When I took psych 1101 I asked my professor about it after class. She said it usually peaks in the early/mid teen years due to puberty with all of those hormones and the brain growing so fast at that age. That's why a lot of mid-teens have depression and/or rage.
But like someone else posted, minor signs can happen earlier. I would wash my hands more than most people from like 10-13, but true OCD kicked in when I was 14 and stopped for the most part around 16-17. I still have minor rituals at 21, but they're nothing compared to how I used to be.

I used to take medication for it, and it went away, but it brought along way worse problems, so I finally went off of it a while back and I noticed my OCD come back, but it's something I live with, it's not an exremely harsh case...so I can deal with it. It's most counting to 10 while doing lots of things/before things, and checking doors MANY times to check if they're locked. Same here, i used to do it loads I dont really have any habits anymore, but i used to have a load of little OCD habits

I still believe that everybody has OCD in their own ways.
I always check my teeth on a morning, pretty stupid, but heck, it's just the way it is.

\ That's pretty cool. I've always found it fascinating too. I was in a basic psych class my first go around at cc, but I dropped from the whole thing to get other things in order. If/when I ever get back into oakton it's something I enjoyed. Is there anything to OCD being age-related? well, often OCD begins at a young age, but children often hide the symptoms from their parents. The parents may believe their child is simply going through a phase or something. Peak age of onset for males is 6-15 years old and for females between 20-29. Ha. That's interesting... I did anything but hide it. If I didn't like the way a sock felt on my foot, I let them know.... ;D

i have it a little. everything has to be even. OCD is also related to tourrettes syndrome. i have it. but not the kind that makes you yell out bad things. sometimes i'll say something random. it makes me blink allot too.

I have it to the most extreme anyone can have it. I go to counicling every week. It is the worst thing in the world, if you have it.
I worry about doing something wrong, so I cant even go near my sisters...
I would be afraid I would drop them. They are 1 and 6 weeks.

Dude, I was like that with my cousins, it's natural at first but then you will get confidence just give it time man. Anyway back on topic, I'm not quite sure if this is OCD but I'm always checking figures for paint scratches.

I don't have COMPLETELY ridiculous ones that seriously affect my life, but got countless smaller ones that I really feel weird if I don't do... Those with OCD will probably understand when I say that I like to have things be "even." Smae here,i havent got any OCD's but i have little things i dont feel comfortable without doing. Alot of the time its stuff like if my ear brushes my shoulder i have to do it the otherside aswell.lol
