| WRESTLING OBSERVER WWE BATTLEGROUND LIVE RESULTS July 25th, 2016 by Dave Meltzer |
WWE Raw – 25th July 2016
**********
First Raw following the Draft last Tuesday and first Raw off the “new era” kicked off with Finn Balor!
Good reaction for Balor who was wearing his black gear, leather jacket rather than his Demon get up. Demon character wasn’t mentioned tonight. Also kicking off the show with a match Balor taking on Chris Jericho.
Michael Cole, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves were the announce table. Graves was giving Saxton a hard time from minute one.
Finn Balor defeated Chris Jericho via pin fall
Jojo was ring announcer, Nice to see Raw open with a match rather than a 20 minute promo but maybe they should have advertised Balor’s appearance throughout the night. Balor and Jericho got a good amount of time and had a good wrestling match which was designed to show Balor was “not just a rookie from NXT”.
Balor kicked out of the lion sault, blocked the Code Breaker and countered the Walls of Jericho before hitting his Coupe De Grace for the finish. Balor’s win was treated as a little surprising but not a total upset by the announcers, crowd reacted to Balor like a star tonight it will be interesting to see if the WWE can keep up Balor’s momentum.
Post-match, Jericho grabbed a microphone while selling the loss and demanded he be treated with more respect when Neville returned! Neville was injured in a match with Jericho and last night at Battleground for the first time Jericho took credit for Neville’s injury for the first time when threatening Randy Orton. Neville quickly put Jericho down and hit his Red Arrow before celebrating.
Announcers who were up by the stage, said they got word during the opening match that there was an incident backstage with Dean Ambrose trying to confront Stephanie McMahon. What was different here was the set up they had the camera’s join the altercation half way through showing Ambrose being led from the office by security and Mick Foley.
Ambrose was not happy that Stephanie screwed him out of the WWE title last night. Foley asked Ambrose to trust him that he would try and make this all ok. Ambrose warned Foley he better make it ok and not just try!
Roman Reigns was shown on the big screen winning the WWE title last night and the crowd were livid! Michael Cole will interview Roman Reigns later tonight. Reigns was shown happily walking backstage oblivious to what was going on with Dean Ambrose.
Apollo Crews beat Fandango via pin fall
Fandango was still in Breezango gear, the gimmick is Fandango and Tyler Breeze still want to be a team despite being drafted to separate brands. Crews hit all of his moves before winning with his power bomb, crowd didn’t care too much. Following the match Tom Phillips spoke with Crews who vowed to take advantage of the opportunity the WWE Draft presented to him.
Stephanie was going mad at Mick Foley backstage about how tonight was supposed to be a huge night for Raw to kick off the brand split and Dean Ambrose has ruined it, they have a lot to get through they haven’t got time to deal with Dean Ambrose! Foley pointed out that what happened earlier tonight wouldn’t have happened if Stephanie didn’t get involved in last night’s WWE title match. Stephanie told Foley they were a team and they need to work together but if Stephanie can’t trust Foley to have her back then maybe she made the wrong decision in hiring him as GM.
Michael Cole interviewed Roman Reigns mid ring. Reigns came out to heat like he was HBK in Canada. Crowd hated Reigns. Reigns dropped his “The Guy” line to more heat! Cole asked Reigns about his recent suspension but Reigns blew it off telling Cole he owned it and took his punishment and he doesn’t want to say anything more than he did in his statement saying it was behind him. Cole questioned Reigns asking whether when he said statement he meant his tweet. Reign’s didn’t look happy and told Cole it was done, dealt with and it was time for them to talk about what’s next for Roman Reigns as ‘The Big Dog’ leads the WWE and the Roman Empire into the New Era! Reigns proved he was the alpha male of the shield last night when he took back his WWE title. Roman said it was time to put the shield behind him and Reigns wants to play his trump card as WWE champion and have the Brock Lesnar/Randy Orton match changed at Summer Slam to Lesnar/Reigns II!
Reigns was cut off by Seth Rollins who came out limping selling his knee again. Rollins walked and talked. Rollins told Reigns he was lucky to be WWE champion, saying Dean Ambrose would be WWE champion if it wasn’t for Stephanie McMahon or he would be champion if his knee didn’t give out on him! Last night settled nothing! Rollin’s told Reigns to forget about Lesnar remind Reigns that Rollins was the reason Reigns could not conquer the beast and Rollins was the reason Reigns lost the WWE title at Money in the Bank! Rollins’ wants his shot!
Reigns challenged Rollins to get in the ring but Rollins refused only for Mick Foley to come out. Foley said the WWE title picture is surrounded in controversy and it’s affecting the entire brand and it needs to be sorted so tonight we would see Seth Rollins team with Kevin Owens to take on Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns then next week on Raw the former members of the Shield would meet in 3 separate singles matches and the man with the most victories will finish the night as the WWE champion!
So next week we would see Dean Ambrose V Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose V Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns V Seth Rollins!
Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte & Natalya via tap out
Highlights from Bayley’s appearance at Battleground was shown as was Banks making Charlotte tap out. Charlotte & Natalya actually had trouble teaming together playing of their history which was nice to see. Good match, good amount of time Banks got the victory by making Natalya tap to the Bank Statement. Banks motioned for the Women’s title afterwards.
Also as Banks and Becky were leaving a vignette played for Nia Jax “She’s Coming!”
Earlier tonight on the kick off show; Stephanie and Foley had Sheamus and Jack Swagger in their office. Stephanie wants them both to up their game, mentioning that they were both former World champions and she wants more from them or they face losing their jobs! After she walked off, Foley relayed the same message but in a much more respectable way. While we go do without the management drama, the dynamic between Foley and Stephanie is intriguing and could go many different ways.
Sheamus beat Jack Swagger via pin fall
Really strong match, which the crowd got into – they believed that both Sheamus & Swagger were fighting for something. Again they got a good amount of time. Swagger needs to get back in shape but looked impressive tonight. Swagger hit his power bomb for a strong near fall and also had Sheamus in his ankle lock at one point. Swagger survived white noise and the clover leaf before being caught by Sheamus’ Brogue kick!
Tom Phillips interviewed Finn Balor backstage. Balor didn’t get a lot of time to talk before being interrupted by the Miz. Miz looked Balor up and down in disgust before walking on…
Highlights were shown from Kevin Owens victory over Sami Zayn last night. Owens was shown getting ready in silence for tonight’s Main Event.
The Club (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) beat Lucha Dragons (Kalisto & Sin Cara) via disqualification
Match came about after the Club laid out Lucha Dragons on Smack Down last Tuesday. Cole noted that Raw was without tag team titles but didn’t mention if/how that situation would change. Enzo & Cass got involved at the finish jumping the Club and clearing them from the ring.
Enzo got on the microphone and after making some jokes let the Club no that they weren’t finished with one another yet. As Enzo & Cass were leaving the ring Lucha Dragons seemed to upset with them for getting involved in their match but Enzo and Cass walked away from the Dragons.
Mick Foley was outside of his office talking with Tom Phillips told Phillips that there have been a few teething issues with him and Stephanie and Foley was aware coming in that this was not going to be easy and there were going to be many ups and downs but he is determined to make sure this works. Rollins walked past Foley straight into Stephanie’s office and you could hear him shouting what are they going to do about Mick Foley and the WWE title!
WWE Cruiserweight Division is coming to Raw!
Wyatt Family video played
The Miz (w/ Maryse) beat Titus O’Neil via pin fall
Miz before the match again claimed to be the greatest WWE Intercontinental champion of all time. Miz demanded more respect saying he should have opened tonight’s show or headlined tonight’s show and not a no name from NXT!
Miz beat O’Neil following his Skull Crushing Finale, Miz beat both members of the Prime Time Players in the last 24 hours.
Dean Ambrose pacing around backstage said he was screwed out of the WWE title last night! Ambrose had the match won, Reigns pinned but Stephanie got involved trying to make sure her boy Seth Rollins took the WWE title! Ambrose too is sick and tired of the shadow of the shield hanging over him, it needs to be settled once and for all the Shield the authority it all needs to end and it needs to end with Dean Ambrose taking back his WWE title!
Tom Phillips stopped Roman Reigns as he walked to the ring and asked whether Reigns would have any trouble teaming with Dean Ambrose tonight. Reigns laughed at the suggestion and told Phillips that Little brother knows his role so they’d be no problem between him and Dean tonight…
Next week; Randy Orton will be on Raw!
Main Event; WWE Champion, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose V Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins went to a no contest
I originally thought they were going to waste Owens’ performance and victory last night by taking the fall tonight but that wasn’t the case in fact Owens walked out on Rollins toward the end of the match tired of Rollins trying to order him about.
Non finish came after Ambrose saved Reigns from a Pedigree by nailing Rollins with his top rope elbow. As gratitude Reigns rubbed Ambrose’s head like Ambrose was his little buddy and Ambrose took exception to it and dropped Reigns to huge cheers with Dirty Deeds. Ambrose went out and grabbed the WWE title but on entry back into the ring Rollins dropped Ambrose with his Pedigree! Rollins held up the WWE title as Raw went off as Mick Foley was shown watching backstage not happy that Rollins was standing tall while Stephanie was delighted. Foley looked across at Stephanie and told her they need to talk!

TNA Genesis opened with a video looking over tonight’s card focusing on mainly on the Main Event pitting former TNA champion, AJ Styles against CM Punk. Tonight’s match between AJ & Punk is over a year in the making and the root of their problems is the fact that both men want to be the TNA champion but by the end of tonight either AJ Styles or CM Punk will not be able to challenge for the TNA title throughout 2005!
Fireworks went off around the arena as Jeremy Borash’s voice welcomed everyone to the first Pay per View of 2005. Borash introduced his co-hosts for tonight ‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas and one half of the first ever TNA Tag Team champions, Jerry Lynn from the studio overlooking the arena. Borash, Douglas & Lynn ran through tonight’s card including ‘The Icon’ Sting taking on ‘The Monster’ Abyss who promises to end the career of Sting plus we will determine the top contenders to the TNA Tag Team titles when Zero Gravity (Matt Sydal & Paul London) take on New Millennium (Frankie Kazarian & Michael Shane) w. Traci Brooks. TNA Tag Team champions, GREATNESS (Austin Aries & Roderick Strong) will be in action when the face Bad Street Boys (Christian York & Joey Matthews) in a Non-title match. While current TNA champion, James Storm and Top contender, Jeff Hardy will be here to sign the contract for their TNA championship match which will take place at next month’s Pay per View. Finally in the Main Event both AJ Styles and CM Punk are willing to risk challenging for the TNA title in 2005 to get revenge over the other! Borash introduced announcers, Mike Tenay & Don Callis who were at ringside…
Tenay and Callis shown at ringside thanked Borash before going over the time limits for tonight’s card…
TIME LIMITS| - 30 Minutes| AJ Styles V CM Punk - 30 Minutes| Zero Gravity V New Millennium - 20 Minutes| Rest of card
MATCH 1| SONJAY DUTT & TJ PERKINS V BOX OFFICE (JOHNNY CURTIS & ROBBIE ECKOS) W. JOHNNY FAIRPLAY| Nice way to open the Pay per View, the crowd were into Dutt & Perkins’ fast paced, high flying offence while Johnny Fairplay did a great job of riling the crowd up against Box Office. Both teams are on the rise but in the end Dutt & Perkins picked up the victory after Perkins pinned Eckos following a frog splash. RESULT| SONJAY DUTT & TJ PERKINS BEAT BOX OFFICE VIA PIN FALL
Footage was shown of throughout the day as TNA wrestlers arrived at the arena including TNA champion, James Storm, Jeff Hardy and Chris Harris before both AJ Styles and CM Punk were shown separately preparing for tonight’s Main Event in their respective locker room’s.
TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson was standing backstage with BG James moments before BG’s regular tag team partner Ron Killings competed in the next match. BG told Hudson that it was time to set Ron Killings free, saying while Ron Killings has been selfless he has been selfish and has been an anchor round the neck of Killings but it was time to let Killings of the leash and it was time for Ron Killings just to show how nasty he can be….
MATCH 2| FOUR CORNERS MATCH| DUSTIN RHODES V ERIC YOUNG V KEN PHOENIX V RON KILLINGS| 4 men with something to prove competing in this four corners match. Dustin Rhodes beat Ken Phoenix on TNA IMPACT a few weeks back and is starting to show he belongs here in TNA. All four men competed in the ring at the same time. Alexis Laree was shown watching backstage during the match as Tenay reminded everyone the last time we saw Laree she was slapping the hell out of Ken Phoenix. All men were desperate to pick up the victory and it was Dustin Rhodes who managed to come away with the victory after Killings and Young had both hit Phoenix with their preferred moves but then they took one another of the top rope allowing Rhodes to hit Phoenix with his twisting supflex for the win. RESULT| DUSTIN RHODES BEAT ERIC YOUNG, KEN PHOENIX & RON KILLINGS
Dustin Rhodes for the first time in his TNA career picking up consecutive victories it’s now time for Dustin Rhodes to push on from here and while Ron Killings and Eric Young lost both show enough to suggest they have the potential to climb the rankings while Ken Phoenix on the other hand is like a fish out of water. Tenay and Callis continued to talk about Ken Phoenix as Phoenix was helped from the ring by the match official.
Back in the studio ahead of the 6 man tag team pitting which includes Jerry Lynn’s tag team partner, Amazing Red. Borash asked Lynn what was in store for Lynn and asked if Lynn has come to a decision regarding his future. Lynn seemed surprised by Borash’s question and told Borash that he has not be thinking about his future as far as Lynn is concerned he’s had a few weeks to rest up but Lynn will be back ASAP and is focusing on once again becoming the TNA Tag Team champions with Red…
Quick video played looking back over the last month or so where Chris Sabin successfully retained the TNA T.V title against Petey Williams and Alex Shelley. Shelley injuring Hernandez was also shown as was Brian Kendrick and Nigel McGuinness’ performances during the 2004 TNA Christmas Bonus Tournament. 6 of the most promising athletes in TNA meet, up next…
MATCH 3| 6 MAN TAG TEAM MATCH| TNA T.V CHAMPION, CHRIS SABIN, AMAZING RED & BRIAN KENDRICK V ALEX SHELLEY W. ANGELINA LOVE, NIGEL McGUINNESS & PETEY WILLIAMS W. COACH D’AMORE| Really good match, best match of the show so far. Sabin has proved over the last year that it will not be long before he is challenging the best in TNA, headlining Pay per Views and competing for the TNA championship on a regular basis. Tonight was a chance for the other 5 to step up also which they did but none more so than Nigel McGuinness who followed up his impressive performance against Jeff Hardy in the finals of the 2004 TNA Christmas Bonus Tournament finals by scoring the victory for his team tonight after he caught Kendrick with his Jawbreaker Lariat. RESULT| ALEX SHELLEY, NIGEL McGUINNESS & PETEY WILLIAMS BEAT AMAZING RED, BRIAN KENDRICK & CHRIS SABIN VIA PIN FALL
Nigel McGuinness the hooligan from London, England is really starting to get everyone’s attention in TNA wrestling and now for the right reasons. Sabin and Red checked on Kendrick after the bell as Alex Shelley, Angelina Love, Coach D’Amore and Petey Williams celebrated at ringside while McGuinness made his way backstage.
Jeremy Borash, Jerry Lynn and Shane Douglas in the studio revealed the 2005 Pay per View schedule… - 13.02.05| TNA Against All Odds - 13.03.05| TNA Unbreakable - 24.04.05| TNA LockDown (Main Event will be a Steel Cage match) - 15.05.05| TNA Gauntlet for the Gold - 19.06.05| TNA Slammiversary – (TNA Championship Series will begin following event) - 17.07.05| TNA Turning Point - 14.08.05| TNA Sacrifice - 11.09.05| TNA No Surrender - 23.10.05| TNA Bound for Glory - 13.11.05| TNA Victory Road - 11.12.05| TNA Final Resolution
Advert then played for next month’s Pay per View - TNA Against All Odds which will be headlined by TNA champion, James Storm defending the TNA title against Jeff Hardy, also signed former TNA champion, Low Ki will face Bobby Roode in the biggest test of Roode’s career so far!
SUNDAY 13TH FEBRUARY 2005| TNA AGAINST ALL ODDS!!
TNA Reporter, Shawn Daivari was standing in the middle of the ring which was set up for the contract signing between TNA champion, James Storm and top contender, Jeff Hardy including a podium each and a red mat. Daivari set the seen before introducing both men Storm makes the first defence of his TNA title against Jeff Hardy who has the highest win rate in TNA of 88.89% winning 8 of his 9 matches, recently beating CM Punk at TNA Bound for Glory and winning the 2004 TNA Christmas Bonus tournament.
Jeff Hardy came out first wearing shorts and a vest; the group were electric for Hardy giving him the usual rock star like reaction and Hardy went around ringside slapping hands with all fans before making his way into the ring before TNA champion the ‘Tennessee Cowboy’ James Storm made his way out to another huge reaction. Storm in jeans a t-shirt and his cowboy hat came out with the TNA title over his shoulder. Storm joined Hardy and Daivari in the ring and Storm and Hardy seemed to exchange words before Storm lifted the TNA title high over his head. After both men took their spot behind their podium, Daivari told both men they would sign the contract first then they can address their opponent. Hardy signed the contract first with a big smile on his face before handing the contract over to Storm who also signed the contract. Storm spoke first and approached Hardy and told Hardy he was looking forward to finally making his first defence of his TNA title but Storm warned Hardy that this would be his first defence and not his last because Storm has worked too hard for too long to lose the title so soon after winning it. Hardy picked a up a microphone and was laughing into the microphone before saying it did take Storm a long time to become champ and while still laughing Hardy asked Storm what took him so long. Hardy has become top contender in 9 matches and arrogantly said he didn’t expect it to be so easy. Hardy’s words joking or not clearly angered Storm and Storm without warning dropped Hardy with his Super kick!
Some fans cheered while others stood in shock as Storm leaned over Hardy’s fallen body and told Hardy to watch his mouth before grabbing his TNA title and exiting the ring. Tenay was shocked by Jeff Hardy’s arrogance while Don Callis like that side of Hardy but questioned the champion taking a cheap shot at the challenger ahead of their TNA title match next month at TNA Against All Odds – Tenay revealed that TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson was standing backstage with TNA champion, James Storm…
TNA champion, James Storm was backstage with TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson and Storm was not happy. Storm addressed Hardy who Storm was calling superstar saying everything Jeff has achieved in his career before and where Jeff has come from doesn’t mean anything. Storm said Hardy just disrespected him and everyone in TNA, Storm was not accepting that and that’s why Storm knocked Hardy out telling Hardy that he hopes he just gave Hardy a reality check and a wake up call before telling Hardy next month at TNA Against All Odds the TNA title was not going anywhere!
Back in the studio Borash, Douglas & Lynn discussed the contract signing and what went down between TNA champion, James Storm and Jeff Hardy. All 3 agreed that they had never seen that arrogant side of Jeff Hardy before either the success has really gone to Hardy’s head or Hardy has successfully got inside the head of James Storm, all three can not wait now for TNA Against All Odds next month!
SUNDAY 13TH FEBRUARY 2005| TNA AGAINST ALL ODDS| MAIN EVENT| TNA CHAMPIONSHIP| © JAMES STORM V JEFF HARDY!
Video played looking at Chris Harris losing the TNA title to James Storm at TNA Bound for Glory before Harris returned last month at TNA Victory Road where Harris vowed to return better than ever before. Footage was shown of Harris in training for his comeback match a special challenge match against former World champion, Diamond Dallas Page…
MATCH 4| SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH| DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE V CHRIS HARRIS| DDP the ‘People’s Champion’ came out through the crowd to a great ovation from the crowd in attendance. Harris was out second to a mixed reaction but Harris looked in great shape with the announcers saying that maybe Harris worked himself into the ground and needed the break to recharge. DDP and Harris had a strong Main Event level match with DDP showing that he has a lot let to offer but Harris also looked back to his best and Harris just had too much for DDP and scored the victory after catching DDP with a Spear before making DDP tap out to his Texas cloverleaf. RESULT| CHRIS HARRIS BEAT DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE VIA TAP OUT
Mike Tenay and Don Callis praised the performance of Chris Harris and congratulated Harris on his victory. Chris Harris is desperate to regain his TNA title as soon as possible and wants nothing more than to be accepted by everyone as the face of TNA wrestling. After tonight’s performance Harris is on the right track. After Harris exited the ring the fans gave DDP a standing ovation out of respect while a DDP chant went around the arena. Tenay asked whether this was the last we would see of Diamond Dallas Page here in TNA Total Non-Stop Action wrestling.
Quick footage was shown from TNA IMPACT two weeks ago where the first ever TNA champion, ‘Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels vowed to never wrestle for TNA wrestling again until he was given a shot at the TNA championship! Borash, Douglas & Lynn addressed the situation where Lynn said Daniels was being ridiculous while Douglas could see Daniels’ point and believes that Daniels is the best wrestler in the world and deserves a shot at the TNA championship.
MATCH 5| NON-TITLE MATCH| TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS| GREATNESS (AUSTIN ARIES & RODERICK STRONG) V BAD STREET BOYS (CHRISTIAN YORK & JOEY MATTHEWS)| Bad Street Boys believe they are owed a shot at the TNA Tag Team titles but are not willing to earn a shot wanting to do things the “easy way” which led to BSB taking a cheap shot at GREATNESS last month at TNA Victory Road which led to GREATNESS making this challenge just wanting to hurt Matthews & York but GREATNESS may have played into the hands of Bad Street Boys because if Matthews & York are victorious like they were over GREATNESS in a recent 8 Man Tag Team match they will be entitled to a future shot at the TNA Tag Team titles regardless of what happens in the Top Contenders match later tonight…
Fans loved this match which really turned into Austin Aries & Roderick Strong taking apart Bad Street Boys. Aries vowed that GREATNESS would kick Matthews & York’s ass and that is actually what happened. GREATNESS took control of the match and never looked back, taking BSB apart before Aries dropped York on his head with a Brain buster while Strong made Matthews tap out to his Strong Hold. GREATNESS with this performance sent a clear message to the winners of tonight’s Top Contenders match that GREATNESS is ready for all comers. RESULT| GREATNESS (AUSTIN ARIES & RODERICK STRONG) BEAT BAD STREET BOYS (CHRISTIAN YORK & JOEY MATTHEWS) VIA TAP OUT
Afterwards while GREATNESS celebrated with their TNA Tag Team titles both New Millennium (Frankie Kazarian, Michael Shane & Traci Brooks) and Zero Gravity (Matt Sydal & Paul London) were shown watching ahead of their Top Contenders match later tonight.
TNA Reporter, Shawn Daivari was shown in the car park as an ambulance pulled out of the arena. Daivari revealed that Diamond Dallas Page was leaving in that ambulance because after DDP made his way backstage after just coming up short against former TNA champion, Chris Harris was attacked by Jeff Jarrett with Jarrett breaking one of his trademark acoustic guitars over the head of DDP. Daivari noted that Jarrett has also left the arena but hopefully on TNA IMPACT this week Daivari would be able to update everyone with more information.
Quick video aired looking over the history between ‘The Icon’ Sting and ‘The Monster’ Abyss. Abyss has vowed to end the career of Sting the video also included Abyss’ loss to Low Ki last month at TNA Victory Road in their brutal Last Man Standing match and Jim Mitchell vowing that Abyss would never disappoint him again…
MATCH 6| STING V ABYSS W. JIM MITCHELL| ‘The Icon’ Sting and ‘The Monster’ Abyss had a rivalry which spanned the most of 2004 with Jim Mitchell claiming that 2004 would be the last of Sting’s career, Sting made it through 2004 and twice almost became the TNA champion but Mitchell wanting a response from Abyss after his loss to Low Ki last month challenged Sting claiming Abyss has unfinished business. Mitchell has also warned Abyss not to fail him ever again.
Sting, who has to be in line for a shot at the TNA title, may have faced the toughest challenge since joining TNA in June 2003. Abyss dominated Sting for the majority of the match. Sting hurt his ribs missing a Stinger splash at ringside and Abyss targeted throughout the match and thought he’d won the match after catching Sting with his Black Hole slam only for Sting to kick out. Abyss enraged and potentially worried about failing Mitchell again grabbed Sting’s baseball bat as Mitchell distracted the match official but Sting kicked Abyss between the legs before hitting Abyss in the back of the leg with the bat before dropping Abyss with his Scorpion Death drop which was enough to give Sting the victory. RESULT| STING BEAT ABYSS VIA PIN FALL
Sting beat Abyss at his own game here tonight and now has to be in line for a shot at the TNA title following next month’s TNA title match. Sting made his intentions clear by signalling for the TNA title during his post match celebration.
Jim Mitchell as soon as the match official slapped the mat for the third time walked out on Abyss. Mitchell the handler of Abyss just turned his back and walked out without looking back at Abyss and once Abyss struggled back to his feet immediately started looking for Mitchell before letting out a huge roar knowing that he had disappointed Jim Mitchell once again.
AJ Styles and CM Punk both ready for tonight’s Main Event were shown in their locker room again ahead of tonight’s Main Event knowing that the loser of their match tonight can not challenge for the TNA title in 2005!
New Millennium (Frankie Kazarian & Michael Shane) w. Traci Brooks was with TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson moments before they met Zero Gravity in a Top Contenders match. Traci Brooks said she knows all wrestling fans would love to see another chapter in the great rivalry between Zero Gravity and GREATNESS this time for the TNA Tag Team titles but it’s not going to happen because despite how good both teams are they are not New Millennium, they are not the perfect blend of charisma and style, they have not won their last 6 matches and very soon neither will be the TNA Tag Team champions.
MATCH 7| TOP CONTENDERS MATCH| TNA TAG TEAM TITLES| ZERO GRAVITY (MATT SYDAL & PAUL LONDON) V NEW MILLENNIUM (FRANKIE KAZARIAN & MICHAEL SHANE) W. TRACI BROOKS| Mike Tenay during the match announced that the winner of this match would challenge GREATNESS for the TNA Tag Team titles at TNA Unbreakable on the 13.03.05 in two months time.
Very good match with New Millennium proving without question that they are a top tier tag team and just as strong as Zero Gravity. Kazarian & Shane both very good singles wrestlers have come together under Traci Brooks and have just clicked and are without doubt future TNA Tag Team champions. Both teams put everything on the line and both came close to picking up the victory. In the end Zero Gravity managed to end New Millennium’s 6 match winning streak and earned a shot at the TNA Tag Team titles after Sydal pinned Shane following a Shooting Star press. New Millennium has nothing to be ashamed of they were just beaten by the better team on the night and now we would see another chapter in the great rivalry between GREATNESS and Zero Gravity but this time for the first time the TNA Tag Team titles will be on the line. RESULT| ZERO GRAVITY (MATT SYDAL & PAUL LONDON) BEAT NEW MILLENNIUM (FRANKIE KAZARIAN & MICHAEL SHANE) VIA PIN FALL TO BECOME THE TOP CONTENDERS TO THE TNA TAG TEAM TITLES
Back in the studio with Jeremy Borash, Jerry Lynn and Shane Douglas they congratulated Zero Gravity on earning the right to challenge for the TNA Tag Team titles before turning their attention to tonight’s Main Event between CM Punk and former TNA champion, AJ Styles. The 3 spoke about the consequences of losing this match and made it clear that there is no loophole whoever loses tonight can not challenge for the TNA title in 2005 plus they will not be allowed to enter the Gauntlet for the Gold match in May or be entered in the TNA Championship Series. Borash introduced comments from both individuals before a video package played looking back over the history between AJ Styles and CM Punk…
CM Punk spoke to the cameras earlier today while he got ready for tonight’s Main Event. Punk said tonight’s Main Event has been a long time coming but after tonight finally he will have closure after tonight Punk should have cleared his path to the TNA title and he only hopes TNA management does not hold any grudges after Punk takes the TNA title away from their golden boy for good. Punk knows that it is his mission in life to go down in history as the greatest professional wrestler off all time and this is CM Punk’s world and everyone else is just living in it…
TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson was with former TNA champion, AJ Styles moments before AJ would head out to face CM Punk. Hudson asked AJ how he was feeling heading into arguably the most important match of AJ’s TNA career. AJ reminded Hudson that he has been trying to regain his TNA title for over a year now and AJ appreciates that AJ may sound like a broken record but tonight AJ finally gets to get his revenge by beating CM Punk in the middle of the ring which would mean CM Punk would be right at the back of the line for a shot at the TNA title and maybe take Punk out of the title picture permanently and after what Punk did to him AJ can not think of a better way of getting revenge…
Video played looking back over the history between AJ Styles and CM Punk. TNA70| Make or Break – AJ Styles successfully retained his TNA title overcoming CM Punk after a war between the two men. One week later Chris Harris became the top contender to the TNA title after winning a Gauntlet for the Gold match which CM Punk was entered. Punk believed due to his performance against AJ he was entitled to a rematch against AJ but AJ and TNA management refused so Punk got revenge by costing AJ the TNA title to Chris Harris. AJ would get what he thought would be his revenge in a Steel Cage match at TNA100 but Punk again would cost AJ the TNA title by beating AJ on the last night of the TNA Championship Series costing AJ a spot in the finals. Now both men believe they deserve a shot at the TNA title and both still believe they need revenge over the over and they can’t think of a better way to get revenge over the other by completely taking away the TNA title from the other!
MATCH 8| MAIN EVENT| AJ STYLES V CM PUNK| “Loser can not challenge for the TNA Title in 2005*| Both men looked extremely focused before the bell knowing that they had it all to lose tonight because while the stipulation states the loser can not challenge for the TNA title in 2005, the loser will not get an automatic title shot at the start of 2006 so in reality the loser of this match can not challenge for the TNA title for at least one year.
Great match a very early match of the year contender that both men were desperate not to lose. There were moments in the match which played off their previous matches. Punk slammed AJ hard off the ring apron to the floor the same way Punk cost AJ the TNA title but AJ kicked out of the follow up pin attempt. They again clashed heads like they did during their TNA Championship Series match but this time much to the delight of the crowd AJ landed on top of Punk in a pinning predicament but Punk kicked out at the last second. AJ hit his Styles Clash and Punk spiked AJ with the Even flow DDT but both kicked out. Punk even caught AJ with his own Styles Clash but again kicked out. Both men were refusing to be beaten.
It was going to take something incredible to put the other away and AJ thought he had finally done it after seemingly knocking Punk out with his Pele kick before hitting his Spiral tap but again Punk refused to be beaten by getting his foot on the bottom rope at the last second. It seemed like the match was destined to go to a 30 minute time limit draw until Punk hooked AJ looking for a double under hook of some sorts but AJ quickly countered and locked Punk in a guillotine choke and locked his legs around Punk’s waist. AJ dragged Punk to the mat and pulled away at Punk’s head screaming at Punk to tap out. Punk was trapped with nowhere to go but Punk refused to tap and eventually Punk passed out and the match official had no choice but to call for the bell and award the victory to AJ Styles. RESULT| AJ STYLES BEAT CM PUNK VIA REFEREE STOPPAGE
CM Punk was out cold and lay on top of an exhausted AJ Styles, who had released the choke hold. Fans were on their feet after a great match between two of the best wrestlers in the world today. Mike Tenay said it’s clear by the visual of both men laying on the mat just how much the TNA title means to both men. Tenay and Callis praised both men including Punk saying Punk showed great heart and great pride by refusing to tap out but unfortunately for CM Punk who genuinely believes that his mission in life is to go down in history as the greatest wrestler of all time can not challenge for the TNA title in 2005.
TNA officials checked on CM Punk who was now sitting up against the bottom ropes coming to terms with the fact that he had lost to AJ Styles as AJ was slowly walking around the ring after having his hand raised in victory by the match official.
Mike Tenay said TNA is the home of some of the best wrestlers in the world who are all desperate to become the TNA champion and while Christopher Daniels, Sting, Chris Harris, Low Ki and others believe they are entitled to a shot at the TNA title, Tenay questioned how anyone can deserve a TNA title shot more than the ‘Phenomenal One’ AJ Styles. TNA Genesis went off the air as AJ Styles standing on the stage was looking back over the arena motioning for the TNA championship.

| WRESTLING OBSERVER WWE BATTLEGROUND LIVE RESULTS July 24th, 2016 by Dave Meltzer |
WWE Battleground – 24th July 2016 Our coverage begins at 8 PM EST.
**********
Breezango defeated The Usos via pin fall
Kick off match
Surprising result as Breezango have been split up in the draft. Fun match. Breeze used the cheeky nando’s kick on one of the Usos. Breeze surprised Jimmy with a roll up after getting his knees up on a top rope splash. There was a post-match angle where Breeze & Fandango wanted to perform their “last dance” but were laid out by the Usos with super kicks.
Kick off show ended with Seth Rollins leaving Stephanie McMahon’s office with Rollins telling McMahon that tonight he wants to win the WWE World championship by himself to prove he is and always was the stronger member of the Shield. Mick Foley walked into the picture and overheard and liked Rollins attitude while Stephanie didn’t look to thrilled.
Michael Cole attendance an attendance of 15,109. Saxton and JBL are also on commentary.
Sasha Banks & Bayley defeated Charlotte & Dana Brooke via tap out
Bayley was announced as Sasha Banks partner to a huge ovation!
JBL indicated that Bayley getting this opportunity is a one-time thing for now. Banks made Charlotte tap to the Banks Statement leading to the expected Banks/Charlotte title match at Summer Slam in August. Bayley stopped Brooke from saving Charlotte by hitting her with her Belly to Belly. Crowd loved both Banks and Bayley tonight.
U.S Championship: Rusev (w/Lana) defeated Zack Ryder via submission
Ryder wore USA themed gear. Ryder had a little success early but this was designed to help rebuild Rusev. Pretty much an extended squash with Ryder showing good heart but in the end Rusev made Ryder tap to his Accolade. Rusev kept it on for a little while post-match. No Mojo tonight. Got the reaction they wanted.
The Wyatt Family (Bray, Rowan & Strowman) beat New Day (Big E, Kofi & Xavier) via pin fall
Wyatt Family will be on Raw and New Day will be on Smack Down following tonight which New Day brought up in their pre-match promo. Xavier promised to conquer his fear if only for one night.
A couple of highlights saw Big E hit a overhead belly to belly on Rowan and Kingston hit a flip dive on Strowman. Story was that Xavier was struggling to find the confidence to confront Wyatt but he eventually did and the crowd were behind Xavier after Xavier saved Kofi from Sister Abigail. Big E almost landed on his head from his spear spot which left Wyatt and Woods alone together before Wyatt caught Xavier woods with his Sister Abigail for the victory in about 9 minutes.
Becky Lynch defeated Natalya via tap out
Becky gave her goggles to a grown ass man in the front row. Becky won in about 9 minutes with her Disarmer. Good match. Result was changed last minute as Natalya was expected to go over but she was a pro as always.
John Cena, Big Cass & Enzo defeated AJ Styles, Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows via pin fall
Crowd is super into Enzo (and Cass). Enzo had advice for the Club, including: never make eye contact with anyone when you’re eating a banana. Cass was better than usual calling AJ a soccer Mom, and advised him to pick up his boys and drop them off at Raw before heading to SmackDown and called them soft. The Club have new shirts.
Cena had AJ pinned with the AA but Anderson broke it up and gave Cena a spinebuster on the announce table which didn’t break. Enzo then gave Anderson a jumping DDT on the mats outside of the ring.
AJ hit Cena with the Styles Clash but Cass broke it up and killed AJ with a big boot. Anderson & Gallows followed with their Magic Killer on Cass. With the ring clear Cena gave AJ the AA off the top rope for the win. Fun match that went about 15 minutes.
Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (w/Maryse) defeated Darren Young (w/Bob Backlund) via pin fall
Maryse slapped Backlund and he took a hilarious bump. Maryse then fell down and blamed it on Backlund. So Miz attacked Backlund outside of the ring only for Young to make the save before rolling Miz back into the ring after checking on Backlund, Young made his way back into the ring only for Miz to kick the ropes in-between Young’s legs and hit his Skull Crushing finale for the win. Not much to the match and Young is not clicking in his role. A drop down in quality from Miz’s recent matches including his match with Cesaro on SmackDown.
Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn via pin fall
Zayn tried a springboard moonsault to the outside but slipped and landed on his shoulder on the apron. He started selling it immediately and Owens started working it over. The announcers referenced Zayn’s past shoulder injury. Zayn was able to hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall.
Owens followed with a super kick for two followed by a cross face, Zayn got to the ropes. Zayn hit a vertical sulex/brain buster on the apron which was nuts. “This is Awesome” chants. Owens hit a cannon ball and a frog splash for a near fall.
Zayn blocked a power bomb attempt and hit a tornado DDT and a half nelson suplex for a close near fall. Owens followed up with a Pop-Up Power bomb but Zayn just barely got his foot on the rope.
A frustrated Owens started slapping Zayn in the face which just fired Zayn up. Zayn hit two more exploders, followed by a Helluva kick. Owens fell on to Zayn’s chest they had a HBK/Flair moment with Zayn telling Owens it was over before putting Owens back in the corner Zayn wanted a second Helluva kick but Owens caught Zayn with a second power bomb before finishing Zayn with his cradle pile driver!
Great match that went about 18 minutes, crowd loved it! Star making performance from both men. Announcers played up the pile driver big and Zayn did a stretcher job while Zayn was being carried out an emotionless Owens just waved from the ring as his former best friend was carried out.
Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel with Randy Orton
Orton got a pretty good reaction coming out but nothing spectacular. Orton enjoyed spending time with his family but missed being in the ring. Orton joked about sharing a ring with Jericho. Jericho called himself the “GOAT” and said he’s elevating Orton.
Orton threatened to drop Jericho who said he may hit Orton with his Codebreaker out of nowhere. Orton was not drafted and has been told that he will be free to appear on both Raw and SmackDown until after SummerSlam! Jericho advised Orton to go to the opposite brand to Brock Lesnar after Lesnar destroys Orton at SummerSlam. Orton noted that would mean he would be on Raw with Chris Jericho. Jericho threatened to injure Orton like he did another free agent Neville.
A video on Brock Lesnar was shown and Jericho laughed at Orton telling Orton he didn’t stand a chance against the ‘Beast’ but Orton dropped Jericho with an RKO out of nowhere to a pop before sitting next to Jericho’s fallen body and saying that it would only take one RKO to take Lesnar to Viperville, “no enhancement needed” nice pop from the crowd for that line.
WWE Championship: Roman Reigns defeated Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins via pin fall to become the NEW WWE World champion
Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon watched from ringside.
Reigns has a full beard. He got booed. Ambrose came out last. Match was starting at 10:55 PM EST
There was a big pop when Rollins and Ambrose worked together to take out Reigns. Ambrose gave Reigns a suicide dive and Rollins followed up with a flip dive, also on Reigns. Rollins and Ambrose then gave Reigns an assisted power bomb through the Spanish announce table. Crowd popped, but then Rollins grabbed a chair and cracked Ambrose on the back, reminiscent of when he turned on the Shield and Tuesday on SmackDown. He gave Reigns a shot as well. Rollins tried a buckle bomb on Ambrose but he countered with a hurricanrana. Rollins came back with a super plex and a falcon arrow for a near fall. Reigns came back in and gave both men power bombs.
Rollins gave Reigns a Pedigree but he kicked out. Reigns took a buckle bomb but came back immediately with a superman punch and Spear. He went for the cover but Ambrose grabbed him and hit Dirty Deeds on Reigns and covered but Stephanie had the match official. Ambrose had Reigns beat.
There was a table set up in the corner and Reigns took advantage of the distraction by putting Ambrose through the table with a Spear but Rollins hit Reigns with a Pedigree but Rollins’ knee buckled and he rolled out of the ring in agony. Stephanie who had been arguing with Foley due to Stephanie getting involved went to check on Rollins as Reigns and Ambrose fought back to their feet, Ambrose went for his jaw breaker lariat as Reigns went for his Spear and Reigns beat Ambrose to the punch and connected to win the title. Interesting decision to put the title back on Reigns! Great match, doesn’t feel like the end. Crowd hated the outcome, trainers helped Rollins from ringside. Many stories here. Stephanie wasn’t happy with the outcome while Foley was upset with Stephanie. Ambrose sat in the corner clutching his ribs as Reigns held up his WWE title as the show went off the air.

Renee Young was hosting the show in the studio alongside the guest panel of Corey Graves, Booker T and Lita. They kicked off the show by recapping the Draft and the main talking points including RAW taking the WWE World title by drafting all three former members of the Shield (Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins) while SMACKDOWN got AJ Styles, John Cena and Brock Lesnar! Graves said just due to the fact that RAW took the WWE World title meant RAW won the opening round of the draft but SMACKDOWN came back strong in round 2 and had RAW on the ropes are drafting the WWE United States and WWE Tag Team titles! Lita touched on Stephanie McMahon being angry after this round of the draft. Young and all four members of the panel agreed that both brands drafted well before a graphic was shown showing both brands current rosters…

Tom Phillips was standing by with SMACKDOWN Commissioner, Shane McMahon and General Manager, Daniel Bryan to get their thoughts on tonight’s draft. Bryan repeated that he was really disappointed not to get the WWE World title on SMACKDOWN, Shane McMahon took the blame for that saying he was convinced that Stephanie would not draft Dean Ambrose or Roman Reigns. Overall though they are extremely happy with their roster and they have a game plan going into the NXT Draft which will help complete their vision for the SMACKDOWN brand but they would give nothing away at this time.
Breezango (Tyler Breeze & Fandango) stormed into the studio where Renee Young and the panel were discussing the draft. Neither man was happy about being split up as a team or being the last pick for both brands! Breeze said Fandango was his lobster and they were destined to go down in history as the most gorgeous WWE Tag Team champions off all time but that has been taken away from them tonight! Outrageous, scandalous Fandango shouted before dancing out of the picture. Renee Young noted that Breezango would team for the last time this Sunday when they take on the Uso’s on the WWE Battleground kick off show!
NXT roster was shown taking their seats at the WWE Performance centre in anticipation for tonight’s WWE Draft to continue. Young reminded viewers that despite the male NXT roster being drafted tonight it does not mean they will be called up immediately. Young sent it to Tom Phillips who was now standing by with RAW General Manager, Mick Foley…
Tom Phillips asked Mick Foley how he feels tonight’s Draft went and how he found it working alongside Stephanie McMahon tonight. Foley looking at the big picture is delighted with the RAW roster taking into account that RAW will be the exclusive home for both the WWE Women’s and Cruiserweight Divisions. On Stephanie, Foley admitted that it is going to take time for them to gel and it will be a learning experience for both of them and there may very well be teething problems but Foley is willing to work through them because Foley is excited about leading RAW into the future! Foley said speaking about the future it was time he went and drafted his NXT stars!
THIS SUNDAY LIVE ON THE WWE NETWORK| WWE BATTLEGROUND!
Mick Foley and Daniel Bryan joined Renee Young and the panel to make their NXT Draft picks. Bryan mentioned that Shane McMahon trusts Daniel to make these decisions while Bryan joked that he heard a rumour that Stephanie had given Foley a list of names. Bryan wanted to add the greatest tag teams in the business today to SMACKDOWN’s already strong division plus he knows Johnny Gargano and Oney Lorcan very well. Foley believes by drafting names like Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe and Austin Aries – RAW won the Draft tonight because they are four of the best wrestlers in the world today without question all future WWE champions!
Renee Young closed the show before a video package aired recapping tonight’s WWE Draft and a graphic advertising WWE Battleground live on the WWE Network this Sunday!

SMACKDOWN LIVE! Tuesday 19th July 2016!
SMACKDOWN Live opened with footage of the SMACKDOWN Live management team Commissioner, Shane McMahon & General Manager, Daniel Bryan making their way into the arena clearly in deep discussion about tonight’s draft and were heard as they walking past the camera saying they need to stick to their plan.
Shortly after RAW’s management team Commissioner, Stephanie McMahon & General Manager, Mick Foley were also shown arriving at the arena but unlike Shane and Bryan they were not entering together, Stephanie was ahead of Foley on the phone and surrounded by her staff as Foley followed Steph into the arena trying to keep up…
SMACKDOWN Live Open!
Following the fireworks display and shots of the crowd Mauro Ranallo’s voice welcomed everyone to the first SMACKDOWN live and immediately hyped tonight’s Draft which would officially kick off the start of the WWE’s New Era! The announcers were shown at ringside and was joined by Byron Saxton, Jerry Lawler his regular broadcast partners but also representing RAW – Michael Cole.
WWE Chairman & Owner, Vince McMahon the Father of both Shane & Stephanie made his way out on to the stage to huge ovation. Either side of Vince was a podium for RAW & SMACKDOWN Live where the Draft would take place. McMahon welcomed everyone to the dawning of the new era here in the WWE. Momentarily the draft would kick off but beforehand Vince would quickly go over the rules and his vision. Rules appeared on screen (see post above) noting that RAW as the 3 hour show would have exclusive footage to both the WWE Women’s Division and WWE Cruiserweight Division. McMahon also pointed out that the only times we would see RAW against SMACKDOWN live would be in the Royal Rumble match at WWE Survivor Series in a traditional elimination match and a match at WWE WrestleMania! Both management teams would get free reign over their shows, they can add as many titles or events as they like, they can hire whoever they wish but Vince warned he would be keeping a close eye on both brands before announcing that after tonight’s opening contest the 2016 WWE Draft would begin!
Renee Young sitting in the WWE Draft Centre was shown on camera and announced that following SMACKDOWN live tonight, live and exclusive on the WWE Network the entire male NXT Roster would be drafted to either RAW or SMACKDOWN Live! Young made it clear that this doesn’t mean call ups were going to happen immediately but both management teams want a clear picture on who will be a part of their brand today and in the future.
SUNDAY 24TH JULY 2016| WWE BATTLEGROUND| 6 MAN| JOHN CENA, ENZO & BIG CASS V THE CLUB (AJ STYLES, KARL ANDERSON & LUKE GALLOWS)!
MATCH 1| THE CLUB (AJ STYLES, KARL ANDERSON & LUKE GALLOWS) BEAT APOLLO CREWS & LUCHA DRAGONS (KALISTO & SIN CARA) VIA PIN FALL| Ahead of facing John Cena, Enzo & Big Cass this Sunday at WWE Battleground on the WWE Network, The Club wanted to prove that you can’t just throw 3 men together and hope to beat them. The Club have dominated Japan and now they want to dominate the WWE! Entertaining match, wasn’t a walk over for The Club like they may have thought with Crews & Lucha Dragons giving AJ, Anderson & Gallows a couple of scared but in the end AJ managed to drop Sin Cara with his Styles Clash for the victory.
Post-match Anderson & Gallows dropped Kalisto with their Magic Killer while AJ grabbed a microphone from ringside. AJ stood on the announce table and said he hopes John Cena and his little buddies were watching! AJ Styles is the greatest professional wrestler in the world today and The Club are the most dominant force in the world today. John Cena can rise above the hate but John Cena cannot rise above The Club and they will prove that this Sunday at WWE Battleground!
RAW and SMACKDOWN Live management teams (Stephanie McMahon, Mick Foley and Shane McMahon, Daniel Bryan) were shown making their way from their respective offices, the WWE Draft kicks off next!
Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley were behind their podium while Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan were behind their podium after the two teams shared some words, Stephanie McMahon made the first draft pick on behalf of RAW…
RAW’s 1st Draft Pick… SETH ROLLINS! SMACK DOWN’S 1st Draft Pick… BROCK LESNAR!
RAW’s 2nd Draft Pick… WWE World champion, DEAN AMBROSE! SMACK DOWN’s 2nd Draft Pick… JOHN CENA! *Daniel Bryan was clearly annoyed that RAW had drafted the WWE World champion. It also appeared that while Shane and Bryan were working together, Stephanie was not really taking Foley’s opinion into consideration.
RAW’s 3rd Draft Pick… ROMAN REIGNS! SMACK DOWN’s 2nd Draft Pick… AJ STYLES! Following each pick a video on each individual was shown. Announce team reacted at ringside to the 1st round of Draft picks saying both brands have got off to a strong start but agreed that RAW must be delighted that they are the exclusive home for the WWE World title! As one of their 1st 3 draft picks (Ambrose, Reigns or Rollins) will leave WWE Battleground this Sunday as the WWE World champion. Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were shown backstage, Bryan was not happy that they had missed out on the WWE World title, Shane was 100% sure that Stephanie would not have drafted either Ambrose or Reigns! McMahon said their initial plan backfired but they should still be happy with the quality they had picked up…
Elsewhere backstage Seth Rollins caught up with Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley just as Foley was about to address something with his boss. Rollins was delighted that Stephanie drafted him, Stephanie told Rollins that he would be the foundation RAW would be built upon before asking Rollins to join her in her office. Foley attempted to follow only to have the door closed in his face before Stephanie opened the door and apologised before ordering Foley to go and get her and Seth a drink.

SMACK DOWN’s 6th Draft Pick… SAMI ZAYN! RAW’s 6th Draft Pick… KEVIN OWENS! *SMACKDOWN had RAW on the ropes in that round and RAW’s picks were more reacting to SMACKDOWN’s previous picks and/or trying to hurt SMACKDOWN by taking their next predicted pick. Following the selections, Stephanie stormed off…
Renee Young again in the WWE Draft Centre again hyped the NXT Draft taking place on the WWE Network following SMACKDOWN Live tonight and also revealed that following the show tonight there would be changes regarding announcers and other personnel which would be revealed throughout the night and week on WWE.Com.

Wyatt scored the victory following his Sister Abigail.
Stephanie McMahon was shown in a hall way backstage being joined by Mick Foley. Stephanie was not happy with how the last round played out, Foley tried to convince Stephanie that RAW still made some strong draft picks but Stephanie wasn’t happy and blamed Foley for what happened, saying while she was dealing with the face of RAW and next WWE World champion, Seth Rollins – Foley should have had his eyes on the ball!

RAW’s 9th Draft Pick… CHRIS JERICHO! Both brands could be happy with their selections in this round but the big news coming out of round 3 was that following WWE Battleground this Sunday – The Club will be split up!

Cesaro & Miz will be on different brands from Monday so tonight was Cesaro’s last chance at revenge. Darren Young was shown watching backstage with Bob Backlund. Cesaro and Miz had a good match which the crowd were into, the match was given a fair amount of time which saw both men score a number of near falls before Cesaro managed to put the Miz away following his Neutralizer. Miz will have to rebound quickly and his confidence is going to be low heading into his title defence this Sunday. Big win for Cesaro who will be hoping for more opportunities to impress on SMACKDOWN live!
STILL TO COME TONIGHT| ENZO & BIG CASS V THE VAUDEVILLIANS – ZACK RYDER V SHEAMUS!
WWE Reporter, Tom Phillips was backstage with WWE World champion, Dean Ambrose & Sami Zayn ahead of tonight’s Main Event. Phillips asked Ambrose & Zayn for this thoughts on tonight’s Main Event. Ambrose spoke first saying tonight two huge rivalries collide when he and Sami Zayn take on Seth Rollins & Kevin Owens. Ambrose said he and Zayn have a lot in common and have something to prove this Sunday against a former friend/brother. Ambrose despite being the WWE World champion still needs to prove that he was the alpha male in the Shield while Zayn is going show Kevin Owens that he was always the better of the two but tonight they are going to have some fun and get ahead of themselves when they kick Owens & Rollins ass! Ambrose walked off and Zayn joked that he’s going to miss Ambrose….

MATCH 5| ENZO & BIG CASS BEAT THE VAUDEVILLIANS (AIDEN ENGLISH & SIMON GOTCH) VIA PIN FALL| These two teams have built up quite a rivalry over the years in both NXT and the WWE, it was earlier in the year that the Vaudevillians seriously injured Enzo. Tonight Enzo & Big Cass were out to rebound from their loss on RAW last night which saw a miscommunication with John Cena. Enzo had the crowd on their feet pre-match with his mic work and the his fans had reason to celebrate as Enzo & Cass looked good on their way to victory over the former NXT Tag Team champions. Post-match John Cena joined Enzo & Big Cass in their celebrations and held a huddle in the middle of the ring to motivate all 3 men ahead of their huge challenge against The Club this Sunday at WWE Battleground live on the WWE Network!
Ringside, Mauro Ranallo, Michael Cole, Byron Saxton & Jerry Lawler reminded viewers that WWE Owner, Vince McMahon announced at the start of the show that the WWE Women’s Division would be exclusive to RAW going forward and tonight the women had been given the night off but this Sunday live on the WWE Network – WWE Battleground will see two big WWE Women’s Division matches when Becky Lynch looks for revenge against Natalya while Sasha Banks and a mystery partner will face WWE Women’s champion, Charlotte & her protégé Dana Brooke! MATCH 6| ZACK RYDER BEAT SHEAMUS VIA PIN FALL| Sheamus the former WWE World champion was not happy being drafted so late into proceedings and took his frustration out on Zack Ryder who is looking to shock the world once again this Sunday at WWE Battleground when he challenges Rusev for the WWE United States championship. Sheamus almost lost control and was almost disqualified by the match officials for not listening to orders and the frustration ended up costing Sheamus as Ryder surprised the ‘Celtic Warrior’ with a roll up for the victory.
Post-match Zack Ryder rolled straight out of the ring but was immediately followed from behind on the ramp by Rusev! Ryder got back up only to be dropped by a jumping kick from the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ before Rusev locked his opponent this Sunday in his Accolade and it was only after officials came out to pull Rusev from Ryder that Rusev released the hold! Rusev with Lana by his side held up the WWE U.S title in celebration as the officials checked on the fallen Zack Ryder.
Seth Rollins was shown backstage talking at Kevin Owens ahead of their Main Event tonight telling Owens that following WWE Battleground he will once again be the WWE World champion while Kevin Owens can be his number 2. Rollins thought this was a great idea but Owens walked off in disgust after repeating the words number two.
Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley (RAW) and Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan (SMACKDOWN) were back out for the last round of the WWE Draft being shown on SMACKDOWN live tonight! For this last round both brands would get 4 picks! Nobody in the WWE wants to be their respective brands last pick…

SMACKDOWN’s Last Draft Pick… TYLER BREEZE! RAW’s Last Draft Pick… FANDANGO!
Announcers (Ranallo, Cole, Lawler & Saxton) reacted to the draft at ringside highlighting RAW drafting all 3 former members of the Shield (Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins) guaranteeing that the WWE World title will end up on RAW while SMACKDOWN live got hold of John Cena, AJ Styles and the ‘Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar! Following SMACKDOWN Live tonight on the WWE Network the WWE Draft continues with the NXT male roster being drafted plus we would hear from some of the WWE Superstars effected by tonight’s draft.
Video played going over the history of Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. The 3 men debuted together at the 2012 WWE Survivor Series and for almost 2 years they dominated the WWE taking out everyone who crossed their path from The Rock, The Undertaker, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Wyatt Family and Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton & Batista) until Seth Rollins turned his back on his brothers and joined the Authority! MATCH 7| MAIN EVENT| DEAN AMBROSE & SAMI ZAYN V SETH ROLLINS & KEVIN OWENS| Big Main Event heading into WWE Battleground this Sunday. All four men are no strangers to one another. Zayn and Owens former best friends will meet for potentially the last time ever this Sunday with both men hoping to come out of their ‘Final Battle’ victorious! Stephanie McMahon was shown watching backstage cheering on Seth Rollins during the match. Out of the 4 men in tonight’s Main Event only Sami Zayn would be heading to SMACKDOWN live. Really strong match and it seemed like Zayn was going to lead his team to victory after catching Owens with his Hell’uva kick only to turn into a Pedigree from Rollins but before Rollins could cover Zayn, Ambrose tackled Rollins out of the ring leaving Owens and Zayn alone in the ring as Ambrose & Rollins brawled at ringside. Owens arrogantly leaned down to pick Zayn up only for Zayn to surprise Owens with a small package for the victory! DEAN AMBROSE & SAMI ZAYN BEAT SETH ROLLINS & KEVIN OWENS VIA PIN FALL
Kevin Owens was livid and floored Sami Zayn straight after the bell before planting his former best friend with his Pop-Up power bomb, Ambrose was quickly back in the ring and the ‘Lunatic Fringe’ spiked Owens with his Dirty Deeds before Seth Rollins hit the WWE World champion in the back with a steel chair just like Rollins did the night he turned his back on his brothers in the Shield! Rollins grabbed hold of Ambrose by the face and told him he would reclaim his WWE title before nailing Ambrose with a Pedigree in the middle of the ring. SMACKDOWN live went off the air as Seth Rollins stood tall in the middle of the ring with the WWE World title in his hand as RAW Commissioner, Stephanie McMahon came out and applauded her number 1 draft picks actions!

- IN RING INTERVIEW| TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson was waiting in the ring as Christopher Daniels made his way to the ring. Mike Tenay reminded everyone watching that last week Jeff Hardy was named the top contender to the TNA title. Daniels joined Hudson in the middle of the ring. Hudson made it clear to Hudson back at TNA Victory Road that he was not happy and a couple of weeks ago Daniels no-showed a scheduled match. Hudson asked Daniels to explain his actions and elaborate on his feelings. Daniels took the microphone before screaming at Hudson to get out of the ring which a petrified Hudson quickly did. Daniels spoke in a quieter calmer voice to explain anger towards TNA management. Daniels reminded everyone that he is the first ever TNA champion and that he beat the entire roster at the time to become champion. Daniels held the title for 8 months and over the last 2 and half years has beaten everyone AJ Styles, Low Ki, Sting, Chris Harris, CM Punk and the current TNA champion, James Storm more than once including the most embarrassing loss of Storm’s career. Daniels even went through the entire round robin stage of the TNA Championship Series undefeated including winning the opening Battle Royal and was without question the rightful top contender to the TNA title it wasn’t even up for debate but now after losing at TNA Bound for Glory where Daniels’ was not beat and losing at TNA Victory Road where Daniels was not beat and losing to Eric Young even though he didn’t show up for the match Daniels individual record is worse than ever despite the fact Daniels has not been beat. Daniels believes TNA management is out to get him and out to sabotage him so they can give their new toy Jeff Hardy a title shot. Daniels claimed that he has been carrying TNA on his back since he showed up but is now putting TNA down because Daniels is going on strike! Daniels said he will not wrestle another match for TNA Total Non-Stop Action wrestling until he is given the shot he rightfully deserves at the TNA championship! Daniels dropped the microphone before exiting the ring leaving everyone in shock, Christopher Daniels has walked out on TNA and vows to only return once he gets a shot at the TNA championship.

Harris said he was recording this on New Year’s Eve as everyone else was out partying and drinking he was focused on being better than ever and once again becoming the TNA champion. Harris noted this video would air on the 7th January and recalled the 7th January last year which was the happiest night of Harris life after he beat AJ Styles to become the TNA champion. Harris said one year on and he’s in a cold gym on New Year’s Eve having to prove himself all over again but he will….
- MATCH 2| BRIAN KENDRICK BEAT CHASE STEVENS| You can’t keep Brian Kendrick out of the ring he’s racking up the matches and while Kendrick didn’t win the 2004 TNA Christmas Bonus Tournament he did himself no harm and tonight Kendrick impressed again against one half of the Naturals before pinning Stevens with his trusty Slice Bread No.2
- POST MATCH INTERVIEW| Brian Kendrick spoke with TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson at ringside following the match and told Hudson that he would wrestle every single night if he had the choice. - HIGHLIGHTS| 07.01.04| TNA77|2004| MAIN EVENT| TNA CHAMPIONSHIP| CHRIS HARRIS BEAT © AJ STYLES TO BECOME THE NEW TNA CHAMPION!
- RECORDED INTERVIEW|AJ Styles and CM Punk both separately watched the ending of the TNA title match from TNA77|2004 where CM Punk interfered and cost AJ Styles the TNA championship to Chris Harris. Following the footage both men gave their views on the incident. AJ struggled to watch the footage without getting angry, AJ said he dedicated his life to prove he was the best wrestler in the world and CM Punk took it all away from him. AJ can take losing when he loses to the better man but AJ cannot accept having everything he had every worked for stole from him like that. AJ said it all came about because Punk demanded another shot at the TNA title despite AJ beating Punk previously and Punk also failed to earn the right by not winning the 2003 Gauntlet for the Gold match. AJ said this all started because Punk could take being defeated like a man and now it’s going to cost Punk because at TNA Genesis, Punk will fail again and AJ will return the favour keeping CM Punk from the TNA title for the entire year!
CM Punk said AJ Styles loves to play the victim here but the truth is CM Punk was the victim. TNA management was protecting their poster boy from losing the TNA title and they knew following the first match between AJ and Punk that if Punk got another shot Punk would become the TNA champion and TNA management hated the thought of that so they blocked Punk so Punk decided that if he couldn’t have the TNA title, AJ Styles wasn’t having the TNA title either. Punk brought up how over the last year Punk and AJ have tried to hurt one another with AJ even beating Punk in a Steel Cage match but when it mattered most Punk once again beat AJ and cost AJ a shot at finally regaining the TNA title. Punk vowed that at TNA Genesis there would be a happy ending CM Punk’s happy ending when he takes the TNA title away from AJ Styles forever before going on to finally becoming the TNA champion himself! Punk finished by reminding AJ Styles this is Punk’s world!

Brooks questioned why New Millennium had to face Zero Gravity in a top contenders match at TNA Genesis, reminding everyone that Kazarian & Shane beat London & Sydal at TNA Victory Road and have won their last 6 matches but because they have too at TNA Genesis, New Millennium will prove once again they are the perfect blend of style, charisma and talent when they officially become the top contenders to the TNA Tag Team titles…
- SUNDAY 16TH JANUARY 2005| TOP CONTENDERS MATCH| ZERO GRAVITY (MATT SYDAL & PAUL LONDON) V NEW MILLENNIUM (FRANKIE KAZARIAN & MICHAEL SHANE) W. TRACI BROOKS!
- SUNDAY 16TH JANAURY 2005| NON-TITLE MATCH| TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS| GREATNESS (AUSTIN ARIES & RODERICK STRONG) V BAD STREET BOYS (CHRISTIAN YORK & JOEY MATTHEWS)!
- MATCH 3| MAIN EVENT| 8 MAN TAG TEAM MATCH| BAD STREET BOYS (CHRISTIAN YORK & JOEY MATTHEWS) & NEW MILLENNIUM (FRANKIE KAZARIAN & MICHAEL SHANE) W. TRACI BROOKS BEAT TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, GREATNESS (AUSTIN ARIES & RODERICK STRONG) & ZERO GRAVITY (MATT SYDAL & PAUL LONDON) VIA PIN FALL| Great match pitting four of the best tag teams against one another and 8 of the brightest stars in the business. GREATNESS and Zero Gravity worked together fine despite their rich history which has produced some of the greatest matches in TNA history. New Millennium are growing into a top team while Bad Street Boys despite wanting to take the easy way to the titles are one of the best teams in the world when they are on their game. Match official had trouble keeping hold of the match at times with bodies flying everywhere and in the end that led to the finish of the match with Kazarian & Shane outside of the ring Aries wanted a suicide dive but ran into a knee from Joey Matthews before Christian York quickly rolled Aries up for the surprise 3 count.
Bad Street Boys beat the TNA Tag Team champions! GREATNESS gave Bad Street Boys the non-title match at TNA Genesis so they can get revenge for Bad Street Boys attacking them at TNA Victory Road but GREATNESS may have played right into Matthews & York hands because if they beat GREATNESS at TNA Genesis they will be entitled to a TNA Tag Team title shot. Zero Gravity entered the ring to check on GREATNESS but as TNA IMPACT went off the air an argument seemed to be breaking out in the ring between GREATNESS & Zero Gravity over the outcome of the match.

Borash introduced Shane Douglas & Shawn Daivari before they hyped the Main Event where the TNA T.V title will be defended plus we would see the return to action of both ‘The Monster’ Abyss and former TNA champion, Low Ki since their Last Man Standing match at TNA Victory Road and TNA management has told both Low Ki and Abyss to stay away from another here tonight. - TNA.COM| Jeff Hardy spoke to TNA.Com backstage after his victory and gave credit to everyman in the match for pushing him especially Nigel McGuinness, Hardy said it was one of the reasons he wanted to come to TNA to test himself against the likes of Nigel McGuinness. Hardy turned his attention to the TNA title and asked what else he had to do to get the shot before telling all the other contenders that the queue to the TNA title starts behind him.
- PRE-MATCH INTERVIEW| Low Ki was shown watching Jeff Hardy’s comments while TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson waited to speak with the former TNA champion. Hudson asked Low Ki how he felt about watching Hardy’s comments and also after being called out by Bobby Roode last week. Low Ki said due to his injury he lost a lot of time and has some catching up to do but he showed by getting his revenge on Abyss at TNA Victory Road that he is up for the challenge and Low Ki admitted he is a man of few words but let it be known that he doesn’t care who he has to go through be it Jeff Hardy, Bobby Roode, AJ Styles – Low Ki is coming for the TNA title.
- MATCH 2| LOW KI BEAT MARK BRISCOE VIA PIN FALL| Mark Briscoe representing Heroes for Villains like Lance Archer a couple of weeks ago knew full well that Chris Hero was watching while recovering from injuries suffered during his match against Raven which Hero won at TNA Victory Road but that didn’t stop Low Ki running right through the young Briscoe. Low Ki hurt Briscoe with kicks before dropping Mark on his head with his Ki-Krusher. Don Callis who is a big supporter of Bobby Roode questioned Roode’s decision to target Low Ki who may be what Roode claims to be the most dangerous man in TNA. Low Ki later tonight could still be named the top contender to the TNA title.
- SUNDAY 16TH JANUARY 2005| TNA GENESIS| SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH| CHRIS HARRIS V DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE!
- VIDEO| Filmed late Christmas Eve showing Chris Harris still preparing for his return to action against Diamond Dallas Page showing Harris in shorts and a t-shirt running in the snow. Footage was then shown from Christmas Day of Chris Harris back at the gym. Harris spoke to the camera while drinking a protein shake. Harris vowed to return at TNA Genesis better than ever!
- MATCH 3| MAIN EVENT| TNA T.V CHAMPIONSHIP| © CHRIS SABIN V ALEX SHELLEY W. ANGELINA LOVE| Shelley has been given this match after winning 3 of his first four matches including a 20 man Battle Royal back at TNA Bound for Glory. Sabin who is the only TNA T.V champion in history to successfully defend the title was looking for his second successful defence tonight. Really good match, a fitting way to end the ring action for the year for TNA. Both men came close and everyone in the arena thought Shelley won the title following a frog splash only for Sabin to kick out at the last second. Sabin hit his Hesitation Drop kick and a tornado DDT but Shelley was proving tough to keep down but in the end Sabin managed to become the first man to pin Shelley when Shelley escaped Sabin’s Cradle shock by crawling down Sabin’s back but Sabin sat down on top of Shelley and grabbed hold of both of Shelley’s legs keeping Shelley down for the 3 count. RESULT| CHRIS SABIN BEAT ALEX SHELLEY VIA PIN FALL TO RETAIN THE TNA T.V CHAMPIONSHIP
Alex Shelley was furious afterwards and had to be restrained from attacking the match official it seemed by Angelina Love. Announcers agreed they would not mind seeing Sabin face Shelley again saying both men proved tonight without question they are the future of TNA wrestling but tonight the victory went to Chris Sabin.

- IN RING ANNOUNCEMENT| TNA champion, James Storm came out to a great ovation from the fans in attendance. Storm came out with the TNA title over his shoulder as Callis and Tenay spoke about Storm being moments away from finding out who Storm will defend his TNA title against first. Once Storm was in the ring he paced around the ring waiting to be told when TNA Reporter, Shawn Daivari walked out on to the stage before stepping to the side. Daivari said TNA management have thought long and hard about this and have discussed many names as there are many who deserve an opportunity at the TNA title but ultimately TNA management have decided on who will challenge James Storm for the TNA championship at the February Pay per View with the contract signing taking place at the next Pay per View TNA Genesis and it will be… JEFF HARDY!
Hardy came out to another great ovation potentially even louder than Storm’s. Storm gave Hardy a little smile as Hardy entered the ring as the announcers got excited about the upcoming match between TNA champion, James Storm and Jeff Hardy. Hardy who won the 2004 TNA Christmas Bonus Tournament last week is number 1 in the overall rankings with a win rate of 88.89% from 9 matches and now in February Jeff Hardy will get what he came to TNA for when he challenges James Storm for the TNA championship. Mike Tenay wished everyone a Happy New Year as Storm and Hardy circled one another in the ring as TNA IMPACT went off the air.

- TIME LIMITS| All TNA IMPACT matches have a 20 minute time limit. - IN RING INTERVIEW| To the surprise of everyone in the arena the music of the TNA champion, ‘Tennessee Cowboy’ James Storm hit and Storm came out with his TNA title and while Storm was wearing jeans and Storm t-shirt as usual instead of a cowboy hat Storm was wearing a Santa hat. Storm entered the ring and took a microphone. Storm said he wanted to pop by to put all everything that’s going on to one side for a moment and to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and to thank everyone for supporting him and TNA Total Non-Stop Action wrestling. Storm said shortly he was going to gather up all the students at the TNA Wrestling Academy and put some hairs on their chest because tonight they were going drinking with the cowboy but before that Storm told everyone that next week on TNA IMPACT he has been told by TNA management that it will be announced who will get the first shot at the TNA championship! Storm repeated what he said following TNA Victory Road that it doesn’t matter who’s first because eventually Storm is going through everyone.
- MATCH 1| SONJAY DUTT & TJ PERKINS BEAT THE NATURALS (ANDY DOUGLAS & CHASE STEVENS) VIA PIN FALL| Great showing from Dutt & Perkins in their first TNA IMPACT match, the fans got right behind the team too who despite being young have travelled the world and picked up many styles and in the end they picked up the victory after Perkins dropped Douglas chest first across his knees and while Douglas lay there Dutt came off the top rope with a leg drop to the back of the head. Sonjay Dutt & TJ Perkins has the potential to be a great addition to the best tag team division in the world.
- HIGHLIGHTS| TNA VICTORY ROAD| TNA T.V CHAMPIONSHIP| © CHRIS SABIN BEAT PETEY WILLIAMS W. COACH D’AMORE VIA PIN FALL!
- PRE MATCH INTERVIEW| Coach D’Amore told TNA Reporter, Scott Hudson that Petey Williams should be the TNA T.V champion right now but Chris Sabin got lucky at TNA Victory Road because Williams didn’t manage to hit his Canadian Destroyer. Hudson asked whether Williams relies too much on the Canadian Destroyer. D’Amore laughed at Hudson’s stupidity before telling him the Canadian Destroyer is the most lethal move in wrestling and it will lead Petey Williams the greatest wrestler to ever come out of Canada too many titles before dismissing Hudson…
- MATCH 2| PETEY WILLIAMS BEAT JASON CROSS VIA PIN FALL| Cross a TNA Wrestling Academy student getting an opportunity tonight thanks to James Storm. Cross looked ok opposite Williams but Williams was in no mood to play after failing to become the TNA T.V champion and sent a message to Chris Sabin that he was coming for the title with an impressive performance before putting Cross down with his Canadian Destroyer! Officials checked on Cross afterwards as Don Callis questioned James Storm putting Cross in a match against Petey Williams. As requested by D’Amore a number of replays aired of Petey Williams’ glorious but extremely dangerous Canadian Destroyer.
- TNA NEWS| TNA Reporter, Shawn Daivari hyped next week’s TNA IMPACT on Fox Sports which will air on New Year’s Eve and TNA management want to go out with a bang and give the fans an extra treat. Next week for the first time since TNA Victory Road, former TNA champion, Low Ki will be in action but also in the Main Event we would see the TNA T.V title on the line when Chris Sabin defends against Alex Shelley! Daivari noted that he has not been able to contact Christopher Daniels after Daniels no showed TNA IMPACT last week but has heard from sources that the issue between Daniels and TNA management is a lot bigger than many people realise. Daivari also quickly wanted to touch on the importance of win rates here in TNA. TNA keep record of all matches and all wrestlers’ individual records broken down over TNA years (June-June) and the plan is around June the top 10 who have competed in 10 matches or more will be entered into the TNA Championship Series and fight for the right to challenge for the TNA title at TNA Bound for Glory. If you are not in the TNA Championship Series it limits your time competing for a couple of months and while it takes money out of a wrestlers pocket it also leaves them behind in the men entered in the Series the following year when it comes to matches and win rate. However the TNA Championship Series has a knock on effect to the men entered also as the best TNA has to offer face one another and exchange victories with one another, it damages their current win rates. Daivari said the point he is trying to make is simple the most important thing in TNA whether it be the singles or tag team division is winning, you don’t win you do not get opportunities.
- RECORDED INTERVIEW| TNA T.V champion, Chris Sabin looked back over his year and said he was proud of the year he had, he won the first ever Next Step tournament beating Chris Hero in their Ladder match finals. Sabin challenged for the TNA title and Sabin was overall happy with his performance in the TNA Championship Series but he is most proud of becoming the TNA T.V champion and next week he will end 2004 with a bang when he beats the fruitcake Alex Shelley.
- NEXT WEEK| TNA IMPACT| MAIN EVENT| TNA T.V CHAMPIONSHIP| © CHRIS SABIN V ALEX SHELLEY W. ANGELINA LOVE!
- IN RING INTERVIEW| Former TNA T.V champion, Bobby Roode was in the ring with TNA Reporter, Shawn Daivari when we returned to the ring. Roode wearing all black suite and shirt asked for this time tonight. Daivari asked Roode why he requested this time tonight. Roode said he wanted to send a message to everyone in TNA wrestling. Roode reminded everyone that he is the most dangerous and calculated man in the business today, a former TNA T.V champion and at TNA Victory Road – Roode proved that he belonged alongside the best and now Roode wants to make sure everyone accepts that. Roode warned everyone that they are currently watching the ‘Rise of Roode’ and all Bobby Roode wants for Christmas is to test himself against the best and Roode questioned who was better than former TNA champion and the man who beat ‘The Monster’ Abyss in a Last Man Standing match – Low Ki! Roode told Low Ki he was calling him out and warned Low Ki that he would be Roode’s first victim but assured Low Ki he wouldn’t be the only one. Roode finished by saying it was his time and he was destined for greatness!
- NEXT WEEK| CHRIS SABIN DEFENDS HIS TNA T.V CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST THE DANGEROUS ALEX SHELLEY IN THE MAIN EVENT PLUS LOW KI RFESH OF BEING CALLED OUT BY BOBBY ROODE RETURNS TO ACTION. ALSO AHEAD OF HIS MATCH AGAINST STING AT TNA GENESIS ‘THE MONSTER’ ABYSS ALSO RETURNS TO ACTION AND THAT IS NOT ALSO BECAUSE ALSO NEXT WEEK TNA MANAGEMENT WILL REVEAL WHO WILL GET THE FIRST SHOT AT JAMES STORM’ TNA CHAMPIONSHIP!
- MATCH 3| 2004 TNA CHRISTMAS BONUS TOURNAMENT FINALS| JEFF HARDY BEAT BRIAN KENDRICK, ERIC YOUNG & NIGEL McGUINNESS| Very good match, Young was the first eliminated after he fell to Kendrick’s Slice Bread no.2 but Kendrick was the next eliminated after he turned into a jawbreaker lariat from McGuinness. It came down to Hardy against McGuinness and the two had a really strong match. McGuinness showing he can compete against the best, McGuinness really impressed tonight and came close to beating Hardy on a couple of occasions but in the end Hardy dropped McGuinness with his Twist of Fate before pinning him following his Swanton Bomb. Jeff Hardy continues to show why he is in contention to be the first challenger for James Storm’s TNA title. Fans were on their feet afterwards as Hardy celebrated, the match official tried to hand Hardy his prize money but Hardy didn’t accept the award and rolled out of the ring to continue his celebration as snow from the ceiling and Mike Tenay wished everyone a Happy Christmas as TNA IMPACT went off the air.

Hello, everyone. Whether you’ve been on WFigs for a substantial amount of time, or whether you’ve been here for just a few months, I welcome you to the board. Thanks to Chris Hammers for the suggestion and quick approval for my role. I hope to be fair and make this place a little more fun to be around and new members jump onboard. I’ll be the first to say, that over the last several years, I just post my WWF ’95 shows and mind my own business. Seemingly around me, the board has become less active and less feedback driven. I personally feel the mandatory reply for reply system never truly worked, nor would there be any real critical feedback given to anyone. It would always been “this was a good show”. Lets face it, we aren’t/weren’t the best bookers or writers. I feel like very few people gave honest feedback to help people become better writers (most notably Dan, for myself.) If you have ideas or desires for the board, send me a PM. There needs to be a better commitment to diaries. I do not want to become a strict leader of the board, but there needs to be proper planning for diaries. I don't know about others, but for my two most successful diaries (WCW 2000, and WWF ’93-95), when I first started it I literally planned out six months of pay per view cards and had ideas how to get there. I’ve written things I didn’t like, and I’ve just booked myself out of the situation. Often times, people write themselves into a corner and just give up. So, I’m thinking of challenging people. If you start a diary and give up after three posts, you need approval to begin another one. Myself, Dan, Kev, HEELRyan, Snickel, Jord and Dragon (just off the top of my head) are examples of people who have created long-running diaries. I find it incredibly frustrating when the same person has 5 diaries on the front page. I know it’s less active as it once was, but regardless. Find your niche and stick with it. That’s how you get to a HOF diary. Speaking of Hall of Fame… I will NOT be eliminating any diaries from that group. They were voted in at their respected times and they shall remain in. However, for as long as I am a mod… I will have some guidelines to it. I think that a diary should have 6 months to a year worth of ORIGINAL booking. Often times, I see people keep the same story lines for the first month or two and don't venture out. So, I’m kind of leaning towards a year long of in diary time before they are considered for the HOF. Another idea, and I’m probably going to do this for mine. I think it would be a good idea if the writers of a diary give an up to date “this is what’s going on in my diary” so that people who first arrive or haven't read a diary can get a feel for what’s going on. I’d make a thread for that, I think. And update accordingly. Another idea, and I’ve mentioned this before, was to interview writers on their previous diaries and just do something similar to Kayfabe Commentaries. I know that I have my own reasons for booking plans and maybe ideas that I never managed to do, such as with my WCW 2000. I think that would be interesting. Also, I was never aware of the issues regarding past members. I know there were plenty of great writers who no longer come to the board for whatever reason. I will say this… I have no problem with giving second chances. If you are someone who was “blacklisted” or whatever from this board, get in touch with me and I’ll have no problem welcoming them back to the board. Lastly, I’m thinking of going through and reading the diaries that I have neglected and start from the beginning and give replies. I remember doing this for Mike Bockwinkel a long time ago. First, it was fun to do that and I think he appreciated it. So, I might try to make time to do that for everyone. That’s all I can think of currently. If you have any questions, reply in this thread… if you have any suggestions for the board, send me a PM and we can discuss that. I’ll likely make a voting for the HOF thread in the coming days. Considering a lack of activity, I’m not sure how many I’d put in at one time. Talk to you guys soon.
I've already done this on another board, with Ryan, AJ, Dan, Kev etc. I could bring it across here share what's been done so far but also offer it out to the likes of yourself and Dragon

Tonight’s final 2 Qualifying matches… o Jeff Hardy V Lance Archer o Eric Young V Christopher Daniels - TIME LIMITS| All TNA IMPACT matches have a 20 minute time limit,
- HIGHLIGHTS| TNA VICTORY ROAD| HERNANDEZ BEAT ALEX SHELLEY W. ANGELINA LOVE VIA DISQUALIFICATION!
- MATCH 1| ALEX SHELLEY W. ANGELINA LOVE BEAT AMAZING RED VIA TAP OUT| Alex Shelley showed a more ruthless side at TNA Victory Road when he purposely injured ‘Mexican Muscle’ Hernandez. Shelley targeted the ankle and was successful in injuring Hernandez who will be out 2-4 months after Shelley hit Hernandez in the ankle with his walking cane. Amazing Red back in singles action after more disappointment teaming with Jerry Lynn at TNA Victory Road. TNA management have given Jerry Lynn a month to rest and think over his options. Red and Shelley put on a very good match, both men are among the brightest stars in TNA and both would love a shot at Chris Sabin’s TNA T.V title but tonight it was Shelley who picked up the victory after he managed to make Red tap to his Border City stretch.
- RINGSIDE| Announcers, Mike Tenay and Don Callis discussed the TNA title situation and who they believed were among the top contenders to challenge champion, James Storm. Tenay and Callis agreed that Sting still deserves a fair shot and if Sting beats Abyss at TNA Genesis he cannot be denied a TNA title match while Don Callis supports the arguments of Christopher Daniels and CM Punk two men who have recently beaten James Storm, Tenay believes the likes of Low Ki, AJ Styles and potentially even Jeff Hardy deserve a shot over the two of them due to their recent high profile victories, while Chris Harris should only be under consideration as the former champion too.
- IN RING INTERVIEW| TNA Reporter, Shawn Daivari introduced AJ Styles to a loud ovation from the fans in the arena. AJ the 3rd ever TNA champion joined Daivari in the ring. Daivari asked the ‘Phenomenal One’ why he believes he should get the first shot at James Storm’s TNA title. AJ told Daivari that everyone knows the story by now, almost a year ago AJ was screwed out of the TNA title by CM Punk and over the last year AJ has been fighting to get his TNA title back. AJ reminded everyone that he may have just missed out on winning the TNA Championship Series but he led the series from the first week to the last and during the series AJ also beat James Storm. Since then AJ has also beat Jeff Hardy, CM Punk in a steel cage match and won the Triple Threat match at TNA Bound for Glory against Christopher Daniels and Low Ki. AJ said he could go on but asked it would be harder for people to tell him why he does not deserve the first shot at the TNA title…
CM Punk’s music hit in the arena before Punk walked out on stage, we were due to here from the ‘Second City Saint’ later tonight. Punk who had a microphone in one hand and his other hand raised above his head said he could tell AJ why AJ does not deserve a shot let alone the first shot at the TNA title. Punk said first off it’s simply because Punk is better than AJ Styles! Punk told AJ he has been trying for almost a full year to regain the TNA title but AJ keeps failing time and time again. AJ angry interrupted telling Punk he would know a lot about failing himself, after twice failing to become the TNA champion. Punk said AJ may have beaten him in their Steel Cage match and Punk heard how AJ admitted that he would love to keep Punk away from the TNA title like Punk keeps doing to AJ, since their Cage match – Punk beat AJ and cost AJ the TNA Championship Series! AJ may have beaten Storm but Punk beat AJ in their last match and was the last man to beat James Storm before Storm became champion! Punk told AJ that no one wants to see AJ champion again apart from TNA management but Punk will not allow it. Punk told AJ that AJ and everyone else was living in his world where Punk will not be censored and where AJ Styles will never be the TNA champion again if Punk has his way!
AJ had heard enough and told Punk he would give Punk the opportunity to keep AJ away from the title if Punk would return the favour. AJ said the easiest way to get a shot at the TNA title is to eliminate the competition so AJ is challenging Punk to a match at TNA Genesis but with a stipulation whoever loses cannot challenge for the TNA title in 2005, no loopholes no nothing, can compete in any top contender matches or anything. Punk didn’t see that one coming and didn’t like the sound of it biting his lip but Punk had been called out by AJ, Punk told AJ he should know by now that one of his favourite past times is keeping AJ Styles from the TNA title so Punk accepts AJ’s challenge! TNA Genesis – AJ Styles V CM Punk and the loser cannot challenge for the TNA title in 2005!
