I was joking. In all seriousness though, I wonder if we may see this kind of approach going forward for big outside talent. Sign a deal, pump out merch over a year, culminate in a HOF induction. While not the HOF side, that definitely seems like the strategy recently. Mr. T, Zeus, Ali. It seems like they at least tried with Bad Bunny. I could see them pursuing others like Rodman, LT, Snoop, etc who have loose WWE ties.

I have very few carded figures mixed in with over 1000+ loose and ive never dusted the collection nor have i ever noticed anything more than the usual small specs on the actual shelf vs the figures. If anything the carded stuff has collected more dust if that makes any sense. I think it comes down to where/how you display them and temperature/moisture/climate conditions. Mine have always been in my semi finished basement on shelves and we run dehumidifier’s/heat as needed Same here. My figures are primarily on Billy book cases, some of which have glass doors and others are totally open. I haven't had to dust either in years and everything looks great. My collection is also in my semi-finished basement, which isn't a super high traffic area. I definitely notice more dust buildup on collectibles in the common living spaces.

Shipper hasn’t hit any of the Walmarts I looked at in Pittsburgh. Swear we just don’t get them or they are sent out to greensburg They've been found at North Huntingdon, North Versailles, and Butler. Nothing in Cranberry as of Friday and Gibsonia usually doesn't get shippers.

Great looking figures, though they really need an alternate head without the visor.

I found the shipper yesterday in PA - the WM figures are only packed 4 to each section with a cardboard bumper in the back, so two full sets. There were some missing figs from 106 and MNW when I got there, so not sure what the totals were. But when I got to it there were:
2X SCSA 3X Hall 3X Hogan 0 Undertaker
Note that it was in the middle of one of the main isles, but nowhere near toys.

Found MNW elites in Butler, PA tonight. In a shipper with Mania elites and Elite 106. Thanks for the heads up! I was able to score Hogan, Hall, SCSA, and a regular Bearer. There was still 1 SCSA and 2 each of Hall and Hogan left. No Taker, but the figure sucks and I can use a head from the Legends Luger for the BAF.

I love this! It's the perfect way to keep older figures accessible to newer collectors without eating up mass retail slots that could be used for new figures.
Kane is the only one I need for my collection, but excited to see where this goes even if most will be passes for me.

It's not even a matter of if the case is winnable. It's a matter of if Jazwares/AEW wanna risk an expensive drawn out court battle over a toy they'd make little money if not lose money on even if they won. If they thought the case was winnable and they'd make hand over fist money from it they'd have done it already. Out of interest how were PWT able to release Surfer Sting Micro Brawlers? Different licensee, different risk assessment. It's not a question of whether they can legally make a figure, but rather if they make a figure, what's the likelihood of a lawsuit, costs, would the product be embargoed, etc. The overhead on Brawlers is very minimal and they're pretty low visibility vs Jazwares.

I can’t believe people still think Sting is going to sign a Legends deal with WWE rather than sticking with AEW. The guy is loyal and how shown his (confusing) love for Tony Khan and AEW. We’ll be seeing more Jazwares Sting figures rather than Mattel Sting figures. And I’m sure The Outsiders Ultimates will go up for pre-order on Wednesday, as well as loose/MOC pictures being shown. This, Sting even took a pop at WWE at the presser right? Hes shown time and time again he's loyal go those who are loyal to him. I think even in retirement he gets AEW paycheck for doing very little. He's a big name to have associated with the brand. From what I recall he's also been pretty successful outside of wrestling. I think he did well with real estate and is very set financially. Doesn't mean WWE can't/won't happen. But it doesn't seem like a fit unless there is more to the story.

I'd echo 1997, in terms of years that should be Mattel's sweet spot.
There are top acts from that year missing like The Patriot and LOD, plus a ton of the midcard.
There are definitely periods with far fewer figures, but considering how well the New Gen and AE WWF eras are represented, 1997 feels VERY light.

Why are they so sure it’s his last brawler? Are they under the impression that he is signing a legends deal? Why wouldn’t AEW just sign him to a different contract? That's my big question too. It could be that his AEW relationship is ending entirely after his retirement or Ryan is over hyping this to milk profit. Either scenario seems possible to me.

OK, I am bored, so diving in and taking a guess as to what we will see for the rumored Legends, based on what we know of who is (supposedly) signed. Sandman - now rumored to be in Elite 111 so I am expecting at the very least renders, if not actual photos of him. He was added to the WWE Supercard game in November. The Dudleys - No lineup yet, but rumored for as long as Sandman, and they do have those titles for sale too - Renders if not photos of these figures. Both were added back to the WWE Supercard game in November Headbangers - We have known about these for (I believe) almost a year, so fully expecting to see photos of these. Both of these were added to the WWE Supercard game in November. Muta - This one is interesting. I believe that he will be part of the line, but we may not get anything until SDCC. He has not yet been added to the WWE Supercard game, but he is part of the 2K download for the forthcoming game, and both are made by the same company Raven - I would love this to be a surprise, but if this was a more recent signing, it may not happen until SDCC. There is no evidence of him in the WWE Supercard game or WWE2k24 roster Brian Pillman - We just had the news about the signing at the beginning of February, so I am guessing we do not see anything on this until SDCC, at the earliest. No evidence in WWE Supercard or WWE2k24 roster. The Steiners - Obviously we know they are signed, and have had figures already, but not the ones we want the most. I think we see these either at Wrestlemania or SDCC. What I find interesting is that they both debuted in the WWESupercard game at slightly different times. Rick debuted in November 2022 and Scott in February 2023. Rick had his figure first in Elite 104, and Scott a month or so later in Elite 105. Another interesting aspect is that in the WWE Supercard game, Rick's first two cards were both in the attire that is the same as his first figure. Scott Steiner's was also similar enough to his first figure that I would call it the same look. They did then have more cards in the summer of 2023, and Rick's were all the classic early 90s looks, and Scott had 2 Poppa Pump looks and 2 Classic looks. I am guessing we will see these two in classic looks in either the MNW line or the Legends line. Or maybe both. CM Punk - There is no doubt in my mind that he is going to get the Cody Rhodes treatment as far as figures go. He just signed at Survivor Series, so his figures will not hit until next Fall at the absolute soonest - unless there is a way to pump out 'Best of' Punks somewhere - but based on what Steve has said in the past, those are not as easy as we would think. Regardless I am maybe expecting renders of his debut walk out at Survivor Series, or one of his subsequent appearances on Raw or Smackdown, classic Punk in the Legends line, the Greatest Hits line, and maybe the announcement of a CM Punk in the lineup maybe around Elite 115. I would then expect maybe at SDCC or even Ringside Fest, an announcement of an Ultimate CM Punk. OR - one other possibility is if they will do a Mattel Creations figure for Punk like they did Cody and Logan Paul. But have no doubt we will get some CM Punk news at Wrestlemania week. Finally I went through the WWE2K24 roster completely to see who is in there that is not in figure form - not counting current wrestlers. If they are a current wrestler, we know that they are possible to be made. These are the roster members who have not yet been made in figure form. These are Adam Pierce, Bad Bunny, Bobby 'the Brain' Heenan, Bray Wyatt, Cathy Kelly, Uncle Howdy, and finally William Regal. It has been a long time since we saw Heenan in the line anywhere and while we have Adam Pierce in the game, there is no Nick Aldis. Will we see any of these? We will see, but hopefully we get a William Regal soon, he is overdue. This is a great list. Hoping to see these soon. I would add Hillbilly Jim. A few months ago, it was announced he had signed a new Legends deal. I want to see a better Elite than his original one. Would love to see real fx and a sculpted overalls as opposed to soft goods. He would also be ideal for Coliseum Collection, Retros, and even Superstars. Punk is definitely getting the Cody treatment, plus probably a lot more since he has a much more iconic WWE library than Cody did pre-return. And they'd have minimal design work to update older designs as Ultimates or Greatest Hits. I haven't seen anything on Raven that makes me think he's signed. I'd love to be wrong and easily could have missed something. Anybody know what the original source was, or if this was just something that got repeated enough times that it became a assumed? Pillman seems like a potential quick inclusion. His Legends figure would be a great candidate for Greatest Hits, and a Hollywood Blondes fig would be budget friendly and the design work is 90% done. Dudleys are probably tougher from a budget perspective, but again the existing sculpting could help expedite a 00s look. There are a few other names who are/were likely signed - Terri Runnels, Ivory, Albert - who seem like they could pop up in the MNW line.

Losing Filthy Animals Rey is a huge loss. For a line with so many interesting options, the first two waves feel like absolute clunkers. What happened with filthy animals Rey? Don’t tell me he’s canceled??? Steve showed MNW S2 including a pink WCW Rey like the one that was included in the Nitro stage. I'm assuming Steve will address it at some point, but not looking good.

Without confirmation or news from Jazwares about this line, I'm treating this whole line as a non-canon event. Jazares has shown packaged samples for some of the figures. What makes zero sense is that they have finished, packaged samples (or more) and there's been zero info for when these will be released or any concrete Vault info. We really can't discuss how/why the figures are in the wild here. But look up third shift manufacturing if you're not already familiar and connect the dots.

I think there's still a lot to be said for how toyetic the characters of the past looked. I've mentioned before that I work for a network of children's shelters, so I do a lot of the shopping for kids in the system at Christmas time. As of last year, there were pretty much four constants when kids asked for wrestling stuff - John Cena, Roman Reigns, Macho Man, and Ultimate Warrior. They call them anchor talent for a reason. SCSA, Hulk, Warrior, Hogan, etc will pretty much always move merch. And the WWE machine does a great job of keeping those names relevant through various properties. If a kid plays WWE Supercard, they know the Warrior as being just as powerful as Cena or Reigns.

Okay, post screen prints or the video of them saying it every year in the Q&A. The last note I found was from 2019 regarding Haku having a Topps card. Bill hasnt answered questions on this board in years. They’ve done live streams on Instagram where both Bill and Steve have been part of them. I am not going to waste my time going back watching these videos to look for them. You can believe or don’t believe that’s up to you. PJ, I've listened to all the same interviews that you're referencing. You're giving those comments a lot more weight than they deserve, imo. 99% of contracts are going to overlap. Yes, there are rare situations where they don't. But most of those comments were around the time when Hogan was back under a WWE merch deal but they couldn't make him because his Storm figure contract hadn't run out and they were sick of people asking for Hogan ever three minutes. Sure, there will always be some oddball exceptions. But over the last 3-5 years, history has shown over and over that there is parity between licensed properties, and video games and cards have a much quicker turnaround time than action figures. Chyna, Bischoff, Steiners, Molly Holly, Stacey Keibler, re-signings of Shamrock, D'Lo Brown, Orndorff, and on and on all appeared elsewhere first. To act like we have no way of knowing who is probably available to Mattel just because Steve made a few vague comments about exceptions feels like not seeing the forest from the trees.

It’s not so much Vince as it was the concussion lawsuit. I feel like if that was resolved, the floodgates would open. The concussion suit has been resolved for a few years now. It was dismissed in 2020 and the Supreme Couty declined to hear an appeal in 2021. There were a few wrestlers who were originally in the suit who pulled out and took legends deals (Orndorff, Mable's widow). At this point the rest probably are either a case of they don't want to work with WWE or WWE doesn't want to work with them.
