Not a huge amount to add, this was alright and the more you keep writing and reading (I can’t suggest strongly enough that you check out Trace’s RP from this show) the better you’ll get.
Agree with everyone that doing things like the VHS and now the letter are cool and an inventive way of approaching this which should always be encouraged.
My only advice outside of what's already been said is use pronouns more. If we were talking about Matt a second ago, and nobody new has arrived in the scene, I know it’s still Matt, just put he or something that describes him, alternate it up a bit. But reading Matt does x, Matt does Y, Matt does Z in the space of a few sentences just sounds odd and breaks the flow for me a little.

Thank you for the feedback E!
Joe was the one person I did try to account for in that scene, he was taking Ellie to bed, but it would help if I'd written stairs insteads of stares XD. Totally take the point though, I mapped that scene out as taking place over Skype, but reading it back there's no way anybody but me knows that which probably says an awful lot lol. I've often struggled with setting the scene - I think a big part of it is having aphantasia, in other people's work that stuff can be a bit of a chore for me to get through because I don't visualise the scene, and so it just doesn't matter much to me, but I appreciate that I definitely need to be giving people something to work with in that regard and just generally fleshing things out a bit more.

This was so entertaining. It’s great to see Trace back focused on his reputation, and I think you did a lovely job of presenting the different ways that he isn’t being shown the respect he deserves. The nods to Alex’s RP were nice touches, loved Trace’s reaction to the Press Conference, happy to see Anders back – just all round great stuff.
Is Danny Groff being himself and Maxine Halloway a joke that’s gone over my head or? That got a bit confusing for me, and my lazy eyes wanted them/him(?) to have a different colour scheme to Trace.
I spoiled the Lila reveal for myself scanning this yesterday, but that was really cool and excited to see how the dynamic between her and Trace works going forward.
I really hope DGX shows (not sure where we’re at with the extension in whatever US time we’re using now), because it’d be a real shame for this to be a no-show win.

WFWF HKYA! HKYA! – A Hole In Ma Pride I didnae see this coming.
The WFWF coming back was starting to feel a wee bit farfetched. But me? Invited to be a part of it’s resurrection?
Get tae f***.
I’m under no illusions, my first run with the WFWF didnae warrant this. Arrived, claimed I was gonna bring back the Intergalactic Spaceman Championship, got naewhere f***in’ near, left.
But I amnae gonna question it. They wanna give me another run at chasing my dream, course I’m gonna take it with both hands.
‘You’re only there because they’re short on numbers’ dinnae give a f*** ‘You’re only there because your kid’s ma works there’ dinnae give a f*** ‘You’re only there to be a ‘showcase’ jobber’ dinnae give a f*** ‘You’re only there because they thought it’d tempt Bishop back’ dinnae give a f***
The important thing is, I’m there. A wee little kid from Possil, skinny as a twig, nae natural aptitude for wrestlin’, spent the majority of his youth reading about UFOs instead a turnin’ up for training. And yet, somehow, here I am. The WFWF.
WFWF wrestler, Shuggy.
Sounds f***in’ class don’ it?
Hasnae gone exactly as planned I’ll admit, believe me, I did not have ‘make an enemy of Trace Demon’ top o’ the agenda. But tha’s life, Trace isnae the only WFWF wrestler who could pick a fight alone in a locked room, som’in I’ve just gotta get used to I guess.
But aside from tha’, honestly, it’s been pretty f***in’ ace.
Got myself a spot in Scars & Stripes, one a’ the WFWF’s greatest institutions. An’ who knows, if I’m at ma absolute best, and get a very, very healthy dose a luck, could book masel a shot at the Intergalactic Spaceman Championship. Yous never know do ya?
An' got masel a match with the Vanguard Champion right outta the gate, win tha’ an’ I’ve gotta be in contention for tha’ one right?
Hard no’ ta feel like everything’s coming up Shuggy.
--- Poppy: Alright say goodnight to your Dad Ellie. Ellie: Night Dad! Shuggy: Night Ellie, love ya. Joe whisks her away, she’s still waving halfway up the stares haha.Poppy: Thanks honey. Shugs seems a bit sad.Poppy: How you doing? Shuggy: Ah, you know, it’s tough bein’ so far away. Poppy: You’re always welcome, whenever you can make it. Shuggy: I know, I know, thanks. It must be hard. I just don’t know how to make it less so to be honest.Poppy: Got be glad to have the WFWF back? Shuggy: Yeah! That perked him up at least.Shuggy: It is, really good. An’ I guess you’re excited about it to? I read the article. Poppy: Yeah it’s really big for me, shame Joe’s being Joe about it. Shuggy: Hasnae changed then? Poppy: In some ways. But where the WFWF’s concerned. Not a bit, haha. Shuggy: I dinnae suppose he ever will. Not wrong.Poppy: Speak of the devil. Shuggy: Hey Joe. Joe: Hey, talking about me? Poppy: Just talking about how much we’re enjoying having the WFWF back. Joe: Ugh… lolShuggy: Watching Ascension, it’s just got me so pumped again you know. He knows Joe is hating this. I love Shugs.Shuggy: Mesh’s win, my wee spat with Trace, the Scars & Stripes battle royal comin’ back. It’s so excitin’ ya know? Got to get him off Ascension before he brings up EBR though, I cannot cope with hearing this again.Joe: Four hours of Alex Sean videos followed by a 30 second match. The WFWF successfully flying out you, Trace, and God knows how many others who had no reason to be there but failing to get three of the booked participants to the building. The f***ing Kool-Aid Man. Yeah, really exciting. Think we’ve dodged the bullet.Shuggy: Look I amnae saying it’s perfect, but let me be a wee bit excited you know? He does know who he’s talking to doesn’t he? I know we haven’t chatted about wrestling in a while, but he must remember that’s not what Joe does?Joe: I just don’t get why you want to be a part of that? Shuggy: I don’ know, I… I guess you’ve got tha’ luxury of pickin’ and choosin’ your jobs in pro-wrestling Joe. You’re a former WFWF World Champion, you arnae gonna struggle for bookings, and let’s face it, you havnae got any vices, nae expensive hobbies, you can live off what you earned for the rest a your days if you wanna. It's true enough. Can’t see that being enough to shut Joe up though.Shuggy: Me? For me it’s this, or I keep workin’ a couple of shows a month, keep working a nine to five. Keeping being a cog in the machine of whatever boring business will take me, struggle to contribute to Ellie’s future financially, and she has nae reason to look up to me, you know? Poppy: Of course she does, you’re her dad. Shuggy: Aye. Aye. It’s just, well, that isnae enough is it? Poppy: It really is. Shuggy: Well, isnae for me. Sad he feels like that.Shuggy: I donnae wanna be a nobody. --- If I’ve got any doubts about going back, honestly, it’s all about Ellie.
I donnae see her nearly as much as I should now 400 miles away. 4000 is pretty f***in’ daunting.
But honestly? With Poppy’s job, I’m hoping maybe it’ll help. Or at least tha’ the impact won’t be too huge.
An' hey, what have I got to lose? I amnae doing enough for her here.
Anyway, it's becoming increasingly clear…Shuggy: Are yous still playing tha’ game? Being a da is f***in’ hard.Kyle: Too easy. Kelsie: Next time I get to be Trace. I just wish I was being a da to ma wee girl not ma teenage brother and his lass.Kyle: Maybe it’d be fairer if neither of us had to be Shuggy. Shuggy: I heard tha’. Kelsie: AgreedAt least she thought she was whispering quietly enough that I couldnae hear.Kyle: Sorry bro, you really are s*** though. Shuggy: They’re create-a-wrestlers, you literally made me tha’ s*** you bawbag. Kyle: I value accuracy. Cheeky c***.Shuggy: You value accuracy? Look at them! I’m literally the wee hat away from being Peter Pan, and tha’ Trace is just bad. Really, really bad. Are those f***ing crocodile boots? What’s tha’ all about?
An I know it isnae real, but seein’ Kyle’s aberration of Trace flinging me round like a wee ragdoll doesnae fill me with confidence.Shuggy: Seriously though, if Joe catches you twos playin’ these s***y wee games when you start your training he will send you back up here so f***in’ fast. After he’s ripped them a pair o’ new arseholes.Shuggy: And considering I amnae gonna be here anymore to do yer cookin’, and cleanin’ and generally keepin’ the two of yous alive, you prolly wanna avoid tha’. Kyle: I will bet you any amount o’ money tha’ they release you again before Joe sends us home. Kelsie: You don’t have any amount of money, like any at all. Kyle: Shut up. Kelsie: Touché. Shuggy: You’re prolly right, I’m just sayin’ give yer head a wobble an’ have a think about what happens if you’re not, ‘k? No' tha’ he’ll listen to a word I say. Maybe Kelsie’ll make him see sense, she’s got her head screwed on.Shuggy: An’ yous two. Listen to everything Joe tells ya, take on board everything he can teach yous about being a pro wrestler. You can learn so much from him. Kelsie: Course. Shuggy: But please, for the love o’ god, donnae pick up all tha’ baggage. Tha’ communist bull, the holier-than-thou wrestling snob s***e. It eats away at him and it’ll do the same to yous if you let it. If he tries to teach yous how to be a human bein’, in one ear and out the other okay? An’ tha’s coming from one of his friends. They better not tell him this.Shuggy: Donnae let him drag you down. Kyle: Whatever. They’re definitely going to tell him.---Cannae say I’ve missed America too much really.
Generally I dinnae give too much of a s*** about politics. Isnae anything I can do about it, and I am no’ naïve enough to think I know nearly enough about it ta say much. But I certainly amnae mad excited about coming to the land of guns and sexism.
Whole place lacks the class and charm of Glasgee.
But I gotta admit, arriving at the Andrew W. Mellon, on the back o’ the Press Conference and Ascension. Everything was starting to feel a wee bit special.
This is really f***in’ happening.
I may no’ have been in the WFWF long first time around, but I did manage to make masel one good friend on the roster. And I knew bumping into her before He’ll Kick You Apart was gonna make it feel even more special.Shuggy: Y’awright Mesh? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Oh… hey. Doesnae seem quite herself, I was definitely expecting more bubbly.Shuggy: How you doing? It’s been too long! She gives a wee nervous laugh. No' the greeting I was expecting either.M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Yeah… Shuggy: Excited to have the WFWF back? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Umm yeah, yeah it’s good. Shuggy: I was so pumped seeing you beat POISON, congrats. M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Thanks. Well she’s determined to talk my ear off today int she?Shuggy: Time to get your title back now huh? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Yeah! At least that were a wee bit more enthusiastic I guess.Shuggy: Wondered if I could pick yer brains about Mason? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Mason? We’re not scared of him. Shuggy: I know you’re… we’re…(?) not. Dinnae mean that. Isnae like you to turn down a handshake though, I figure he must have done something pretty s***ty? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: His son died. His… what? F***.M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Have you met TITUS yet? He’s an alien. Shuggy: He… sorry can we go back a few steps? Johnny’s son died? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Car crash. Yeah you’d probably like TITUS, he’s huge. Shuggy: Are you feeling ok? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: I’m good. Really good. Going to be Vanguard champion soon. Beat Poison. G̷̛̮̣͆̽͐̍͋̚l̶̤̫̬̉͌̊̚̚a̸̟̰͓̦̾̋͘ḑ̴̡̭̪̞̫́ ̸͈̥͇̻͕̃͆̅͗h̸͕͒è̴͕̖͙̦͘͜ ̷͎̇c̶̰̎̀͝͝͝r̸̨̡͎̬̎̀͌͗͗̔ȃ̶̜͈̀s̶̢̩̣͕̃͛̈́̃͂h̷̖̖̹̦͔̣̀̎͜ḙ̸͈̼͔͙̤̭̊͠d̷͈̪̕ Jesus.Shuggy: … M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Umm, sorry, I really didn’t mean that. Shuggy: Do you need some help? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: It’s fine, I think, yeah fine. Shuggy: You sure? She nods, something aint right though.M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: I really should, I’ve… got to go. Shuggy: Mesh, if you ever need to talk I’m here, okay? M̴̊͐E̴̓͘S̷͑͝H̶̾̐: Okay. Bye. And off she goes. Isnae the Mesh I knew right now. --- Gotta admit, I tuned out just a wee bit after ma first run (I still cannae believe I can call it ma first run, pinchin’ masel) with the WFWF came to a screeching halt.
I love wrestlin’. I love the WFWF. Always have, always will. I think it were just to painful ya know? I didnae think I’d get another chance, and I thought I’d completely blown ma shot at the one thing I’d always wanted.
Thought I’d doomed masel to a miserable life, lamentin’ what coulda been if I’d got ma head in gear.
So yeah, I was nae watching that closely.
I watched SuperBrawl. Of course I did, couldnae miss that. I saw Jackson and Watts turn their back on you. But honestly, all I felt, was disappointment for Mesh. That in deserting you, all your ex-goons had done was cost her the chance to win back her title.
I was absolutely gutted.
If anyone deserved tha’ big SuperBrawl moment it was her, and the politics of your stupid wee gang cost her it.
That’s how I saw it then.
That’s how I saw it a week ago when I was told I was takin’ you on. I was ready to go out there and give everything to get a wee bit of revenge for tha’ moment your boys took away from her.
Now?
I still feel some of tha’, sure. But I gotta admit, knowing that you’d just lost your son. That your friends turned their backs on you when you needed them most.
F***.
I’ve got nothing but respect and sympathy for you Johnny. It’s a miracle you get outta bed every day, get yourself dressed and function after what happened to you. Let alone go to the ring night after night and defend tha’ title of yours. I didnae know him, but I’m sure Bryce would be proud of you.
And I know, I just know, Mesh has that same respect for you that I do.
I dinnae know what’s happening with her. I dinnae know why she wouldnae shake your hand at Ascension. But I know her, and I know she will. She’ll feel terrible about it, and she’ll put it right. Donnae know when, but I know she will.
The lass that ran away from tha’ offer at Ascension, that isnae her.
Donnae get me wrong. I admire you so much Johnny. An’ it’s certainly humbled me, put ma own parenting problems into some f***in’ perspective. But it doesnae change things too much for me.
Because ultimately, this? This is ma second chance.
Yous rarely get them, and when you do, you really gotta take ‘em.
This is ma chance to not be a loser. To give my daughter a reason to be proud of me.
I lose to you on night one, off the backa my first run with this company? Everybody starts questionin’ what I’m doing here, again. But beat ya? A win over the Vanguard Champion, and I instantly show all yous that this isnae the same Shuggy who left with his tail between his legs last time.
This isnae the same green lil’ alien enthusiast who clearly wasnae ready. This is now a much more polished wee alien enthusiast who is prolly just about ready.
I wanna win tha’ Scars & Stripes Battle Royal. I wanna be the second Intergalactic Spaceman Champion. I wanna shut tha’ wee red demon’s gob. Isnae likely, but you gotta aim high. But I definitely cannae do any of it, if I cannae beat you 1…2…3.
Isnae gonna be easy. I know that there’s gotta be so much pain in you right now Johnny, an’ I know tha’s gonna make you real f***in’ dangerous. I fully expect ya to channel all that anger, tha’ pain, tha’ grief, directly at me. An’ I’ll forgive yous for it. Believe me I will. If you go to far with it, well, I couldnae blame you for a second. I can only imagine what you’re going through.
An’ I know, that me, with ma skillset, I’m quite rightly the heavy underdog here.
But I’m from Glasgee. I can deal with dangerous. I can deal with pain. I can deal with bein’ the underdog.
What I couldnae deal with, is bein’ a disappointment again.
I’ve no intention of bein’ tha’.
I wish you all the best. I hope that having this place back can help you, I really do. An’ after He’ll Kick You Apart, I’ll wish you every success in this place, a really will.
But right now, I gotta be focused on doin’ wha’ nobody believes I can.
See yous at the ballroom.

This was great. Has anyone ever lost the tag titles? Loving the continued attempts to revive VHS alongside the WFWF. Mesh's return to being bright and bubbly at the start, but then ultimately not shaking Johnny's hand has me very excited for their encounter. I would have liked the end to flatter POISON a little more (a pin after a 20 count?) but otherwise great stuff, and as I say, very excited to see where Mesh goes from here and for her title match with Mason. From EBR’s awesome interview, to the lack of wrestling, to the Kool-Aid Man this show made me wish I was running Bishop so much. Oh well Shuggy’s fun, right… right? As E said, the juxtaposition of all the hype of Alex's comeback and then the match being that was great. A 'bad' show done incredibly well. And an awful lot to be excited about for the next one. pmsl

I know several before me criticized this for not being focused on your opponent enough. Just want to clarify my feedback, I wasn't saying it wasn't focused on your opponent enough Mesh (I always want more, but that's not my complaint), I just know you can do it better than I think you did it here personally.

So I mean this was excellent. Really well written, gave us a great view of where Alex is at, introduced us to his cast and a really nice exploration of Alex's history and how he relates to characters that - for me having not really been active at the same time as you for any length of time previously and not having been in the XWA - I knew were part of his story but I didn't really know anything about how they were connected. Your writing's really engaging and there's a healthy dose of funny s*** in there which is really powerful. I found myself laughing an awful lot at 'I don’t think this situation…' and 'I’m pretty sure like… black people… are the black people… of Canada' in particular.
Very similar feedback for this as I have for Mesh's RP, in that you take some really interesting and engaging creative choices with the presentation, both visually and audibly that worked really nicely. After working out it was by design and that I wasn't having an aneurysm I really enjoyed the visual of the overlapping speech while Alex was zoned out, partly relief, but mainly that was a cool way of doing it.
I can't remember if it was publically or privately on Discord but you were saying about judging RPs on what it is, not what it isn't. And on those grounds I have nothing to criticize, but I am not in that headspace, so feel free disregard the following. But I do lament having matches that are designed to be uncompetitive, and as a result writing without paying any regard to the opponent or match itself - unless I'm missing something this could have been written for literally any match at all. I think the challenge of fitting the match into the story you want to tell is a big part of what makes this artform most enjoyable - I'm guessing based on the mission statement feedback it's about 50/50 on how important that is to people, but you know I think this is a RP that calls for me to say that it's important to me. And I do honestly believe, that as good as this was, I would have enjoyed it a lot more if you'd had the constraint of an opponent you needed to respect more to write it for. And then someone newer to this who is trying to improve also gets the opportunity to go up against it, and is more likely to read it because it's the RP they lost to, and learn an awful lot from it. I think it's a double whammy loss of giving someone the opportunity to test themselves and the RP of the more experienced writer losing a bit of its edge. I know this RP was about setting pieces in place, and you did it really well, but yeah just throwing that out there.

Been a little while since I read any of your work, first off I want to say what I'm sure everyone else already has, stylistically what you are doing is great, I love the way you're presenting the distrubed intrusive thoughts (and that you are doing that, I always enjoy work that explores aspects of mental health), I think the SMS screenshots and the crazy bunny gif were lovely touches too. It's the sort of stuff that's really engaging and helps you stand out. Having the story told by Macy is a really fun idea, and I think telling the story from an alternative identity is so creative, gives you so much to work with and instantly tells us so much about Mesh's state of mind. I am a little bit uncertain about whether those intrusive thoughts are still Macy or what they are but I guess that's by design.
My main gripe is that I think the focus on the opponent and the match was a bit weak. The focus on toxicity as the theme of the RP and then bringing that onto Poison was lovely, I think you could have been a bit more direct in the link to be honest/driven home the idea that POISON represents that toxicity that Mesh is fighting, that she's fighting it in all areas of her life right now, rather than us just going from point a to point b in a kind of toxicity, that reminds me, poison here's the stuff about my match kind of way. I think it's a bit odd that you went with 'he looks like a monster' when he doesn't really, he acts like one, but it's a 5'11 character with a standard Lucha picbase. I think you could have drawn some nice parallels between the two in terms of their clearly being quite disturbed but not necessarily in a physically menacing/visually intimidating sense there. And I also felt a bit like there only being a few intrustive thoughts focused on a prior match were a missed opportunity in addressing your opponent, they give the opportunity to tell two Macy 'monologues' in one really, one being the confident 'she's going to kick your ass' style bit we got in the last legible sentence, but then also challenging her own thoughts about that match and what she's doing, and adding in some more self-doubt, I would have liked to see a bit more of that personally - we got it looking back at her previous encounters but yeah I think use it for your thoughts on the match too.
Overall though really fun enjoyable RP, I love what you're doing with Mesh's personalities, I think if you can more cohesively link Mesh/Macy's world and state of mind to her match/WFWF storylines then you will be in a very very strong place.

I ing adore sending your promo in on VHS . We should have faxed POISON promos read out by the announcers on each show. I think this was pretty solid. You did the important things for a return RP, established POISON’s frame of mind, where he’s been and why he’s coming back, what he hopes to achieve. I’m not sure the criticism of the lack of research is entirely fair, sometimes you’ll read a RP and it feels like someone knows nothing about their opponent and hasn’t tried to learn, but that’s not what this was. The ‘I’ll find out if she bleeds oil or blood’ line was cool, and you obviously took some time to try and figure out what POISON thinks about Mesh and this match. I think it’s just that you’re not that experienced at doing it. As a rule of thumb, reading the bio can be helpful, but you can’t trust it – you’re going to get much more out of reading your opponents last few RPs and show appearances to get their current state of mind and approach. Try to keep on top of reading everything if you can (it will help you develop no end), but if you can’t at least revisit your opponents last few RPs because that will give you the best understanding you can get of who they are and where they are right now. At the risk of being a complete buzzkill I'm not sure posting your RP first is something to aspire to or that should be celebrated. Generally speaking I think it’s good to use as much of the RP window as you possibly can (so basically unless you know you won’t have another writing window or you’re completely burnt out by the whole thing and need to give yourself a break that’s going to be longer than the RP window), not only would it give you that time to do that more thorough research into your opponent, but you never know when a great line, or concept or whatever is going to pop into your head that could be the difference between a solid RP and something great, give yourself as much of a chance as you can for those ideas to come to you. And then I also think it’s really helpful to do a good proofread and code it in a separate session to your writing when you’re fresh, not always advice I follow, but I think it’s useful if you can get into the habit. Keep going, looking forward to seeing you develop.

I love these types of things so kudos and hopefully you continue it. Also Kelly Macdonald is one of the more inspired e-fed picbases I've seen since some dude in the XWA used Ronnie from Jersey Shore. Thanks, I loved her in State or Play (the British TV series not the film) where she played a journalist so when I was casting one of my own she was a pretty route one choice.

WFWF.COM: Poppy’s Perspective – 16th June 2022 An awful lot has happened since I last shared my thoughts on all things WFWF with our fans. After a year of inactivity, Abadi Global Enterprises have completed their purchase of the most prestigious promotion in professional wrestling, and I am finally able to give my take on all things WFWF again.
And if the news of the takeover, the imminent return of WFWF wrestling, the returns of Kurt Burton & Alex Sean or the prospect of Josh Dean vs. EBR for the World Championship weren’t enough to get you excited, then I’m sure that, at the very least, Daehyun Moon’s voice will have gotten you excited.
There was a huge sense of expectation amongst the journalists in attendance and the most hotly anticipated press-conference in wrestling history certainly didn’t disappoint. I’m not sure any of us expected to see Alex Sean knock out Steely McBeam, or hear a live performance of Caribbean Queen from Billy Ocean, but we were very grateful for it.
Another huge announcement, on a night there were many, was the announcement of the company’s new touring schedule. A fantastic, forward thinking move which will hugely benefit the WFWF’s wrestlers and staff, giving them much needed time between tours to recuperate and spend time with their families. It may not have been the most glamorous announcement of the night, but behind the scenes it was definitely one of the most popular. The WFWF sent a clear message that it is an organisation primarily concerned with the mental and physical health of its athletes.
And towards the end of the night we found out that the very first tour, Ascension, will be leading up to the legendary Scars & Stripes. Once a centrepiece of the WFWF calendar, the famous event will be returning for the first time in 9 years, a move that has shown that while AGE want to bring a freshness to the WFWF, they aren’t going to neglect paying homage to the past.
Of course we’re all about opinions and this week I caught up with an ex-World Heavyweight Champion who has a decidedly different take on things. You can view the full video of my interview with Joe Bishop here or find a transcript below.Poppy Yates: Joe, thanks for joining me. Joe Bishop: My pleasure. Poppy Yates: It’s been what, just over a year since we last saw you in a WFWF ring, what have you been up to? Joe Bishop: It’s been a difficult year, but for the first time in a long time I’m enjoying what I’m doing right now. I inherited a wrestling school here in England that I’ve been running, and it’s great to be able to challenge the perception of professional wrestling that a lot of youngsters have. Poppy Yates: What is that perception? Joe Bishop: I… I guess I should have said perceptions. I think a lot of these kids have grown up in a world where the sport has been monopolised by the WFWF. So you get a lot of people who think wrestling is what they saw Philip Schneider do, the likes of Jake Slash and Devilkiller imitate, that it’s blood and glass and blades and essentially trying to end both your opponent’s, and your own, career every night until you eventually succeed with the latter. Then there’s another set who want to do what they’ve seen Drakz, Kyzer, Trace do, align themselves with better wrestlers and use them to get to the top. And then there’s a small few who just want to do what Yukio Blaze or Shawn Malakai did, they think it doesn’t really matter if they’re good or not as long as they send people home happy. Poppy Yates: Whereas you…? Joe Bishop: I teach them that it’s about finding ways to win within the confines of the standard rules of pro wrestling. And that success or failure at that endeavour is what should determine everything. There’s no right way to do it, but there’s an awful lot of wrong ways that have become far too popular. Poppy Yates: I take it, then, that you weren’t too interested in coming back to the new look WFWF? Joe Bishop: New look? Hah! No you’re right I wasn’t, I spoke to Bobby of course, but I wasn’t at all convinced that it’s something I should leave what I’m doing now for. And seeing EBR given a shot at the World Championship, having done nothing to earn it, was all the evidence I needed that I’ve made the right call. This is still the same old WFWF, putting popularity above ability, and profit above everything. Poppy Yates: I guess that’s one way of looking at it. Another is that the WFWF fanbase have a match they’re incredibly excited for right out of the gate. Joe Bishop: Sure. They, by and large, know no better. Poppy Yates: Huh, I’m still a little unsure why they asked me to talk to you to be honest. Joe Bishop: Nobody was more surprised than me. Poppy Yates: I take it you caught the press conference, you would have seen your protégé Shu… Joe Bishop: Protégé? No. Friend, sure, but I want to make it absolutely clear that I am in no way responsible for Shuggy. Poppy Yates: Ok, apologies. You will have seen your friend make his return to the WFWF, are you excited to see him back? Joe Bishop: Not really. I wish him all the best, but, well, it’s not the move he should have made. Poppy Yates: You must have at least been pleased to see him touch a nerve in Trace Demon. Joe Bishop: Not particularly. Everyone knows what I think of Trace Demon, I’m done talking about him to be honest. Shuggy would do well to steer clear. Poppy Yates: Is there anything positive, in the mind of Joe Bishop, about the WFWF’s return? Joe Bishop: Yeah, absolutely, I think it’s going to fail. Fans have spent a year looking elsewhere for their wrestling fix, and the majority have found wrestling that has a lot more going for it than the WFWF's ever has. Poppy Yates: Well if you’d like to see Joe Bishop be proved wrong, tune into WFWF Ascension on the 1st of July. Thanks Joe. Joe Bishop: Thanks. Looking forward to seeing how much gets cut.

Sounds exciting, and 100% agreed with Brennan, I think we're in an e-fed instead of just reading and writing whatever we want, because we enjoy the competitive element. The focus on the opponent, and how the fed impacts the character, is definitely what I'm most interested in and I think that's true of most of us.

I thought this was great. Good turnout. Loved the whackiness throughout. Hope Kurt isn't staying behind the announce table too long. I misread and thought we were getting Josh Dean vs. Billy Ocean for a second, so a little disappointed about that but otherwise top notch stuff

Wrestler's Name. ‘The Wee Green Man’ Shuggy (Hugh Boyd)
Heel/Face/Tweener. Face
Hometown. Glasgow, Scotland
Weight. 175lb
Height. 5'6”
DOB. 12/12/1995
Biography. Let's not beat around the bush, Shuggy is gonna struggle to make much of an impact in the WFWF. If it's not obvious from his stature, then it sure is when he steps in the ring. The young Scot is not a polished performer in the squared circle, but he is enthusiastic, confident and he has a gravity-defying, 100mph approach to his ring work that appears to have caught the attention of the WFWF scouting team.
He has improved somewhat since his early years thanks largely to being taken under his wing by British wrestling trainer Andy Yates, who saw taking the worst kid at his training school and making him a competent wrestler as a worthy project. Shuggy’s not as poor as he was when a fellow trainee christened him ‘The Wee Green Man’ (a reference both to his stature and his, exaggerated for the cameras, interest in Sci-Fi. But mainly meant as a reference to his atrocious in-ring ability and at the time complete lack of experience). It may have been meant to mock the young Scot, but Shuggy ran with it and has used it to try and increase his appeal with the audience.
The bhoy from Glasgee surely has a long way to go before he can compete with the upper echelons of the WFWF, and for now he seems content with having fun, wowing the WFWF fans and going into every match he has as the underdog. It may be an approach that struggles to secure results, but it should endear him to a decent chunk of the WFWF audience.
Style. Spot Monkey. High risk, high reward tactics.
