Hi all. New to this forum but i am after some info. I recently picked up what appear to be the Bulgarian Blimp and Killer Klondike from the Diamond toy makers IWA Star studded wrestler line but the colours are completely wrong and I can't find any reference of these colourways anywhere. I'm pretty sure they are not repaints Could they be a Bootleg of a Knock off??? If any one has any info on these guys that would be great. Link below to a photo of them on my instagram as i couldn't figure out how to upload a pic. http://instagram.com/p/CdWBdW6scGe Cheers These are most certainly knock offs, when molds get tossed or retired bootleg makers can aquire them via. Factory relationships or simply purchasing them ( hence Jakks RA body’s making the rounds for bootlegs now ) I have two from this bootleg series I’ll have to find and compare to the IWA figs. Hinstar is an awesome bootleg company from the 1990’s that did a lot of sci-fi, army, Barbie & Wrestling Knock offs. They’re my first guess as to who could’ve produced these.

Another option is if you’re running out of space is to really look at the voids in space you’re not fully utilizing in that room.
I recently started a “warehouse/garage shelf” display case build from scratch & I now have space to display 4 scale rings then all of my loose figures.
Looking into alternatives to maximize your space should be the first step if you don’t want to let go

My first initial thoughts is to thin down the video games, as a Physical media collector as well I understand the importance of keeping physical copies, but we’re approaching the singularity with video games imo.
Between Classic hits 4 in 1 rereleases on new systems and emulators with thousands of games maybe winding down to a handful and converting to those all in one systems solves that.
Personally for hasbros I’ve never been able to complete the set because my unwillingness to spend so much for specific figures but I’m more than half way through, I collect used ones with wear because it doesn’t bother me. As a investment I think having a complete or near complete MOC is a easy sell for a high price with many ppl still trying to get a full set or secondary collections etc so you’ll be at no loss.
Last thing I’ll say is that every good collection should be displayed…if you and your wife are moving and you can’t have a dedicated space for your collections are you even getting to fully appreciate them?

That could very well take the cake, Bull Marks Sofubi Wrestlers are on paper as the first licensed Wrestling Figures to have been made:
These could very well be the first Wrestling figurines produced, maybe some older wooden toys too

Thank you for the kind words!
That is the only Tokyo Dome related thing I’ve ever seen, Kinnikuman & Bandai released a Coliseum Playset that vaguely referenced the Tokyo Dome but it’s pretty rare to come by.

Just got my Bushi from the Ringside sale, has anyone else had trouble getting the other head sculpts on? The one that comes in the box is super loose on the figure but the others will not go on. I am going to have to heat them, I guess. I've not had that problem with Naito, Hiromu, Tana or Ishii :/ I had a issue with one of the heads, unfortunately it was the one I liked best

So not long ago I had inquired about some obscure info on CharaPro here in another thread.
After translating some articles & interviews I think I came across most of the information I needed for my Exhibition.
I hardly come on the forums anymore, but this is the most appropriate place to share.
I run a Instagram page - @nowhomenyc where I collect, curate and sell mostly vintage Japanese goods, & on my website I have a exhibition space where I dive into the history of Japanese toy lines. My first exhibition covered the Yujin Puroresu “Gumball” Gatchapon & Blind Box figures.
My second exhibition covers CharaPro’s transitions from working exclusively for NJPW, then becoming its own entity, & later creating Mogura House.
Later next week I’ll be fixing up some mistakes, adding some images & a little more content that my website couldn’t previously hold. But before I do so I’d like to share this with you all & get any possible feedback.
My names Matthew Roman. My Instagram is @nowhomenyc My website is Nowhomeshop.com
Within my website is the Museum section where you’ll find the exhibitions. Thank you!

Side note for the Keychains & Gatchapon series….even though the sculpts resemble Bandai’s work, Gatchapon typically revolve around trends, so many companies hop on the band wagon to produce their take on things…the NJPW Keychain set you’re talking about comes from the “Sofvi” finger puppet styles. This makes it harder to Pinpoint unfortunately, but my CharaPro exhibition I’ll feature on my site is a few questions away from being complete. I’m hyped! Roman, what’s the URL of your site? I’d love to check it out. I love all things wrestling figures/history and the Japanese lines are some of my favorite. We’ve recently connected on IG^ but to everyone else here who’s interested it’s Nowhomeshop.com Check the Museum exhibition section for my coverage on the History of the Yujins/Gumball figures. My Instagram is @nowhomenyc

Great chunk of information ^
Bandai has their hands on a lot of subsidiaries including Yujin for the late 90’s-early 2000’s Gachapon Super Real figures.
The mini big heads is a tricky one, the CharaPro ones have no debossed trademarks on the bottom, the Kinnikuman ones do, I have other DBZ ones that actually credit Coca-Cola as the manufacturer on the bottom piece.
CharaPro & Mogura did use the same factories but what’s stumping me is the legality between the name change. I’m sure they created a new company just to acquire the licenses of Independent wrestling licenses & NOAH. Liberty Planet also has been involved in several Mogura & CharaPro productions.
My theory is that NJPW fronted the Bill for the design team that we would later know at Character Products, they would later be credited on the cardbacks. So maybe the line succeeded enough for them to continue it without NJPW’s deep pockets, but by then they’ve likely already picked up AJPW around Mutoh’s transition. Then Mogura House starting in 2002 was likely NJPW agreeing only to work with CharaPro if it was only AJPW - NJPW - & the MMA/Kick Boxing figures they also produced.
I’ve translated every article & even adverts in Weekly Puroresu mags trying to uncover more info but not much is clear :/ There’s two people in mind that has been a day 1 collector of The Hyper Real wrestlers, one of them is old WF member STOMWJF…. I should reach out to him.

That Onita figure hasn’t surfaced for me, I import a lot of Japanese figures and it has never popped up for me. Likely to have been scraped.
The Muto-Keshi was exclusive to the ticket holders, not available online. I’ve bought one through a Japanese seller but they’re already rising in price to about $30 for the figure excluding shipping.

Hey everyone, I’ve been doing a case study on the lines of yesteryear trying to track down some information on what we all know and love as “Charapro’s”
I’m a collector and seller of these Japanese wrestling figures, I have a few unanswered questions I’d hope some Wfigs OG’s can help with.
My questions : is the DDT Hayabusa figure made/produced/ sculpted by the same team?
I’ve confirmed that NJPW has hired the Charapro team to design those figures under their dime, hence why Charapro doesn’t get credited on the earlier waves of Hyper Heroes. However was Mogura house a subsidiary of Character Products to get more Wrestling promotions a figure deal?
I’ve also noticed that Liberty Planet is credited on cardbacks for specific runs or release with AJPW and others Misc. lines.
I’m shooting for the moon here, but I hope to unsurface any and all information regarding Japanese wrestling figures in that 5” Scale with Hyper real sculpting.
Thanks

Brian Flynn responded to a comment asking about NJPW in the latest Gi Joe post…his answer was “it’s complicated” So I’d assume it has to do with contractual related things or more on NJPW’s side.

Last I checked I was on a figure website, in a section talking about New Japan Pro-Wrestling….who’s presidents are known for giving things a hard time internally.
Not Politicians or Gas prices
