely different way.

It's at the very end when they show the "flashback." If you blink you'll miss it.
The steelbook is very cool. I'll try and get some pics up later.

On the DVD you can see the Satellite fall as clear as day, starting from the top right, falling right down into the ocean.

Here's something that is hidden quite well...
On the scene selection menu, highlight scene 16 and just leave it or for about a minute and a half. You'll then see a number 17 appear in the corner, and you'll be able to access that page with "scene 17" containing supplemental files. I'm almost positive there are videos hidden here somewhere, but I've yet to find them. Its kind of creepy, to be honest.
The Jamie and Teddy videos from YouTube and other blog sites (from Cloverfield's original promotion in the summer/fall) are also hidden on the DVD.

I know one of the others can be accessed in the languages menu or something, its something pretty standard, like press right on spanish or something like that. I'm going to spend the afternoon watching the movie and the features, I'll let you guys know if I find anything else. By the way, watch the movie itself closely - there are little homages to previous monster movies in it. At various times in the film, I can get exact numbers if anyone wants them, there are single frame, still shots of classic monsters like King Kong, the alien from Them!, etc. Also, supposedly, as the group is running to rescue toward the end of the film and Clover's film steps down just behind a bridge, the DHARMA Initiative logo flashes for a single frame in the right hand corner. I CANNOT confirm that this is in the DVD version of the film, but it IS in that particular clip in the DVD trailer "widget" that was distributed online for the DVD release. Either this is just being done to make people like me wonder, or there really is a connection between Cloverfield and Lost.

I gotta say, the features on this DVD are worth the purchase alone. The making of is superb, so is the feature about the movies visuals and the in depth about the monster. The bloopers are gold, and theres tons of hidden crap.
