Maybe they could have come up with a better CD title, and maybe I don't know how to classify music that well, but what's it really matter? In the end, music is music, and regardless it's a fun cd, I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously lol. If you wanna get technical, I don't think Rihanna is "Crunk" either heh. To me, it matter's a of a lot. Of course it's not meant to be serious, it's meant to sell to a bunch of idiots who either listen to hip hop and want to hear their stuff go 'punk' - or to bunch of kids who want to look rebellious. Now, you can take that as me being an over-serious douche bag, and think I need to lighten up. Obviously, that was on topic. I was reffering to the album as a whole. And Mark, you are the wrong person to be pointing fingers at about trolling. - As far as my posting goes, I was addressing other people who were going just as off topic as I was, so STFU.

I've been skimming through the pages of this thread, and just had a question for adambomb. I'm not being a dick or anything or trying to take a dig at you or anything like these other guys, just a respectful question. Why do you care so much that these bands are considered Punk? To be honest, I think it is Punk. Why? Because Punk has evolved over the past few decades to what it is today, but is still basically considered Punk. Just a question.

Then I'll answer that honestly. Punk has, was, and always will be anti-mainstream. You look up bands that are young, and new, like Witch Hunt, Appalachian Terror Unit, Behind Enemy Lines (ex Pist, Aus Rotten), Common Enemy, Poser Disposer, Whiskey Rebels, and other bands who keep the true lifestyle alive, and you listen to their music... some subject matter has changed with the years, but you compare it to the Flipper's, MDC's, Black Flag's, Nausea's, Big Boy's, and Circle Jerk's of yesteryear, and all of their thoughts, and ideals are still intact. Punk has evolved, it's evolved with new sub-genres, and it's evolved where labels have figured out how to market a watered down version of the music and image. I care about what is perceived as punk, because after traveling up and down the east coast, sleeping on floors, busting my ass as a booker and promoter for shows, meeting the people I'm closest to (now) who are all like-minded and activists, and trying to help make successes in an underground community of myself, my band(s), and a venue... I honestly can't entertain the thought of THIS as being punk: With... Ripe wonder, I plunder Your village now that I know that I've become her And that is why You can't rock my That is why That is why You'll never ever in a god damn millennium Be my girlBut I can, with this: Cut down the forest turn soil to sand, Nothing but desert where trees no longer stand. Level the mountians and suck the earth dry, Consume what you can and kiss your ass goodbye.

Yeah I know, adambomb, but what i'm basically asking is why do you care so much what other people think? Isn't that part of the Punk mentality? Not giving a ? Again i'm not trying to be disrespectful, it's just I have had that mindset about people giving me crap for the music I have liked... who cares what they think? You know what's true so them.

No. Not totally. Most punks care what people think of them, some don't. Some, like to break the stereotype of being uncaring, smelly, drunk bungholes. I'm one of them. I do my laundry, I don't get drunk every day of the week, I don't do heroine, I donate money, I protest crap I care about when I can, and I'm not homeless. So yes, I do care how the outside world perceives me, and the culture I am with.

Then you're no longer following the way 'punk' was original made to be, just like the bands you hail as not being punk, and therefore, you are just as bad as the 'punk' bands that you are making fun of. Get over yourself.
