When he first won it, he lost it to Triple H and then regained it later in the night. After dirty wins against Shawn Michaels, and Chris Jericho. He got clean victories against Jeff Hardy, Triple H, John Cena.
To me in seemed like Ortons reigned sucked until near Royal Rumble until it picked up and got better. Thoughts?

It got better certainly, i would have preferred to see him prevail over the trio last night convincingly, that would put him over as the REAL new top man in the business, now he is just another heel again, not a dominant heel champion like one Triple H in 02-03.
I guess it is Hunter's time again but think he should have won it in a one-on-one situation at JD.

Hell no. Sure made him look weak from the standpoint that he could only beat Triple H after Triple had two matches already and was attacked. But from him winning the belt to him losing the belt he was the perfect heel champion. Theyd put him in the ring with the biggest fan favorites and clean or not he'd find a way to walk out champion. Not to mention the way they built WM 24 from the beginning to the end was brillant. Orton said it himself. It wasnt who was going to win the triple threat, it was who was going to beat Orton. Love him or hate him, Orton's latest run was one of the most successful in recent history.

You pretty much nailed it. He looked like such a chicken **** up until his victory at the Royal Rumble. He was superkicked by HBK 7 weeks in a row or something and never had any momentum until his Rumble victory. Additionally, 2/3 of his 2007 title matches ended in a DQ, and in the other one his opponent( HBK) couldn't use his finisher.
But after the Hardy victory, he got some major momentum. Even though he got DQ'ed again at No Way Out, it was hilarious and made great storyline sense. And then of course he picked up the huge win at Wrestlemania.
I think Orton is rather boring, but his title reign was built to perfection. It told a brilliant story, especially with all the DQ's. They may suck when you blow $40 on a PPV, but it fit his character perfectly. His reign also provided nice shock value at Wrestlemania.

I don't think so, because I don't view him as somebody who should have a title reign longer than a few months anyway. His title reign suited him well, but it'll be nice to see a few less DQ's from now on.

The rub from ending his reign was wasted on Triple H.

I don't think so. It was great and well built, imo. Just a shame it ended at Backlash, and to HHH.

A waste? He was put over a lot of big names during the reign. It really got Orton back on track in the title picture.
