Of all his characters he has played, which is your favorite? For me it would have to be Sandy Lyle in Along Came Polly, he was ing hilarious!

Philip's in my top 3 actors. Probably Dean Trumbell (the mattress man) in Punch-Drunk Love, the commercial in the DVD special features is one of the funniest things I've seen in film. All his characters in Paul Thomas Anderson's movies are gold.
As far as acting skill goes, his roles in Love Liza, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, The Savages, 25th Hour, Happiness, and of course Capote.

Looking back, I really haven't seen him in all that many movies. Like the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Twister and Mission Impossible 3.

He's had a bunch of great characters and some of the ones that come to mind are his role in Patch Adams and when he played the gay camera-man in Boogie Nights.

I can honestly say I don't care for the guy Same. And like Mole, I haven't even seen him in more than a few movies. I've seen him in Twister, Red Dragon, and Mission Impossible III. Meh.

This man is one of the best actors alive today.... As far as pure awesomeness in a character, I would have to go with Sandy Lyle; but if we're talking about acting skill, I think he was best in Before The Devil Knows You're Dead.

"Twister, Mission Impossible 3, Red Dragon".. ah, his accessible loser-friendly movies. ;-0
But I must admit Red Dragon kicks ass, Phil gets glued to a wheelchair and set on fire.

When is he ever bad? I literally love every role I've seen him in.
A lot has been mentioned already, so I'll throw out one that hasn't been.
His character in Almost Famous - Lester Bangs

Capote...It was such an awesome movie that I would normally not like...But it was good...I think that other movie on Capote was stupid as anything and it should have never been made.
Along Came Polly was great too...His character was too good!

I would have to say that I best liked him in Scent of a Woman, Liberty! The American Revolution, Mission: Impossible III, and Charlie Wilson's War.
