To me it all comes down to pride. I work hard because I have pride in myself and don't want my name associated with anything sub-par. A lot of people lack that pride and just do the minimum. ...but then bitch when they don't get a raise.

I was going to post this in the "why other countries hate America" thread, but I didn't want to derail that topic. This is one of the things this American hates about America.
A couple years ago, a customer at my girlfriend's work came in to do the usual bank transaction(s), he was originally from England and works on a cruise ship. Since we had just gotten back from our cruise trip, she complimented the person on how incredibly nice the workers on cruise ships are and how much of a great job they do. Then she commented on how you hardly see anybody from America working on a cruise. He replied with, "I hate to say it...but you Americans just don't want to work."
As of now I feel like that statement is mostly true in my experience, especially in the job I have right now. Just yesterday I actually had to get up and walk away from the coworkers that I have lunch with because the whining and bitching was more than I could tolerate. It seems that we want to make good money, but we're not willing to work real hard for it. Any extra work that may need to be done here and there...better get extra pay for it! Have to stay an extra 10 mins to make sure a due date is met...that's ridiculous I can't work in these conditions! It just baffles me how they can say the position is so worthless yet feel like they should be paid much more for it. Granted, is this the job that I always had in mind? Of course not, but (a) it's better than previously being out of work for nearly a year and (b) that's called LIFE. The job was originally through a temp agency, and they offered me a permanent job position 6 months later. That's right, those who worked through the temp agency along with me and bitched all the way through it were also offered permanent spots too...and they accepted them. It is far from demanding, despite the bitching about that too. It just seems like there's no appreciation for a decent job or a job well done.
Maybe it's just how I was raised, or my job history. Anybody else get where I'm coming from or do I just sound like a "corporate drone"? Also to those of you who don't live in the US, does this sound familiar at all?

We are a large and powerful entity that frequently sticks its nose in places we don't belong. We're power hungry. We're money hungry. We kill a lot of innocent people in the name of "putting an end to terrorism", but then we cry foul when someone attempts to get revenge by doing the same thing we do on a daily basis. We're blindly arrogant and ignorant, and completely oblivious to the increasingly counterproductive measures taken by our government to make us "better". We refuse to accept the advice of other free nations who have gone through, and successfully counteracted the issues we currently face. I'll just re-post this, pretty much nailed it. It's just the whole jealousy excuse that falls on deaf ears for me.

10 bucks says Alex Jones will imply that it's not true and that they're conspiring against him.

And for the comment of "ruining the sanctity of marriage" - North American Man and Women have been doing it for years with sky high divorce rates, 72 day marriages (see Kim Kardashian), the Bachelor, So you Wanna Marry a Millionaire, drunken night drive-thru Vegas Chapels, etc etc etc!! What can I say, Slappy is such a homophobe... Kudos to France.

6 defensemen injured, that's got to be some kind of record.
Winning in a dominant fashion at this point is such a tease. But hey, nothing wrong with playing for pride.

Guys....I had my rights violated today. I walked by a police officer and he told me to "have a nice day". HOW DARE HE AND THIS CORRUPT GOVERNMENT TRY AND TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF DAY TO HAVE! I feel so violated. Holy reductio ad absurdum.

What rights has the Patriot Act, NDAA, et al. stripped from you? Give me a list. If the military knocked of my door and said they suspected a criminal is nearby, I would allow them in wholeheartedly. We live in a world where people shout that they have no privacy thanks to the government, yet they are the same people who post on Twitter whenever they have to take a big, juicy dump. - Searches without warrants - Arrests without charges - Indefinite detention without trial You know, little stuff like that.

Canada > America styll. At least we don't have soldiers overseas lying and killing innocent populations. I'll definitely give you this, along with things like gay marriage and not denying science.

So the Obama administration has announced they will not treat this guy as an enemy combatant. I applaud this decision. It's the right one. *que the calls for impeachment*

All I'm saying is that if the terrorist is not in my home, I don't want them rummaging through my crap. But you have nothing to hide Kliq...what are you worried about?? I still want to see people that had their houses searched complaining. All I hear is people who were no where near the action complaining. That's because the people in this area are thankful and pleased with the work of the police. Nailed it

I don't even know who Glenn Beck is tbh. What's the big deal about him?For me, he's not really. But that's only because I think he's mildly unstable. I also find it hilarious that he's poked fun at Alex Jones for being a conspiracy nut when being a conspiracy nut takes up quite a bit of his time. It doesn't surprise me in the least bit that he's pushing a "cover-up"...hours after it had been debunked.
