It's simple. If you want an "arcade" style with a lot of dunks, jukes, spins, etc. Rent/buy NBA Live. If you want a more realistic version of simulation basketball. Rent NBA 2k9.

So I'm curious as to how people have been enjoying the games thus far. I already know about the DNA thing and stuff like that. But I want to hear how you feel about the game play, presentation, and stuff like that. So if you own either game share your thoughts on them since there hasn't been much talk about either.
I ask because my bday is next week and I'm really in the mood for a NBA game at the moment. I played both demos and thought they were both pretty good but obviously a demo can only go so far.
Typically I go with 2k but the demo for Live really impressed me. So I'm looking for some user opinions at the moment. Just on the games themselves not which company made them or useless stuff like that.

I played both demos and liked 2K9 more. But I still picked NBA Live 09 up, and don't regret it. The DNA thing is sort of confusing but the gameplay is pretty good. It is still really high scoring. It's hard to play D online, but then again with the 2K servers, it's hard to play 2K9 online period. I think 09 is probably the better choice, seeing as how 2K9 really didn't do that much to improve anyway.

Honestly, 2k9 has a more relaistic feel but its still not as realistic as people make it out to be. The point guard on the other team, no matter who it is, will always be the highest scorrer. Jordan Farmaar scored 38 points! Jordan freaking farmaar! The glitches are so bad and livingroster is not that good. But the worst part about 2k9 is the fact that you cant even play online. Now if you play online alot do not get 2k9. I personally think that you should go wioth Live.

The other teams PG doesn't score tons of points every game. That teams STAR might score a lot, but that's reasonable. It's how it happens in the NBA. Kobe, LeBron, Howard, Baron Davis all dropped a lot of points on me...but I expected it. If Jordan Farmar is droppinger 38 on you, I'm willing to bet you aren't very good. And as said already, NBA 2k9 IS available online...so I have no idea what you're talking about.

It takes forever to find a game and when you do it is extremely laggy. And about your statement that says I'm not good because Farmar is dropping 38 on me, its not that I'm not good, Ive only lost oen game so far, but every game the point guard, not the star player is always the lead scorer. Lebron had 11 points against me yet Mo williams had 27. Farmar had 38 and Kobe had 13, so thats not it.

Then you're just going for steals too often when he brings the ball up so he drives past you and scores. There's no other explanation. PGs RARELY score on me. A good PG will, but not a roleplayer. I've played like 24 games in my ASSOC and the only PG that's really done damage was Baron Davis....which I expected.

Hes not driving past me, he was shooting nonstop 3s and then when i would get in his face and block him, he would make it anyways.

I really don't understand how PGs are giving you so much trouble. I have had problems with a few players (LeBron, Kobe, Howard, Garnett) but not really any PG's. I just heald Rondo to 3 points. My only gripe against PGs, is in a game against the Knicks, Stephon Marbury (who has since been traded) had 21 assists. It was a bit annoying, but since the game was so much fun to play (back and forth for the whole 4th quarter) I didn't mind.

Yes I do have it for ps3, but another thing that bothers me is the fact that they make almost every shot, even when Im in their face it still goes in. And if they do somehow miss they usually get the reboound and put it in.

And if they do somehow miss they usually get the reboound and put it in. You CAN mess with sliders. I love this game. Move your sliders so not EVERY shot goes in. Also go to your coaching strategy and make sure your coach wants the entire team to crash the boards. I'm the Bulls in my season and I've had a LOT of close games. But I DID have to make Vinny Del Negros "crash the boards" strategy move up a lot. I think he had it at like 60. Now my team grabs a LOT more boards.

I bought NBA Live 09. I just wanted a game where I could just shoot and have a competition. I'm not much of a NBA fan, I just bought it to have fun.

I have tested live 09, not what I thoughtit would be, I thought gameplay wise would be a blowout against 2k9, but no 2k9 is cleary better, but i chose to get neither and sticked with NBA 2k6.
