Hey everyone,
Not that often - I acutally get to play with my CS figs - but I did recently and came up with an awesome 1992-93 esque' edition of WCW Saturday Night - hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!
Your Commentators for the night: Jim Ross and Tony Schivanoe
Match 1: For WCW Tag Titles
The Nasty Boys vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes & Gordy)
A very cocky and arrogant Knobbs & Saggs made their way to the ring having only been in the WCW for 3 weeks and already earning a tag title shot.
The freebirds arrived to the ring with the tag gold - dancin and struttin to the squared circle. While the freebirds were taking off their entrance gear - the nasties attacked from behind and gained the upper hand.
Gordy was knocked out the ring by Saggs as Knobbs went to work on Hayes - trying to wear him down right away with elbows and backing him into the corner and ramming his shoulder repeatedly into hayes's abdomen.
Felt like Hayes had the wind knocked out of him and Knobbs showed how "nasty" he could really get by biting Hayes on the forehead - referee nick patrick immediately pulled knobbs off for that awful move.
Quick tags followed where the Nasties kept on using foul moves and tactics of distracting the referee while the other from the side of the apron would choke out hayes - while on the other end, Gordy would try and save his partner - only to have the ref push him out again.
Finally, a glimmer of hope came when Saggs missed a flying headbutt off the top. Hayes in desperation delivered a DDT and crawled over to his corner.
Finally, making a tag to gordy - all hell broke loose as "bam bam" began to flatten out saggs and knobbs with a series of clotheslines. Saggs however delivered a low blow and then held onto gordy for knobbs to deliver a boot to the face. Gordy ducked - causing saggs to fall over the top rope from the impact of the boot.
Outside, Hayes then kept saggs at bay while gordy then sidestepped the confused knobbs, kicked him in the gut and delivered his destructive powerbomb for the 1-2-3. The freebirds survived to live another day as Tag champions - while the nastyz screamed at them from the ring: "this aint over you jerks!"
Match 2: Rick Martel vs. Lord Steven Regal
A debuting Rick Martel was brilliant in his first outing in the WCW with a fine display of speed and technical wrestling. Regal was as always brutal and calculating as he took an early upper hand by working on the ankle joint of Martel.
For a while with various submission manouvers, Regal tried to make Martel tap - where at one point he nearly did when Regal strapped on the STF - but Rick made it to the ropes just in time. Martel then quickly ducked a clothesline and gave Regal a flying forearm. Both men were out for the count - using the ropes for leverage, Martel stood up and tried to shake off his ankle pain.
Regal then tried to cheat his victory by delivering a chop block and holding the ropes while he pinned. The referee noticed this and cancelled the count - infuriating Regal who lost focus and began arguing with Ref. Randy Anderson.
Martel seized the moment and Regal walked into a tremendous dropkick - Rick finished it off by flipping regal over and putting him in the infamous boston crab right in the centre of the ring. With nowhere to go, Regal eventually tapped giving the victory to Martel.
Match 3: 6 man Tag - The Dangerous Alliance (Arn Anderson, Bobby Eaton & The Barbarian w/ Paul E.) vs. Nikita Koloff, Paul Orndorff & Rick Steiner
A tremendous encounter in store with Paul E's new powerhouse the Barbarian determined to send a message to his opponents tonight. Rick Steiner was also looking for revenge after an assault 2 weeks ago by the Dangerous Alliance left his brother Scott with 2 broken ribs.
Nikita Koloff already lost a TV title match the previous week to Arn Anderson when the Barbarian intervened and gave him a stiff boot to the face. Paul Orndorff made the post match save that week when he rescued Koloff from a further assault.
The match begun with Steiner and Eaton starting out with a collar-elbow tie up. Steiner backed eaton who began complaining to the ref he was having his hair pulled by Rick. While the Ref admonished Rick, Eaton attempted a cheap shot which steiner blocked and sent him over the ropes with a clothesline. Eaton came back in only to be dropkicked and then slammed in the middle of the ring.
When Rick went to the top, Anderson quickly ran over and wobbled the top rope - causing Steiner to lose balance and crash to the ring mat. Eaton quickly gained the upper hand thereafter - wearing Steiner down with a headlock. Anderson was then tagged in while the fans booed at Paul E. who screamed instructions from ringside.
The enforcer then worked over Steiner with powerful slams and illegal punches - even teasing Orndorff and Koloff by spitting in their direction. After Anderson missed a double ax handle off the top - Steiner in desperation hit a suplex and tried crawling to his corner.
He tagged in Orndorff who quickly gave Anderson a barrage of clotheslines and even knocked Eaton off the apron much to Paul E's dismay. However Anderson as resourceful as he is, gave Orndorff a drop toe hold onto the turnbuckle and slapped on the sleeper. Orndorff powered out with a belly-belly suplex and tagged in Koloff. Meanwhile, Anderson in fear slapped Barbarian on the chest and told him to get in.
Both men squared up with neither falling to each other's punches. The barbarian finally whipped Nikita into the ropes hoping to connect with his big boot - however koloff came in full steam and floored the beast with a stiff flying shoulderblock. Koloff went wild and began suplexing the barbarian in various ways. Paul E. quickly sent Eaton and Anderson into the ring fearing defeat. A massive melee unfolded with all 6 men brawling in and out of the ring. Paul E. then quickly distracted the ref, slipping the barbarian; Anderson's TV title. who plastered koloff in the head with it, kncoking him out cold.
With the cover, the barbarian earned the dangerous alliance a huge YET undeserving win. Orndorff and Steiner then came back in to check over their fallen teammate as Paul E. and his men celebrated on the ramp.
Match 4: No DQ match "The All American" Ron Simmons vs. Cactus Jack
Bad blood between these 2 men began when Cactus attacked Simmons last month in the parking lot causing him to suffer a concussion. Simmons, had to subsequently forfeit his World title that night which ensued in a battle royal for the vacant strap which Sting won.
Simmons vowed vengeance and demanded from Bill Watts that he is given this match - regardless of the consequences.
Cactus came to the ring shotuing 'bang bang!' with a baseball bat covered in barbed wire claiming in an interview with Jim Ross earlier in the night that "Pain is his remedy".
Simmons came out in street gear running to the ring to get a piece of cactus. Cactus immediately swung with his baseball bat but Simmons returned off the ropes with a huge spear like takedown - throwing wild punches at Cactus. The bat rolled out the ring - remember folks this is NO HOLDS BARRED - the ref is only there to count the pinfall.
Quickly, the action spilled out to the outside where Simmons repeatedly rammed cactus into the steel barricades. A stiff clothesline followed, causing cactus to fall into the crowd and land on a row of chairs.
Simmons then scooped him up and slammed him onto the steel chairs - an attempted piledriver was reversed by cactus causing simmons to fall onto the hard concrete floor. Cactus then folded up a chair and whacked simmons hard in the back, followed by a double arm DDT onto the floor.
Simmons kicked out the cover and a frustrated cactus then climbed up a wall fixture to deliver an elbow on the prone simmons. Ron rolled out the way causing cactus to hit the floor hard.
Simmons then bombarded cactus with a series of stiff chair shots to the back and then finally a huge crack to the skull - knocking cactus back over the barricade to ringside.
Simmons tried one more but cactus just collapsed causing him to hit the ringpost which hurt his hands. Cactus then followed up with a bulldog on the outside and then rolled him back into the ring - throwing a chair in and looking around for the barbwire bat, he couldn't find it so he ended up picking up another chair.
Simmons somehow got hold of the in-ring chair in the meantime and cactus approached slowly with the other chair - both men ended up cracking each other in the face with full force; at the same time and they fell flat to the floor.
THe ref counted up to 10 but clearly neither man was in shape to carry on - the match was stopped and ended as a no contest. Medical teams then rushed out to attend to both men after the brutal encounter.
THE MAIN EVENT: Big Van Vader & US Champion Ravishing Rick Rude w/ Paul E. vs. World Heavyweight Champion Sting & Barry Windham
A huge showdown with Vader vowing to beat Sting for the world title after the historic battle royal for the vacant belt. A long war of words had ensued between both men for a while now.
Windham had beaten Lord Regal earlier in the month to become no.1 contender for the US title and Rude came out straight away with an ambush from behind to clearly send a message to the challenger.
Vader and Windham started the match off - with Vader winning most of the tie ups due to his huge masses of power. Vader kept goading sting to get in the ring. Windham then turned vader around and began his onslaught of stiff right hands to knock Vader down - however Vader caught an incoming windham and gave him a huge powerslam - it seemed Windham was temporarily hurt and Vader worked over on the prone texan. Rude then came in with a blind tag and did his outrageous hip grinding routine over windham before delivering a stiff kick to his gut to keep him down. Rude then worked over Windham's gut with a reverse backbreaker - driving his knee right into the torso.
Sting seemed worried for his partner and Rude followed up with shoulders into windham's abdomen in the corner.
Due to too much showboating - Rude gave Windham a chance to recover momentarliy and Rick walked into a thunderous clothesline. Both men were down and Sting was itching to get tagged in - Rude tagged first and Vader tried to hold windham's leg back - but Barry was able to tag in the Stinger who jumped onto Vader and took him down with a barrage of right hands.
Sting then tried the 'impossible' by slamming Vader but it was too much and he collpased under the weight.
Vader then gave Sting a hard slam of his own and went to the top to perform a vadersault. Sting moved out the way and Vader connected with nothing but the canvas.
Paul E. once again tried to distract the ref as Rude tried to hold Stinger in the corner so Vader could splash him! Stinger moved at the last minute and pushed Rick into the corner instead. Vader squashed Rude! Sting then delivered a double stinger splash on both Vader and Rude, while Vader had his back turned checking if Rick was even concsious! Windham had gained enough energy to stand up and he pulled Paul E. off the apron and punched him square in the face!
Windham came in and clotheslined Vader over the top - causing both of them to fall out the ring with the huge momentum. The dazed Rude then walked into a scorpion death drop and Sting covered for the win. A huge moment as Sting and Windham stood proudly in the ring side by side with Vader walking up the aisle enraged. Rude followeed closely behind with a sluggish Paul E. still suffering the effects of Windham's right hand.
Good night folks and we'll see you next time!
