JR was moved to Smackdown as you know, and because he was moved, he posted this on his blog:
As many of you know, I was “drafted” to Smackdown Monday night in the “random lottery”. Obviously that means I will be leaving Monday Night Raw and my long time partner Jerry Lawler.
I am not happy about this surprise development.
I also contemplated calling it a career Monday night and not going to Houston to tape SD.
I should have detected something with the demeanor of certain individuals either thru their plastic, poker faces or the perceived smirk that I thought I might have seen on some of their faces during the day.
After speaking with my wife and thinking on this matter until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, I have decided to do the right thing for the fans who care and the talent who care and begin my new assignment.
The sarcasm in it with the quotes basically saying its fake is pathetic, and totally unprofessional. I mean, hes been on Raw since it basically started and its time for a change, he can't just expect WWE to not move him because he doesn't like it.
Triple H did not really want to move brands, but he did it and he had a lot more reason to be annoyed.
I am really annoyed at JR and lost all my respect for him. I don't know why hes being such a bitch about it because change happens. Whats so devastating about moving brands that he nearly quits his job?
Its the same as Cole, He has called every Smackdown apart from 2, and he accepted it and moved on. Good for Cole. But i have really lost total respect for JR, contemplating quiting is basically the same as quiting anyway, Because hes basically saying, i don't want to be here anymore.

He has every right to be upset, but Raw will pay in the long run.
Seriously, its getting to the point where all of the fame and status that wrestling gained during the Monday Night War is fading back down to what it was before the war.

If HHH didn't want to go to SD, he wouldn't go.. Also, JR has the right to be unhappy about going to SD - he is an institution, while Michael Cole is merely an announcer.. Michael Cole has never been Vice-President of talent relations, as far as I'm aware..

Your respect doesn't pay his bills, tbh... I just think he showed a great lack of professionalism in his reaction.

r u stupid? your going to mention Triple H about accepting his draft? hello? McFly anybody home? 2004 ring a bell to you? Triple H being traded to SD!, then before midnight struck, was traded back to raw for the dudleys and someone else. and this time, i bet Triple H will be back right after summerslam. and of course Cole wasnt upset. he got a promotion! thats like saying "yeah ive been a garbageman every sunday for 10 years and only missed 2 days. i dont know if im ready to be driving the truck yet!" and JR put "draft" and "random lottery" in quotes because its not random. the writers choose whos going where, and keep it secret till the draft

Well, its a little known fact that when J.R. renegotiated his contract, one of the major stipulations was that he would always call RAW with Lawler, or at least until his retirement. Good ol' J.R. has every reason to be upset. I imagine he sees this as being stabbed in the back yet again by a company thats taken him for granted for a long time. I don't blame him personally, but I hope he finds inspiration in Paul's willingness to move for the good of the company, though I don't know how long thats going to last.

Your respect doesn't pay his bills, tbh... I just think he showed a great lack of professionalism in his reaction. I still don't understand why people think he lacked professionalism. They should have told him beforehand for one thing. It took him completely be surprise. He didn't leave the broadcast stand. He looked as if his home for the past 15 years was stolen away from him, unannounced. I would be sorely disappointed too. Yet, he didn't complain on air, he got up, switched tables, and did his job. I don't blame JR for almost quitting because they're giving him the shaft here. If anything, I have more respect for him for sticking around and not quitting after that garbage. I just hate Michael Cole and don't want him on Raw.

First of all, Wrestling doesn't make people as rich as one might think. He may be making a couple hundred thousand a year, but he also has to pay for his own transportation from city to city via plane as well as rental cars. Add that up in a year where they travel to a MINIMUM 52 cities a year (just for RAW broadcasts alone). Once you add up transportation, a salary of a couple hundred thousand a year doesn't make you as "secure" as you'd think.
Secondly, JR is no longer in an office position. When he was, he was a salaried EMPLOYEE of WWE. once he became just talent, he became an independent contractor just like the rest of the boys. When you're an independent contractor, then yes, you can tell your "client" what you will and won't do. Vince is JR's client. Ask Vinnie to supply health insurance and do the taxes for everyone on the roster and he'll quickly tell you no because his roster are not employees, just independent contractors. Therefore, since Vince likes the term independent contractor, then that means he is a client of JR's services.
Let me put it in a manner you can relate to.
You need your porch fixed. You find several contractors that can do the work that you want. You hire a contractor to do the work and he comes out and tells you what he will and won't do for the amount of money the job costs. He is providing a service for you and you are his customer. That is what an independent contractor is. Someone who provides his services for a fee.
Vince wanted JR's commentating services. JR told him how much it would cost Vince to have him call RAW every week. Vince agreed and RAW was the show JR agreed to provide his services to. Now that Vince has changed the terms of their arrangement, JR could legally quit and Vince couldn't punish him for it. JR agreed to provide services for RAW. Over the years, he's been very vocal and public about not wanting to change his lifestyle and his work schedule to tape Smackdown. Why is everyone so "shocked" that he is upset about the situation?
Vince is a client, not the boss. If you work in Stamford in WWE Headquarters, then Vince is your boss. As independent contractors, Vince is only a client paying for services rendered.
