After getting the Ryu, would love for Jada to make figures from any of 1/2/3 in the exact same way. But yeah, nobody gets through a good lineup of them. Even McFarlane made some really strange decisions with the lineup. Storm is doing amazing but I felt like I found out about those too late in the process to start from scratch with it. I got Raiden and then just got cold feet over the price per figure. Plus, something in the $25 range would be a lot more ideal to roster build, even though I think Storm is worth the money. Agreed on Jada. The SF figures look like they’re based on old school SF2 art. Imagining what they could do with figures based on old school John Tobias art would be so good. Plus the movement would be killer. McFarlane had a decent sized roster for sure, but yeah, some very questionable additions. I didn’t need a Joker in a Mortal Kombat line, nor a second or third Spawn. The molds got repainted enough to give collectors a decent amount of figures between alt attires. Plus their Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Noob are genuinely really good figures.

A bunch of figures were on Target’s site this morning. The Mirage TMNT set, Splinter, Battle Damage Shredder, Foot Ninja, and the Toon April, Giant Frog, and Bug Man two pack. Anyone know if the splinter, shredder and foot soldier are exclusive to target? I don’t think so? I believe they may get released on Big Bad down the road. I’m not 100% sure though. I picked up the four turtles from the new movie yesterday. Playmates definitely has issues with collector pieces IMO, but their kid-aimed toy lines are always really fun looking.

I'm a member of an MK Facebook group and one of members said that Todd told him on Twitter that they no longer have the licence. TBH I'm a little tired of different companies getting the figure licence each time a new game is released. I dont like how the MK figure license has been passed around either. It has been with Hasbro Toy Island Infinite Concepts Palisades Toys Jazwares Mezco Funko Storm McFarlane To be fair, it’s been 30 years. Compared to something like DC, this isn’t a ton of companies. Also, McFarlane tends to have pretty limited runtimes with certain licenses when it comes to games, it seems. Storm has been since 2016 I think? That’s a good run, although the irregular releases mean we don’t have a ton of releases to show for it.

I finally opened one of the Target Exclusive TMNT/Stranger Things Leo and Eleven 2packs I got some weeks ago. My first thought after getting the Eleven figure out of the package is that it reminded me of the Thunderbirds movie figures from 2004 or Fisher Price's Rescue Heroes. Looked and felt about the same. I understand that was probably the point, what Playmates was going for; a collector toy with retro toy feel and look. "What if we had made Stranger Things toys in the 80s?" Although I like them, it is a weird set of toys. And its not the theme of the set that throws me off. These figures seem to be toys parading around as collector figures. They are more than kids toys, but they have not graduated to adult figures. Both figures had loose arm joints, but I still like the set. I hope the line continues. They have released all 4 of the turtles, but not all of the main Stranger Things crew. I got that set as a gift for Christmas. I took Eleven’s head off and put a Marvel Legends Jubilee head on it, and put her with a street clothes Wolverine. For what it is, I like it. Leonardo, I actually liked more than I expected to. They finally made turtles without reusing the 2012 toon classics mold, plus I believe the sculpts were done by Phil Ramirez, who used to work on the old Playmates stuff back in the vintage line. As a budget-friendly early Mirage era figure, I think it’s actually really good.

Just opened up Donatello’s portal. It’s a really cool piece, not sure exactly where I’m gonna put it. The lenticular portal effects are nicely done and pretty sturdy. I like it.

Lots of ways you could go. NECA will keep releasing the toon and movie stuff for a while I’d imagine, so it wouldn’t be long before they reissue the cartoon turtles (the last one was a year ago for the first Haulathon I believe, in style guide colors). As for the playmates “vintage” stuff, just be aware that they aren’t exact reproductions as some parts and coloring are different. But if you don’t mind that, they do look pretty cool in a display. I read here that there might be a SDCC exclusive turtle 4 pack? Would that be better to wait for? From what I can tell, the SDCC exclusive turtle pack is the Samurai set from the TMNT3 movie. Although if you’re a Mirage Comics fan, I saw people saying that the new comic 4-pack is expected to start hitting Target in the next few weeks.

I want to start buying some turtle figures. What would you recommend, the NECA cartoon 4 pack, or the SH Figuarts turtles? I like the looks of both. One vintage figure I have my eyes on is navy seal Mike. I want vintage figures too, I know playmates is making the retros now that I see in Target. Would you recommend collecting vintage? Lots of ways you could go. NECA will keep releasing the toon and movie stuff for a while I’d imagine, so it wouldn’t be long before they reissue the cartoon turtles (the last one was a year ago for the first Haulathon I believe, in style guide colors). I'm still waiting on Big Bad to ship mine. Hopefully soon. Same. Also it’s looking like Evil Ryu is an SDCC exclusive, I’m seeing that it should be available on Jada’s site to order if you aren’t at the con.

Anyone get in on the in-stock sale this morning? I started with 8 figures in my cart, then put in my card info and there were only 6 available, tried again and only 5 were available haha. Ended up with -
Baron Volligar Dorina Onoris Phobus Vallak Illythia

My only issue with the sculpted costume is that if you move the torso joint the whole thing will not join up. Agreed. That’s kind of a bummer when that happens, but I don’t mind it. With an overlay, (even without the NSFW element they’re probably trying to avoid) you’d get the same issue moving the figure side to side and having it be misaligned. Typically, figures at this scale are tough to do tight fitting clothing on from what I’ve seen.

For the uninitiated: How many different lines of TNMT figures are there currently? I can think of at least 3, but I suspect there's more? NECA Toon NECA Movie NECA Mirage NECA Archie NECA Monsters Super7 Ultimate Super7 Reaction Playmates re-releases And probably some others I'm forgetting. You also have the line coming out for the new movie. edit: I also forgot about those awful BSTAXN figures. Adding these - Playmates crossover two-packs - TMNT/Street Fighter - TMNT/Stranger Things - TMNT/Cobra Kai (not sure this is still going though) Playmates 6” classics series (movie/toon 6” figures) Playmates Mutant Mayhem movie line (might not be out just yet but there are photos)

Now now, it's a long standing tradition to never complete a Mortal Kombat roster in figure form, or get anywhere close. New line announcement, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, couple others... give up. And repeat. That's how it's been done for thousands of years. Hopefully Storm Collectibles will finally break the cycle, and slowly but surely complete the roster of the original trilogy of games AT LEAST (MK1,MK2,MK3,UMK3,MKT). And when all those are locked into their schedule and definetely happening, ideally I'd love to see the line expanded further to dig deeper into the original trilogy era. For example background characters (e.g. Masked Guard, Shadow Priest), rumor characters (e.g. Nimbus Terrafaux, Hornbuckle), comic/cartoon characters (e.g. King Gorbak, Oniro), concept characters (e.g. Rokuro, tiger-man Kintaro) and a select few SLIGHTLY later era characters (e.g. Fujin, Quan Chi, Tanya, Tremor, Onaga). But all that is getting way ahead of ourselves. For now Storm needs to focus on building the original trilogy roster and not get too sidetracked. I try to be patient with Storm and love their figures but lately they haven't been as dedicated to the original trilogy with the likes of MKX Goro & MK9 Shao Kahn being made. We've waited years for Kitana & Mileena and where are Sonya & Johnny Cage? Shang Tsung is also long overdue. That’s kind of a catch-22, since so many people missed Goro and Shao Kahn the first time around. They know these would sell to newer collectors, and by making them different versions, it would tempt longtime collectors to double-dip. Like me. For example, I like the classic Goro look, but I have no question the MKX will be the better figure overall.

When are these supposed to land? Do we know what retailers are going to be carrying them? People have been starting to find them in Target by the NECA stuff. I haven’t seen them myself yet, but I hope to find them soon.

Bought a S/V booster box and got 11 hits out of 36 packs. Then I bought the new Arcanine and Dondozo promo 3-pack booster blisters and hit on 5 out of the 6 packs.....so strange. I did manage to pull the Miraidon EX alt art though, so I'm glad I don't have to chase that one anymore. I’ve heard the hit rate on the Scarlet Violet set is unreal. I’ve never got any packs but I’ve seen friends get insane pulls.

Apparently McFarlane no longer have the licence for the Mortal Kombat 11 line. Not surprised with Mk 12 coming soon but I thought their line was awesome and full of detail. I just wish more of the roster had been made. I suppose whoever picks up the Mk12 line will as usual make Scorpion, Sub Zero & Raiden before they even consider the rest of the roster. Didn’t hear about that. Kind of a bummer, while I don’t think they were ALL great figures, Todd did some really nice ones in the MK11 line. Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Noob Saibot are all standouts for me.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting this but it isn’t different enough from the original one for me. If it was all black pants like MK1, I would have got it. The accessories are amazing, though. MKX Goro is up for preorder on Big Bad, he’s 105 which is lower than I expected considering the price for the last Goro and Kintaro. But this one doesn’t come with accessories, so keeping the price down might have been what their goal was for that reason.

The cape was a pain to get onto the collar. The cloth poking through the collar piece made it very hard to snap into place. I’m considering a custom cape with more wires so it hangs down more naturally and doesn’t flare out as much.

Hi guys.
Do people still even check this board for new animation? If they do, I've got some here.
