Ok, i've had a problem with my PC for a while now. Whenever I go to boot it up, it freezes at random parts of the boot sequence, and the only way to get it to start is to wait until it gets to the part before the MS Windows startup screen, and it's black, and leave it for 1/2-1 hour. Also, once it does get started and I can access the internet, it randomly crashes. I've ran spyware, adware and antivirus programs, all up to date, and none of them returned anything (except tracking cookies, which i removed, but the problem persisted afterwards as well).
If it help anyone, occasionally I get a black screen when i startup that says there was a BIOS Rom Checksum error, and something about my A drvie, which is where i have my floppy disk drive. Any help is appreciated, I'll give karma or whatever you crazy kids use these days.

Try this, once your computer boots up, go to Start>Run>and type in MSCONFIG. Click on the startup tab and check to see if there is something wierd that is loading when you start. Uncheck any boxes for any items that you don not want to load during boot (aim.exe, qttask.exe and other stuff like that. If there is something that you have no idea why it's there, type it into google and see what you can learn about it.
You may also want to try pcpitstop.com. Use their program called Hi-Jack This and post your log so that a person "In the know" can take a look at it and give you suggestions on how to fix your problems.
Finally, You may need to update your BIOS. Find out what type of motherboard you have and then check the MFG website for the latest BIOS available.
There is some danger to updating the BIOS but it seems like it couldn't get much worse for you.
I hope one of these suggestions fixes you problem.
I hope
