i did this and my NOD32 picked it up right away and deleted it.. it did it as soon as i saved the file create a new text document... copy and paste this in it X5O!P%@ap[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* then save it as a .com file.. any name will do. Description: This is a program from the European Institute for Computer Anti-Virus Research that can be used to test the virus detection capabilities of Anti-Virus software. This is a small .COM file for DOS that simply prints the message EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE! when executed. It consists entirely of printable ASCII characters. Many anti-virus products detect this file as if it had a virus. Most give a special message to make it clear that this is a test file and not a real virus. For example, when the EICAR file is scanned with a CA Antivirus solution, the message displayed is: EICAR.COM is the EICAR test string reviewer test file. The main use of the EICAR test file is to test that your Anti-Virus software is configured and operating as you want it to. For example, it could be used to test that resident/realtime protection is active and behaving as you expect. Please refer to the EICAR Standard Anti-Virus Test File web page ( www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm ) for more information
