Exactly this. The “Hasbros did it too” is not a valid defense here. They didn’t do it to this extreme (no pun intended). The exaggerated features Hasbro did were almost always done in a stylized way that were far more balanced than what we have been seeing since H&F debuted. I genuinely wonder how long is too long for them to actually call him out on it? Do they need to be dragging their knuckles before they actually say something using the same tone saved to scold Mitch or Bill? Agreed. And if you go back and look at the figures in the Hasbro line, very few of the figures had arms that reached the knees. I think Zombie has a reputation for being a bit snappy when anyone offers any form of criticism and a bit stubborn, however constructive it is but I wish he’d realise this kind of thing is only because we want the product to be as good as it can be, we want to buy the stuff he’s making, he needs to be open to change. Overall his stuff is by far the best retro on the market and for me closest to Hasbro (again, on the whole) and I love Ron doing the designing, I just really wish he would make the change on the arm length.

Really disappointed with those Canadians, they look nothing like either of them even after the ‘updates’. I was hopeful Mitch was improving as MOM were decent (despite no gold) but these Quebecers are awful which is a real shame as they’re a good fit for extension of the Hasbro era. Zombie already has MOM signed so I’ve no doubt they will be far superior when they eventually come outso Mitch’s are a placeholder for the orange card series. I was still hoping to be able to continue to support Mitch as his choices of talent are good, was also looking forward to the Rougeau brothers but assume they will be as bad as these Canadians so I could be out of grapplers and gimmicks all together. If I knew Zombie were bringing out the same figures I'd wait for Zombies... Yeah I didn’t find out until after I’d ordered MOM from Mitch, a bit of a bummer but at the same time, they look decent and at least it meant I can have a complete Orange card series. I’m guessing Zombie’s will be a little while yet with how much he’s got lined up next year. I don’t think they’re ALL listed but I believe most of who Zombie has signed is listed on his website so I will check that moving forward to try not to spend money on inferior product.

I love Zombies but I do wish he would shorten the arms. D-Freedom and the pod seemed to suggest Hasbros would be the same if you were able to elongate the poses they were in. I get what they mean but these Zombies are even longer, unnecessary.

Sorry if I’ve missed this elsewhere in the thread but does anyone have any pictures of powertowns next to Mattel elites for comparison of scale? Understand the powertowns are slightly taller? But do they still look ok displayed together?

Still disappointed the final product will have two identical IC titles. The original pictures looked like they correctly had one ‘new’ and one older looking IC title, which would have been a great accurate detail to the event.

There are a few options I can see working really well, the biggest of which is that Warrior needs some running / shaking the ropes hair, and it doesn’t need a new scan. Also, if they ever get the rights to Flair back, you could release the exact same figure -say, red trunks and boots - to represent multiple eras just by changing the hair. JCP longer hair, WWF ‘91 run shorter hair, and WCW bowl cut. I like all of those ideas and hope we get them one day soon…but I just think they can and should achieve it with the extra heads, not a fan of interchangeable hair, personally.

Mattel have a history of releasing the least generally desired looks of talent first and it wouldn’t be the first time they didn’t get round to what most people wanted before they no longer have the rights (Dudley Boyz doing the late return run for example).
I think I’ve heard the theory is that they do this to maximise the commercials as if they release the ones people want most first, the lesser desired looks wouldn’t sell afterwards but that just seems like skewed logic to me.
Having said all that, I’m hopeful people are jumping the gun here, we know figures, particularly from smaller companies take forever to come out and this line has been advertised for a long time. I’m hoping this is one of those cases where the deal for these were done before they signed the WWE deal so that company are allowed to do these and no more.

I feel like we’ve been gradually conditioned to expect less and less with Elites and only expect quality with Ultimates.
Should be no excuse for that headgear to not look far better than it does, it’s an extremely casual and cheap attempt and I think we should expect better at elite level pricing. A pretty plain figure, feels like they’re suggesting the new biceps (?) is enough for us to be happy with?

I’m assuming/hoping the back of Bret’s jacket is Hart Foundation?
Real shame they didn’t take the chance to include a Canadian flag here, not sure when we’ll get the appropriate chance again? Won’t comment on the headscans but at least it finally looks like we have some decent glasses.

WM12 HBK has 3 Entrance greats with knee pads and gear but it's basic. The WM elite, with no pads and no gear. The battle pack with the crapty basics. We need a definitive 4th as an ultimate, with (better) gear, with kneepads, and a couple heads. Yeah that HBK head needs upgrading big time but I’m not keen on their latest trick of using old man HBK scans and putting younger HBK hair on him like the latest DM.

If this is a step towards godwins then it means we’re a step closer to ministry Mideon so that’s a thumbs up.

It’s just frustrating as tiny boutique companies have a better idea of what we collectors really want. The next retro set just isn’t it. (DX looks great tho) Time and again, Mattel has found ways to undermine themselves with this line. This is my biggest issue. Those companies have better sculpts and MUCH better character choices. The only drawback is that Mattel has way better prices. The peak of my fandom was during the Hasbro era, so I can easily be swayed to buy names like Men on a Mission, Max Moon, Bastion Booger, Todd Pettengill, and King Kong Bundy. But why on earth would I want a Hasbro style nWo, who not only wasn’t from that era, but wasn’t even from the same promotion? What absolutely kills me is that Mattel has the PERFECT pool of talent to make an absolutely flawless continuation of the WCW Galoob series, but they’ll never do it. We could have a Galoob style series right now with Cactus Jack, Vader and Harley Race, Rick Rude, solo Ron Simmons, Stunning Steve Austin, Paul E. Dangerously, Jake Roberts, Lord Steven Regal, Diamond Studd, Vinnie Vegas, British Bulldog, etc. if Mattel and WWE would only pull the trigger on it. Probably an argument that their pool of talent for a Galoob style line and the ability to give us plenty of those that were never made is a fair bit bigger than their options for filling in the Hasbro line, which is why, as you say, they’re having to utilise the likes of DX/NWO which don’t really appeal to Hasbro enthusiasts as much as the likes of Zombie and even Chella/Epic who can fill in the missing talent we didn’t get back then.

A McMahon family pack would be a great way to get a Linda out, complete with wheelchair.

We’ve already got the vast majority of those so I wouldn’t personally be wanting to pay for those sets. It’s tough because it would be a good way to get more obscure characters that might not be strong enough for a mainline elite, like a Mideon for the ministry of darkness…but we already have the majority of the others so you’d be spending $80+ for a Mideon basically. I’d take a Mideon with Gangrel and Minisyry Paul Bearer plus a street clothes Taker or something like that. That would be great and it would be worthwhile as we haven’t had any of them, maybe throw in the symbol too…but whether they would be confident of reaching a minimum order I don’t know, they’d have to throw in another ministry undertaker which I could deal with to get all the others. I love the Paul bearers coming up in 106 and they are needed but I do think we need jet black hair, roll neck and blazer ministry bearer too. Usually red and black suit if I remember right.

I probably won't be getting any of these Monday Night Wars figures, because I begrudge paying these small time online businesses for their unreasonable increasing prices and their "Take it or leave it" attitude when you try to negotiate with them. Just because they carry Legends figures at retail in the UK now, it doesent mean that you have to jack the prices up on the other exclusive sub lines. The Eric Bischoff Ruthless Aggression figure was priced in the £70 range. Ridiculous! If it makes you feel better it’s way too tall AND has giraffe neck. It’s got the Dean Ambrose legs and torso and the longest neck peg they got. Hope all that is fixed for the ultimate that’s coming with the Nitro ring. Don’t even want the ring so already having to pay a silly price to get the Bischoff we all need.

Can’t see if his top is covering it but I hope the new torso isn’t too slim at the waist for the legs. Some other pictures I saw left a big gap and it looked awful. Yea I can confirm there is a gap. The lower crotch piece is a little too big for the new torso unfortunately. Mattel giveth, Mattel taketh away
