Well, I've just seen Mick Foley's debut on TNA, and my i say, it was damn good... its nice to see an ex WWE guy not totally rip WWE apart, heck his comment on Vince seemed pretty nice compared to others (he sort of turned it more toward Angle when he 'finished his line') and he also showed respect for the WWE's performers.
That aside, i watched my Best and Worst of Mick Foley DVD today (ECW bits) and i had a thought... could we see history repeat itself after this old vs new storyline is finished?
Think about it... Mick left WCW because of a dispute he had with WCW staff, this led to him going to ECW and possibly led to his most renowned work on the mic as the anti-hardcore Cactus Jack, who regretted leaving his well paid job for (and i quote) 'a sh*thole like the ECW arena', and knowing he has burnt his bridges with WCW, he tried to get his 'friend' Tommy Dreamer to leave ECW and find greener pastures in WCW.
Well... Mick seems to have done it again, he's left a well paid WWE job because of a dispute with management and it has led to him going to a small time place like TNA... could we see history repeat itself? I mean, whilst Mick won't be angry for the same 'hardcore' reasons, he could have reasons such as anger at turning his back on the company that made him a superstar and saved him from ECW.
This could benefit TNA as it would gain more hate for WWE (as this would turn Mick heel) and it would also be ideal for Mick as it is something that could be done with maximum mic time and minimum ring time (which would suit Foley)... Hell, he could start a programme with an up and coming star such as A.J or Joe, telling them to find greener pastures in WWE or with someone like Cage who knows what WWE is like... this could get them more over an a 'TNA faithful'
Also, lets face it, TNA seems to like using things from the past and other companies
I'm not usually a fan of history repeating itself, and being a big Foley fan and big ECW fan, i may be bias... but this is one thing that i would love to see happen again as i feel it could benefit TNA and also keep Foley as a top star without wrestling (it would also keep the doors open for him and WWE)
Thoughts?
