I am sick of people who automaticaly asume just because younger fans like 13, 14, and 15 don't know older wrestling.
For example, say I think a match like Jeff Hardy Vs Johnny Nitro is my favorite match, and someone says something like, you are a new fan, you don't know history of WWE.
You know what I find really funny? A lot of you guys on here that say that think the Attitude Era was the best time in wrestling. You were probably 13-16 during the attitude era, maybe younger. And say people that are 12-16 perfer 2003-Present Era. Why is that so wrong? WE GREW UP WATCHING THAT ERA! THAT IS WHY WE ENJOY IT SO MUCH! God, some people on here, like Hakaushi (I don't know how to spell his wierd name) are very judgemental.
Thoughts?

I started watching in like Feb 02, and my favorite wrestler was/is RVD. My favorite match of all time, therefore is RVD vs Benoit at Summerslam 02 for the IC Title. I just don't like Jeff Hardy/his fans. By all means, go ahead and like him, just don't be flaunty about it.

amen. I like this current era better than the attitude era. WE have so many more superstars and a live show is much more deserving of our money now than it was then. I went to a show in 2001 during the Invasion and the only real main evnters I saw here austin cut a promo, taker/kane fight palumbo/jindrak in a cage match, and then rock/y2j vs rhyno/booker t.
where as now every raw you get to see the likes of HHH, Cena, Y2J, Umaga, HBK, Jeff Hardy, JBL, Mr Kennedy, Vince Mcmahon, etc....and thats just 1 of the 2.5 shows.

That's probably a pretty true statement. I know early 1990's was garbage wrestling...but I'd say that was my favorite time.
Come to think of it, any time before the internet was my favorite time. I think WWE has gotten so used to us "being in the know" that they've just stopped trying.

I'm just saying, it seems like the Jeff Hardy marks are the ones who like to shove it down our throats that they're hardy fans. It's annoying. It's my opinion, I'm entitled to it, just like they're entitled to theirs.

I totally disagree with you on this. I'm 26 and I know few friends of mine that are actually 20 and know a whole lot and what I mean by that I would ask them ton of trivia questons from way back in the day before they were even born and boom answer the question correctly.
It's all a matter of reading and watching old school WWE PPV's and shows that took place way back when. If you give the impression that you don't know a lot of wrestling to a older fan then you should be upset with yourself not the older fans that know more than you do.

Sorry, I didn't mean to snap of like that, I hate die-hard marks too, but I'm also sick to death of people trying to censor other people's opinions just for the sake of doing so.

I agree I am one of the younger users your talking about and I agree with you, the present era is the only one I know. But, my favorite match is a tie between all of the ladder matches in the Hardy/Dudleyz/E&C saga, wich is not from the era I first watched.
So, take from that what you want.

Yeah people always like to feel elite so they'll pick on others for the stupidest reasons.
So, if you grew up watching this era, so what. You can't choose when you're born.
I started watching in 1996 when I was so the earliest I've experienced live is really attitude or pre-attitude, the first live event I went to in person was Summerslam 97.
That doesn't make me a non-true wrestling fan and secondly, I do go back and watch older wrestling from the 80's because I enjoy it. Some of my favorite wrestling is 80's NWA ... now, I obviously wasn't old enough to witness that stuff live, but I bought tapes, researched it and now with 24/7 that makes more stuff accessible than ever.
I'd never get on a wrestling fan's case because of what era they grew up in, that's stupid. You can't control your age so I don't see what the freakin' issue is. And for one thing I also love the current product too so it's all good.

Yea I'm a dick for having an opinion. Nope, your a dick because you talk down to those who dont express the same opinions as yours. But to stay on the topic i started watching in mid '97 but i actually think this year has been just as good as when I first started watching.

I'd be willing to bet that was also the night Rock/Y2J cut the "rhyming contest" promo on Stephanie/Rhyno/Booker, which is one of my all time favorite promos. A show with Austin, Rock, 'Taker, and Jericho is one I'd consider myself VERY lucky to have gotten to see. But that's just me. But back to the topic at hand, I agree. Even though I've been watching for 11 years now. This current "era" isn't nearly as bad as most people make it out to be (generally speaking of course) just as the Attitude era isn't nearly as flawless as most people make it out to be.

These are things you just can't put an end to, man. Hate to say it.
- Bandwagons - People judging others - Conflict from differences of opinion
People are always going to "bash" our opinions and "shove down our throats" their opinions (WF terms... I get a kick out of it).
I'll state this again. I come on here to discuss wrestling, take a look at what others are saying, learn a bit about what goes on behind the scenes and the political aspects of wrestling, not because I'm nosey, but because I've spent the last 10 years watching WWE and am genuinely interested in it. It is a big part of my life. I know a lot, and I mean a lot, about wrestling. At wrestling events, I usually have a few laughs with the other kids my age sitting around me about something only an internet wrestling fan would know enough to say. After a Shelton promo, I said "Shelton 'No Mic Skills' Benjamin", and the kid in front of me turned around, laughed, and said "You're right, he has no mic skills." Kind of a pointless story, but anyways.....
When it's just me at home watching WWE, I either lay in bed watching with some good food, a drink, and my laptop, or I'm in my living room on my comfy leather couch with food, drink and a laptop. It's all about enjoying yourself when you're watching the show. If I sat in front of the TV criticizing everything that goes on, saying how predictable it was, and pointing out every single flaw (except with Mike Adamle... he's an exception, heh) then the fun factor would be gone, and I would be wasting my time.
I dunno, maybe some of you like doing that, but I enjoy the sport. Sure, I come on here and my attitude might be slightly different and a little more judgmental, but not to the point where I put down others, which is what I disagree with.
If you really get offended by other wrestling fans being cocky and smart with you, just remember that most of them are dork bullies in their own little world, and when they step out of that world, they're socially awkward and can't fit in with the rest of the crowd, so they make controversial videos on YouTube and post on message boards, putting down others to make themselves feel better.

I think it's important to learn about things that happened before your time. Be it music, a hobby, wars, world history, etc. It helps build perspective on matters. Obviously pro-wrestling isn't a big deal but it still helps you gain knowledge and be less xenophobic about things that aren't always instantly gratifying or accessible.
What you say holds truth, though. 1997 will always be my favorite year. While it was a great year I doubt it was the best ever overall.
