Ok, has anyone else heard this amazing cd? This CD is 32 flavors of best, IMO. Track Listing: 1. "Put Yo Hood Up" - Set Your Goals (Lil Jon) (4:59) 2. "Got Your Money" - Say Anything (Ol' Dirty Bastard) (4:15) 3. "I Wish" - The Secret Handshake (Skee-Lo) (2:52) 4. "Men in Black" - Forever the Sickest Kids (Will Smith) (3:05) 5. "California Love" - My American Heart (2Pac) (4:16) 6. "I Wanna Love You" - The Maine (Akon) (3:03) 7. "Kryptonite (I'm on It)" - Emanuel (Purple Ribbon All-Stars) (4:30) 8. "The Seed" - Person L (The Roots) (4:22) 9. "Still Fly" - The Devil Wears Prada (Big Tymers) (4:55) 10. "Umbrella" - All Time Low (Rihanna) (3:49) 11. "Notorious Thugs" - Scary Kids Scaring Kids (The Notorious B.I.G.) (7:23) 12. "Nuthin' but a "G" Thang" - The Escape Frame (Dr. Dre) (3:30) 13. "Gin and Juice" - Hot Rod Circuit (Snoop Dogg) (3:44) 14. "Hey Ya!" - Lorene Drive (OutKast) (4:24) 15. "Tennessee" - New Found Glory (Arrested Development) (4:05) SOOO GOOD! Still Fly is an awesome cover, Umbrella kicks all kinds of ass, and they couldn't have done a better job on Got Your Money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Theres not one punk band in that lineup. Maybe they could have come up with a better CD title, and maybe I don't know how to classify music that well, but what's it really matter? In the end, music is music, and regardless it's a fun cd, I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously lol. If you wanna get technical, I don't think Rihanna is "Crunk" either heh.

To me, it matter's a of a lot. Of course it's not meant to be serious, it's meant to sell to a bunch of idiots who either listen to hip hop and want to hear their stuff go 'punk' - or to bunch of kids who want to look rebellious. Now, you can take that as me being an over-serious douche bag, and think I need to lighten up. ---But I get bugged by more 12 year olds at local shows about what punk bands I like, and if I think ' Sum 41 is punk as . When I hear Mouth Sewn Shut, The Subhumans, Fleas and Lice, and Total Chaos start covering Lil John and bullcrap... that'll be when ' punk goes crunk,' and I'll hang up my boots, shave my head, and throw out my records. Punk is just a marketable word, the actual scene though, isn't. Can't say I really blame the label releasing it though, I'm sure it'll make them some $$$.

well I don't happen to fit into either of the categories that you seem to think it will sell to, I have it because it's a good laugh, something I think a lot of people are losing track of having. In my eyes, whether it's "punk" or not shouldn't matter, if I like a song or band, then I'm gonna listen to them regardless of what they're classified as, ya know? I can only classify things by "I like it" or "I don't like it." And well I like this cd so it fits into that category lol. I do see where you're coming from though, with these "scene" kids overrunning all things involved with music and ruining a lot of things, liking what they're told they should like. The lamest.

Oh without a doubt, punk isn't the only thing I like. I used to like Fuel a lot, and then they got that bastard to replace Brett - I own a couple of Incubus CD's... but to be honest, I have to be in moods to listen to them. My everyday music is punk, Oi!, psychobilly, or the occasional grindcore band. You did hit the nail right on the head though with kids. It's a double edged sword though, some will stay stupid as hell to what is what, and a few look further into 'punk' and may, actually get into it. In my town, I'm one of very, VERY few punks, and while for the most part people are cool with us, and everyone's friends, we've got people who'll listen to it, know the bands, but don't actually get into the scene, and you know... that's all well and fine with me. But it does get on my nerves for someone to really try and hold a conversation about the actual scene, when the most they've been enlightened to is a Casualties video. It's whatever though really, I'm glad this has turned into more of a discussion, than a flat out flame war like some threads end up being.

The SYG cover of Lil Jon is really fun, it's pretty much about Star Wars. Say Anything's cover is really good and monotone. Other than that, these are the only good tracks. Just hearding Jordon from NFG sing "...I'm black and proud..." is worth it.
"California Love" - My American Heart (2Pac) "Nuthin' but a "G" Thang" - The Escape Frame (Dr. Dre) "Gin and Juice" - Hot Rod Circuit (Snoop Dogg) "Tennessee" - New Found Glory (Arrested Development)
That being said, I was going to go after Adam Bomb and his "this is what's punk" attitude, but it's like arguing with a brick wall. Which by stating what's punk and what isn't punk is totally not punk. I mean like that statement isn't but it's fact. Punk isn't something, it's an attitude, which is not an elitist one. You always remind me of the song "Bored Teenager" by the Briggs. Not like personality wise, but what the song means.

You always remind me of the song "Bored Teenager" by the Briggs. Not like personality wise, but what the song means. "You're never gonna change the whole world, GET BACK IN LINE! Must have been a fool to think that things could change" Yeah, I know the song by heart, I sang it with them on stage not even a month ago. Punk has been my life for ten years - I'm not an elitist, I'm just protective over something that I've identified myself with for a very long time. Punk to me, is a way of life, it's a music, it's unity and friendship and good times. . It's intimate, it's a whole ing culture. It's being crammed in a dive with 300 people who treat you like family that you've known for five minutes and hearing a band of 4 or 5 other people with no rockstar bull ****, who are just regular people with normal jobs preaching the **** that's in your head. Sure, it's not colored hair and studs and crap on your clothes. I get that. Anyone can look like a punk, and I get what you're saying - it's the mindset and the attitude you have, the way you carry yourself. I know all about that. I'm not saying THIS AND ONLY THIS IS PUNK, but the **** I said about Fleas and Lice and whatever else, is a much better representation of the punk rock spirit and way of life, than Say Anything. You paint your leather jacket but it comes off in the rain And the more you cut your hair the more it grows again The badges you pin on yourself fall off or start to rust And the more they take the piss the less people you can trust
It's the story of your life And the end of it's your death And every word that's in between Is just a waste of breath

"How many punks does it take to screw in a light bulb? Twenty. One to screw in the light bulb, one to hold the ladder, and eighteen on the guest list."

"How many punks does it take to screw in a light bulb? Twenty. One to screw in the light bulb, one to hold the ladder, and eighteen on the guest list." I thought there was supposed to be one bitching about conserving energy, saving the planet, and another to call the guy screwing it in a sellout?

I might check this out simply because I like it when bands cover songs that they normally wouldn't do. I like the whole grenre-crossing thing. However, I've got a bad feeling that all of these bands are terrible. I've only heard of a couple of them, and I cannot ing stand them. Can we get someone who doesn't have a crappy taste in music to throw their $0.02 in? AdamBomb, I'm looking in your direction, buddy.

Personally, I wouldn't buy it unless it was pretty cheap, but if a friend had it, I'd give it a listen just for craps n' giggles. Most of the bands (to me) on the CD, sound about the same... but some people in this thread are saying some of the songs are actually pretty good - if you're interested, I'd say go for it. If you don't like it, at least you got a drink coaster.
