I see your point. The era of wrestling and brand of wrestling you like is all a matter of opinion and for the most part everyone has a right to have an opinion. My problem with the "younger fan" isnt what you like or dislike, its the lack of respect the men who paved the way for the Attitude Era/Ruthless Aggression Era get. We constantly hear so much Hogan sucks, Flair is bland, Warrior is intellectually- disabled, Savage is a dick etc etc etc but without those men You would have your hip hop Vanilla Ice wanna be. I was 13ish during the Attitude era but I still say the best time for wrestling was late 80s/Early 90s and there is NOTHING that will ever change my opinion on that. Ratings and money are just that...Ratings and money....Entertainment wise nothing was more entertaining then the "Golden Era". Basically like what you want, most of us "older fans" dont care but have a little respect for our WRESTLING because without it you wouldnt have your ENTERTAINMENT

I am sick of people who automaticaly asume just because younger fans like 13, 14, and 15 don't know older wrestling. For example, say I think a match like Jeff Hardy Vs Johnny Nitro is my favorite match, and someone says something like, you are a new fan, you don't know history of WWE. You know what I find really funny? A lot of you guys on here that say that think the Attitude Era was the best time in wrestling. You were probably 13-16 during the attitude era, maybe younger. And say people that are 12-16 perfer 2003-Present Era. Why is that so wrong? WE GREW UP WATCHING THAT ERA! THAT IS WHY WE ENJOY IT SO MUCH! God, some people on here, like Hakaushi (I don't know how to spell his wierd name) are very judgemental. Thoughts? honestly man i really shouldnt matter what people think of what your favorite Era is or your favoirte match yes the Kids/Teens watched a differnt Era than the older fans and so what we like what we like if you dont like, who the hell asked you tom begin with, no if your just putting in your input for a match then yes some people are gonna say stuff about difernt era's but to me wrestling is wreslting, as long as its a good show i dont care, so yeah, and your gonna come acrossed certain people not gonna metion any names *cough* *cough* Hakushi *cough* *cough* man i must be comming down with something just kidding bud, but the fact to the matter is that [glow=red,2,300]PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERNT OPIONS[/glow] *edit*wow lol, i just noticed that thats the most i ever typed for a reply in my life...mmmhhm beig tired makes you to crazy thing

It doesn't particularly matter what era you grew up watching. You know good programming when you see it. The era that people grow up watching becomes the measuring stick, because that's what you're familiar with. That doesn't make it the best. I grew up watching wrestling starting in '84 or so. That whole rock & wrestling deal was my era, but there's no way in Hell I'd ever try to tell you that was the best.
The best era in my opinion is the nWo/Attitude/Extreme era, not because of the matches, but because of the excitement. Guys were changing companies backstage, flipping allegiances on television... It was all very unpredictable even in the age of the Internet. The 'E tried to recreate this with the draft and guys changing shows, but it wasn't the same. It all felt... artificial.
Now, I can say that, because I lived it. I watched it every Monday on television. The kids on this board don't have that experience and even seeing it on WWE 24/7 isn't the same as what was felt watching it live.
So, you have your era now, this is your measuring stick. Just hope that you see something better as time goes on. We should all hope for that.

Okay, I got into wrestling after my grandad put on RAW is WAR's November 13th edition [over here it was broadcast that Friday night]. Now at that point, SmackDown 2: Know Your Role was out so I got familiar with the era of WWF in 2000 [interesting story, back then I couldn't read so I mistook Eddie Guerrero for Triple H ]. I was close to the internet so I was on there almost every two days researching the history of WWF back up to 1997. I learnt of WrestleMania I, II, IV, V, VII and VIII when I was ill and my ma bought me those tapes on VHS. Truth be told I didn't find out kayfabe until I read of Powerslam Magazine in 2004/2005. And all through the dirt, I still consider 2001-early 2002 as my favourite period in wrestling. My favourite match was WGTT vs. Kidman and Mysterio from Vengeance 03 however. But if going further back, I'd say Brian Christopher vs. Taka Michinoku at IYH19 was another favourite.

I think in today's world its more of a matter of having an "educated" opinion. Despite being a kid, I still remember the 80's well. We have all the wrestling history at our finger tips & a lot of people choose not to use it. I don't bash people for liking whoever or what era, the only thing that bothers me is when people consider 80s wrestling boring. It was more about telling a story inside the ring than a storyline.

Of course people have bias to the era they had grown yp watching. Its typical, everyone has a different opinion so let them have it and express it simple as that.

Most young people come on here and talk about the dumbest things on here. Then when someone disagrees, they flip out and try to convince the other person to change their opinion. I am young for this board, 15 years old. Some of us other younger kids on here can hold an intelligent conversation without getting into a confrontation. It's just a matter of maturity.

I do can see where you come out from.
I am STRONG disagree that Jeff Hardy, John Morrison, or some else like as them have an main title shot at WWE, because that won't make sense for them to being "Champion" at WWE, to be honest.

I totally disagree with you on this. I'm 26 and I know few friends of mine that are actually 20 and know a whole lot and what I mean by that I would ask them ton of trivia questons from way back in the day before they were even born and boom answer the question correctly. It's all a matter of reading and watching old school WWE PPV's and shows that took place way back when. If you give the impression that you don't know a lot of wrestling to a older fan then you should be upset with yourself not the older fans that know more than you do. What an asinine statement. He doesn't have to act like he knows more about wrestling around older fans, that just makes him look like a jackass because he is trying to act like he knows crap that he doesn't. If he hasn't been watching for a long time like others, that's fine, let him talk about what he wants to talk about wrestling wise, I have no problem with it. I realize not everybody grew up watching the Attitude Era or the Hogan era, and I respect that. Just don't do the whole, Cena/Hardy.etc., whatever is the greatest wrestler ever. There is a difference between liking them and them being your favorite, but don't shove him down our throats as the best thing since sliced bread.

Don't let it get to you man. The entire point of your favorite match is that it's your's, it's a match that capitivated and entertained you and know one elses opinion on that subject really matters. I'll be honest there are dozens of us here who vast wrestling knowledges and our favorite matchs are probably some of the most bizarre choices if you're looking from a wrestling purist stand point. So many things come in to factor for what a match is to you, there is a huge difference between the "best" match I've seen and my "favorite".

If Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison is your favorite match then it's your favorite match. Don't let other people get on you because that is your favorite match.

I can appreciate any fan from any era I really dont care.
What I hate are people that say "I'm a true wrestling fan" and all this and they don't know about anyone or anything past the time cena arrived. Those are the people I can't stand. Not saying anyone on here is like that.
Theres this one girl thats 18 and is a huge wrestling fan or so she claims. Has dreams of being a diva...wow. Shes one of those people I'm referring to. How can you want to be in the business and not have at least respect to even know who guys like Bret Hart or Randy Savage is? I hate that. I dont know, call me stupid but if you want do be in the business, you should at least know something about its history. That annoys the crap out of me.
Its the younger fans that dont even respect or appreciate any era besides the one they lived in that I can't stand.

Yeah, suprised this hasn't been locked yet... shocked, actually.
Anyways, people will always think they're better than someone else for whatever reasons. To be honest, either deal with it or don't visit the forums. Prime example of why some older wrestling fans hate younger ones is Jomo. What an irnorant statement "More than most, actually." Really, who the hell is he to tell me he knows more about wrestling that me or anyone else? Same goes for the older fans, as well.
Either way, people will be the way they want to be and people complaining about it isn't going to stop it.
