No. He died pretending to be a superhero.
Although actually now I think of it, if he was still here post-draft then I reckon he would have a shot at winning the title.

Putting his tragic death aside..
No. I dont think he would have ever became champion.. He wouldnt have fit in with The Rock, Stone Cold, HHH era.. He would have made it to higher mid card at most but no, i don't think he would have held the gold... But hey, Anyone can become a scripted champion right?

That would have been cool, except if he won as Blue Blazer.

no, I don't think he would have moved that far up the ladder. The Don made a great point that there were many other huge names during his time and since then a lot of rookies have stepped up.

If Owen was wrestling now...He would be a champion. Back then, I don't see it. The reason why I see him being championship material now is simple. I see him like a Carlito, Shelton and Hardy Boyz-like...In that kind of class; the next generation...All of them can be world champion and I believe they will be within 5 years.

He was going to retire a few years later, so he probably wouldn't be wrestling "now." I read he was originally supposed to be called The Game after he stopped being Blue Blazer, is that true?

As much as I want to say yes, I have to say no. I think Owen was on his way back down the card doing the Blue Blazer gimmick. Yes, I know he was supposed to win the IC belt that night but I have to think he wasn't destined to be top champ.
Sadly, we will never know for sure.

He could have very well been champion. You have to think the big names during that era were HHH, Austin and Rock and some of their best matches/feuds were with Owen Hart before he died. I dont think he would have been a multi time champion but he would have had it at least once. You have to think before the Undisputed era, Vince and Jericho both had "title wins"

Yep, that is true. I agree with others when they say he wouldn't be champion; if Owen ever was to be heavyweight champion, it would have happened in 1994 during his feud with Bret. Owen was going to retire to spend more time with his family after a couple more years, so I think he would have spent his time in the midcard helping to build some of the younger stars. If you remember, Austin didn't want to work with Owen after Owen broke his neck because he didn't feel safe for whatever reason, and Owen's push in late '97 was derailed when Shawn Michaels didn't want to work with him after not being sure he wouldn't shoot on him in the ring after what happened to Bret. All things considered, Owen was nearly a year and a half off from his last big push against Michaels which only lasted a few weeks, so I seriously doubt WWF/E had any plans for him in '99 other than Intercontinental Champion.

I really don't think they would have ever given him the Championship. Do I think he could have been? Of course. But I believe he would have retired before he was given the belt.
