Well, I decided to write about my opinions on the weeks biggest sporting topics, I hope it can be a interesting read and I'll try to keep it as unbiased as possible.
England
Well, this past week England played twice as most of you know, against first Kazakhstan and then Belarus. The Kazakhstan game finished 5-1 whilst Belarus were beaten 3-1, everything perfect, 2 wins from 2 games and fully on course for World Cup 2010 qualification, right? Wrong. Sadly there were (as always, it seems with England) a lot of reasons to be unhappy with the performance of Capello's men, firstly after the unprecedented disappointment of failing to qualify for Euro 2008 many were expecting and demanding total domination in qualifying for the World Cup, I don't think anyone thinking that would have been expecting to conceded not only against Belarus but also the country the media had a field day with, Kazakhstan. Ashley Cole made a mistake and no, I don't feel the boo's were justified but when a player is playing Left or Right back they don't exactly come under scrutiny much by the fans and the media because they practically always perform consistency and make no noticeable mistakes, when you first choice Left Back makes a mistake surely that's the only thing you can be dropped for? or is it that Ashley Cole is immune from being dropped? we'll see. Another disappointing aspect of the weeks World Cup Qualifying games for me was Theo Walcott, not Walcott himself but the pressure put on him from the media, the kid's 19, he still has 10 or more years of improving ahead of him yet the media make him out as this great Saviour after the Kazakhstan game, clearly the pressure from those reports effected his performance as he had lets be honest a uneventful game against Belarus before being substituted. Let the guy grow naturally and mature as a player then when he's 29 if the media have to then pick off whatever he does wrong then, not now, not at this age.
The World Grand Prix Darts.
Firstly as sport's go I'd like to think I know quite alot about darts, more than your average person I'd say. Now the Grand Prix week was off to a shocking start with last years winner and my pick as a World Champion within 5 years James Wade being knocked out in the opening round, that was bad news to me as I looked forward to him progressing even more as a darts player still, this'll be a learning experience for the player. Anyway, Phil "The Power" Taylor showed why he has that nickname, the 13 time Champion of the World was comfortably in practically every match he played on his way to the prize money, even the final against Raymond van Barneveld was pretty much a stroll for him although Barny did take two sets off Taylor apart from the early stages Taylor cruised, winning the trophy 6-2. What can we Dart's fans take from this event? in short Taylor is well and truly back.
Surely Hamilton can't fail at the end of the world championship again... can he?
Well going into the past weekend's Japanese Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton was comfortably ahead of main title challenger's Felipe Massa and Robert Kubica, don't get me wrong he was still far from from the checkered flag and the world championship but for the second year running at this stage he looked set for glory, the fact that Lewis Hamilton failed to pick up points after a collision must have been a blow for him, as it was to his fans, although Hamilton still leads the Drivers Championship by 5 points from Ferrari's Massa Hamilton must have nightmares of last year were he looked certain to win the Drivers Championship in his rookie year with 2 races to go. If last year you'd of told somebody with races to go that Kimi Raikkonen was going to win the Drivers Championship you'd of probably been laughed at, with that in mind Hamilton must stay focused for the last 2 weeks of the season. 2 more wins and the Drivers Championship is his, all the time however he must be looking behind him as Felipe Massa is waiting and Robert Kubica is in the shadows.
Yeh, was quite bored so decided to write that, might to it weekly depending on the reaction
