I was going to put time into sorting the roster out etc. before starting this but I though screw it, I'll keep the original rosters because I was too eager to get this going.

Avs Demolish Bruins in Season Opener
October 9th, 2008
The Colorado Avalanche tonight showed that they are a real contender this season. In a fast paced, hard hitting game of hockey, the Bruins had no answer for the Avs' bullet like shooting from outside the slot.
The Bruins did manage to score a goal in every period, but Colorado were just phenomenal, scoring 2 goals in both the first and second periods and in the last scoring 4 unanswered. The last period was embarrassing for the Bruins, with Boston's goaltender Manny Fernandez seemingly the size of a boxcar as the Avs were piercing him and scoring left, right and center.
Joe Sakic was by far the best on the ice, scoring a hat-trick, with 2 of his goals coming in under a minute during the third period.
