I'm watching the Back in Black DVD, and geez these fans are relentless. They made it rain with trash and debris and anything else they can get their hands with. It's pretty great to see Hogan get pelted in the face with a soda bottle.

to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if WCW gave the fans trash to throw in the ring lol

ohiochad has an opinion that makes me ignore him...
If anybody recalls, WCW and wrestling were going through a boom period in the late 90s due to the Monday Night Wars...In this case, WCW had a lot of hyped up fans.

When the nWo formed in 1996 at BATB, I thought the fans throwing trash in the real made that segment, it showed the fans were really marking out for Hogan's heel turn. Personally if I was Bischoff, I would have been delighted the way it played out.

How could WCW security be two places at once? They had to guard Goldberg..

Not to mention fend off all the run in fans.
Well, Mark Curtis handled that pretty well.

WCW was and still is trash. WCW wasn't trash. It had a lot of good and really was damn good before Ted.

WCW was no doubt one of the best promotions of all time no doubt. I mean of course now if you look at it the E' is still standing strong. You gotta give them credit overall they're probably the better promotion. But WCW had alot of high points I enjoyed watching it.
I also agree with Raine & Layton that when the NWO formed it made it so realistic how everybody was throwing trash at Hogan because they were upset.

I think the whole WCW security thing was part of Bischoff's idea that anything could and would happen on live TV

funny vid i saw the other day of a nitro when Macho Man covered Nashs face in make up & a fan jumps in the ring & gets slammed to the mat by Macho & punched in the face, made me laugh.

Yeah, it sure seemed that way. I've seen much more fans jump into the ring in WCW than WWF/E, that's for sure. It was hilarious when that fat fan jumped into the ring at Bash at the Beach '96 when Hogan turned heel and Scott Hall stomped the ever-loving crap out of him. Hilarious...

Yeah, that's definitely up there with when Eddie beat that fan up during the ladder match.

It has noting to do with WCW. Each venue has a contracted security staff. These people work everything from concerts, political rallies, even wrestling events. They are given specific instructions at a briefing before these events. I worked for one for a few months. You get a list of what is acceptable and what is not. When Green Day came to play a concert they had a list over 25 pages long of do nots. Those same guys that sing about not conforming to the rules gave us a million of them. Anyway, I'm sure WCW gave the security gaurds instuctions on what the fans could do in certain situations. As far as people charging the ring, there are just a few guards in any given section so you can see how easy it would be to jump the rail and get in the ring. Also, those guys are not supposed to use any type of force unless it is in self defense.

How could WCW security be two places at once? They had to guard Goldberg.. If Goldberg was so tough, why the hell did he need security to protect him?
