WCW SATURDAY NIGHT - CHARLOTTE, NC
[/center]Your commentators for the night: Jim Ross & Gordon Solie
Tonight, from the home of the legendary 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair, we are getting closer and closer to the biggest PPV of the year 'Superbrawl' - what will happen tonight? Will any incidents alter the upcoming PPV? What does Paul E. and the Dangerous Alliance have up their sleeves this time? Let's find out as we begin WCW Saturday Night!!!
1st match: Michael 'PS' Hayes vs. Brian Knobbs
Tonight, one half of the Fabulous Freebirds go up against one half of the Nasty Boys with so much momentum and pride on the line, heading into the Superbrawl PPV. Saggs accompanied Knobbs to the ring, while Gordy joined Hayes at ringside to provide protection against the Nastys.
The match began with knobbs shouting and screaming at Hayes that the Freebirds "ain't worth sh*t". This caused Jim Ross to apologise to the fans at home for Knobbs's 'colorful' language. Hayes became enraged at the remark and floored Knobbs with a stiff right hand. Knobbs held his jaw and rolled out the ring to compose himself as it seemed the punch actually may have broken his jaw. Saggs shouted at referee Randy Anderson to disqualify Hayes for using a closed fist, while Knobbs got into a verbal argument with the fans at ringside who were booing him for bailing out the ring.
Knobbs climbed back in and got into a collar/elbow tie up with Hayes, Hayes backed him into a corner and Knobbs began to complain and lie to the referee that his hair was being pulled, with hayes turning to the referee to defend himself, Knobbs blind sided him with a huge elbow to the back of the head. Hayes was down and Knobbs began stomping him in the corner until the referee pushed him away. Hayes was hurt and Knobbs worked him over with a powerslam and then a side headlock. Hayes powered out and threw Knobbs into the ropes, Knobbs came back with a big boot to the face and went for a pin. Hayes kicked out and Knobbs carried on the onslaught by using the ropes to choke Hayes. On the outside when Knobbs distracted the referee, Saggs choked Hayes on the rope from the outside, causing Gordy to chase him away from the outside. Knobbs then once again applied pressure to Hayes with a powerful slam and put him in the sleeper hold in the centre of the ring.
Hayes was fading, and the referee checked his arms twice, finally on the 3rd time Hayes began elbowing Knobbs in the gut and whipped him into the ropes delivering a huge backdrop. Knobbs got up and walked into a beautiful dropkick and both men were down for the count. The referee was on "6" in his count when Knobbs got up and tried to run into Hayes. Hayes was quick and drop toe holded Knobbs straight onto the turnbuckle. The dazed Knobbs was then given a slingshot suplex and Hayes got a near fall. Hayes kept up the momentum with a series of clotheslines and punches and then went to the top to drop an elbow on Knobbs. Knobbs at the last minute put up his boot and Hayes hit it hard, falling to the mat. Knobbs barely rolled over for the cover and Saggs from the outside held onto Hayes's feet who was struggling to kick out due to the Nastie's cheating. Knobbs scored the pinfall victory and quickly rolled out the ring when Gordy ran in. Hayes and Gordy both shouted at the Nasties who celebrated up the ramp, shouting "we're the next champs!"

Winner: Brian Knobbs
Match 2: Ron Simmons/Rick Martel vs. Cactus Jack/ Lord Steven Regal
A very interesting tag team encounter with a match between Simmons and Cactus looking very likely at Superbrawl to end their bitter feud. Lord Regal has been sulking all week since the newcomer Martel beat him convincingly on last week's show.
The match began with Cactus and Martel squaring off, Cactus tried shock tactics by running full steam ahead and Martel quickly moved out the way and dropkicked Cactus down. Cactus got up and Martel again with another impressive dropkick, followed by a third. A quick headlock by Martel and Cactus whipped him into the ropes, missing a clothesline, Martel bounced off the ropes again and connected with a flying forearm. Cactus was dazed but Martel became over confident and tried a missile dropkick off the top which Cactus just moved out the way for. Cactus then pointing at Simmons began a series of heinous mounted punches on Martel - which the referee struggled to stop. Cactus was pulled off, but again he want back onto to Martel like a rabid dog punching him as hard as he could. Martel seemed bruised and weak with Cactus then dragging him into the corner, he followed up with a trademark running knee to the face. Martel was lifeless and was slumped in the corner with a glazed look in his eye. Cactus then again brutally began punching him and screaming in his face, the referee pulled him off and Cactus admonished the crowd with a "bang bang!" Regal pleaded Cactus to tag him in, with which Cactus obliged.
Regal quickly ran and picked up the limp Martel and slammed him in the middle of the ring. He then seemed to pose above the fallen Martel with the crowd booing him profusely. He then used his technical advantage by putting Martel in the abdominal stretch. Martel was screaming in pain and used his inner strength to get a hand to the rope. Regal had to break the hold and gave Martel a huge european uppercut while shouting and taunting Ron Simmons on the side. He then delivered a pumphandle suplex and went for the cover. Martel barely kicked out and Regal went to the top to deliver a flying forearm to finish the match. Martel somehow with a quick burst ran to the nearest rope knocking Regal off and causing him to fall on the turnbuckle. The crowd screamed as Martel slowly but surely made a tag to Simmons.
Simmons was in! Simmons was in! The crowd erupted as the All American grabbed the prone Regal and threw him off the top turnbuckle. He then followed with a stiff running shoulderblock which knocked Regal to the outside. Cactus came running in and Simmons back-dropped him to the outside. Cactus landed quite hard on the concrete floor. Meanwhile, regal crawled back into the ring - running towards Simmons who had his back turned shouting at Cactus. Simmons however turned around just at the right time and caught Regal with a huge powerslam. He covered for the 3 count and emerged victorious. The crowd were on their feet cheering the hero as Martel came in and congratulated Simmons on their win.

Winners: Ron Simmons & Rick Martel
With their backs turned, Cactus came in from behind to pounce on the winners. He knocked Martel out the ring and began brawling with Simmons. Officials and referees poured in from behind to break the two up. It took around 10 men to separate the two and Cactus goaded Simmons with a deranged and evil smile. In the ensuing melee, WCW chairman "Cowboy" Bill Watts came out to address both men.
Watts: Gentlemen, it seems both of you want to go at it and beat the living hell out of each other in a bad way. (crowd cheers) You've had encounters in the past and my officials here in the WCW find it impossible to officiate matches involving both of you...which is why at Superbrawl, I have chosen a special referee to officiate your match to end this madness once and for all....he is none other than the "hardcore legend" himself......TERRY FUNK!!!
(The crowd goes wild with excitement, with Simmons nodding in approval with the decision and Cactus enraged, kicking the ring ropes and yelling abuse at Watts)
Match 3: "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton vs. "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff
Earlier in the week, Eric Bischoff caught up with Paul E. and Barbarian to hear their thoughts about the "Russian Chain Match" at Superbrawl, pitting Barbarian against Koloff.
Paul E.: You know what Bischoff! The WCW executives can put the Barbarian in any match they want with Koloff, but this man will always come out on top....and you know why?? Because the Barbrian is stronger, quicker and more of a monster than Koloff could ever be....you know Koloff....you think this is a dream match for you as you always carry that stupid dog chain around your neck....well at Superbrawl, you'll meet your real nightmare, in the form of the Barbarian....Koloff listen to my words....when you mess with me and my Dangerous Alliance, you'll realise you've picked the wrong guys to mess with!
A slightly nervous Bobby Eaton came to the ring with Paul.E alongside, re-assuring him that nothing can go wrong in this match. Koloff came to the ring holding his chain and looking focused more than ever, staring a hole right through Paul E. and Eaton.
Eaton tried to gain a quick advantage by attacking Koloff from behind while he was putting his chain down. Eaton was thumping the back of Koloff with big forearm shots and then whipped him into the ropes for a dropkick. Eaton connected and Koloff was down, trying to shake off the pain. Eaton tried to pick Koloff up but Koloff grabbed him by the throat and began shouting at him. Paul E. was worrying on at ringside and was talking into his large cellphone. Koloff quickly put Eaton out with a series of suplexes - german, side and followed by a huge atomic drop which sent Eaton flying out the ring with big impact. Eaton was fed up, and he and Paul E. began walking to the back, the crowd booed as Koloff looked surprised and came running up the aisle. He pushed Paul E. down and grabbed Eaton by his hair and threw him back in the ring. He gave Eaton a huge belly-belly suplex and proceeded to pick up his chain. Paul E. pleaded with Koloff not to use the chain.
Meanwhile, from behind, the Barbarian tried to sneak up on Koloff. The crowd screamed for him to turn around, which he did and Barbarian quickly ducked back out the ring when Koloff swung his chain. Staring both Barbarian and Paul E. down, Koloff then wrapped the chain around Eaton's neck and choked him out - clearly sending a message to his opponent for Superbrawl. Officials quickly rushed in the ring managed to pull Koloff off of Eaton. Paul E. ran in with Barbarian to check on the unconcious Eaton, while Koloff walked up the ramp warning Barbarian he's next!

Winner: Bobby Eaton by DQ
The Main Event: Barry Windham vs. Arn Anderson
A highly anticipated match as former Horsemens collide. Paul E. got this match signed to soften up Windham for his match against Rude at Superbrawl and give Anderson some momentum for his match against Orndorff at the same PPV.
A very had hitting and intense match with both former partners staring each other down. Anderson then proceeded to slap Windham in the face and Windham answered with an even bigger slap that caught Anderson off-guard. Windham then irish whipped Anderson into the ropes giving him a huge boot to the face. Anderson rolled out the ring to compose himself and the enforcer rolled back in to a collar and elbow tie up. The experienced Anderson, used a kick to the groin to pick up the advantage and then proceeded to wear-out Windham with right hands and submission manouvers.
Putting Windham in the camel clutch, Anderson tried to cause maximum damage, but Windham with his strength was able to break free with Arn still on his back, by standing up and falling back causing Anderson to bear the brunt of the fall. The referee began the 10 count as neither man could get up until "8" was called. Anderson again tried to gain the upper hand by charging Windham, but Barry countered and moved out the way and threw Anderson to the outside. Windham then finally tried to pull up Anderson from outside, but was a bad move as Arn grabbed Windham's head and bounced it off the rope causing a whiplash effect. Windham fell back and Anderson gave the 6ft 7inch texan a chop block to the knee and slapped on the texas cloverleaf. Windham was in huge pain but got to the rope- breaking the move. Anderson was irate and stalked him for the spinebuster. Windham turned around and kicked Anderson in the gut, lifting him up for the running powerslam.
Rick Rude came in through the crowd and leaped onto the apron, hitting Windham in the back of the head with the US title, while he had Anderson on his shoulders. Windham collapsed in a heap and Rude jumped down and hid under the apron to avert the referee's gaze. Anderson got up slowly and then put the semi unconscious Windham in a huge spinebuster to cover for the win. Rude then came in and spoke trash to the fallen Windham, then proceeding to do his hip grinding dance over him. Anderson and Rude then began putting the boots to Windham and the crowd booed loudly. Luckily, Paul Orndorff and Rick Steiner came to the rescue. Orndorff went after Anderson with a series of rights and a huge clothesline over the top rope - causing Arn to crash to the outside. Steiner drop-kicked Rude to the outside. The heels then went up the ramp holding their heads and shouting at Orndorff, while Steiner attended to the hurt Windham.

Contract Signing for the World Heavyweight Title Match at Superbrawl
A table with a white cloth draped over it, was placed in the middle of the ring with a contract lying on the top. WCW officials - Bill Watts and JJ Dillon stood in the ring with 3 referees as Big Van Vader made his way to the ring with manager Harley Race.
The World Champion Sting then made his way out, high-fiving fans all the way down the aisle.
Gordon Solie stood in the ring with the microphone as Sting and Vader squared up across the table and referees held them apart. Solie then asked both men to sign the contracts, with Vader putting his name on the dotted line first, he then threw the pen at Sting's face and demanded he sign it too. An irritated Sting was shown by JJ Dillon where to put his signature on the paper.
Sting signed and then threw the contract at Vader's face, and speaking into Solie's microphone: " hey vader, i've signed the contract and don't worry its just a legal thing so that I don't get thrown in jail for beating your 450pound a$$ at superbrawl!" Vader was furious as the crowd laughed and Harley Race held him back. After calming down the big monster, Race spoke into the microphone: "Stinger....this contract means nothing to Vader as he doesn't need to sign a piece of paper to declare he's going to be the next world champ!" With this said, Race delved into his pocket and threw a white powder into Sting's eyes; blinding the world champion. Vader came across the table, and began attacking Sting. Officials and referees scrambled from the ring as Vader continued his assault. Race then ordered Vader to Vader bomb Sting through the table. The crowd was stunned into silence as Sting was then brutally Vader-bombed through the table in the ring. Vader looked almost possessed and posed with the title in his hand. Race then threw the contract over Sting's body as the crowd booed loudly with the monster towering over the fallen world champion.
