Well, just watched In Your House: DX, and after the HBK/Shamrock, and Owen returns, it looks as if Owen is actually stiffing Michaels and actually pounding away at HBK's head
Near the end of the video, sorry for the piss quality

on one hand i could see owen doing it, but i think it was just so that it looked real.
what's more entertaining about IYH: DX is hearing shawn and shamrock audibly talk about upcoming spots in their match. rumor has it he told shamrock to be good and loud out there so he could hear him. what a guy shawn was.

You know what's terrible? That was one of the two best chances Owen had at being WWF Champion, the other being against Bret in 1994. This would have worked so well. Let's just ignore that it ushered in Austin's era, it would have worked too if Owen started on a revenge track towards Shawn Michaels, culminating at Wrestlemania 14. Too bad Michaels had to have an ego and viewed Owen as nothing more than a way to put over Triple H.

This was really Owen's last shot at becoming WWF champion, but the reason his push had the legs cut out from underneath it is, supposedly, because of Michaels.
He didn't want to take the risk of Owen shooting on him in the ring after what happened with Bret just weeks before. Also, Austin refused to work with Owen after SS97 (mostly because Owen didn't come up to him immediately after the match and apologize for the accident).

Austin > Owen I know you said ignore that it ushered the Austin Era but seriously Owen is and was overrated. He was an excellent wrestler but not main event worthy.

Shawn Michaels vs. Owen Hart at the 1998 Royal Rumble would have been great. Their match on RAW was good, but I think they could have done much better is given time to mesh.

Owen was a professional. I don't see him stiffing anyone.

I was an Owen fan, but he was never going to be at that level.

honestly I wouldnt blame Austin for not wanting to work with Owen again-he nearly crippled him.
Austin wasnt the one that kept Owen down(McMahon was NEVER gonna give Owen a shot-EVER) thats if there was any plan for Owen to ascend-I seriously doubt there was.he was a great wrestler but was a mid card guy.
