Honestly in my mind there's no stand out guy in wrestling at the moment and this is a great shame.
Do you think anyone has the potential to be a serious breakout superstar and get somewhere near to Hulk Hogan's level?

I'm a fan of John Cena and he is most defintely the biggest wrestler in the world today, but on the same level as Hulk Hogan? I really don't think so.

The only person that could be the kind of 'superstar' Hulk Hogan was, is John Cena.
IMO, the only person that could be the kind of 'superstar' The Rock was, is Randy Orton.

Honestly, Cena is on a higher level than Hogan...if you take into consideration where Hogan was when he was Cena's age. John Cena is 31 years old. Hogan was 31 in 1984. Hogan won his FIRST world title in 1984 (Cena has already held it three times). Hulkimania did not really take off until a little after that. Wrestlemania did not even come around until Hogan was 32 years old. John Cena has already headlined two Wrestlemanias before the age Hogan got to his first. Hogan walked away when he was 54 years old. That gives Cena 23 more years to accomplish everything Hogan did (and he does not need all 23). John Cena > Hulk Hogan

Cena. He's done more than Hogan in such a shorter timescale.

Wrestling is no where near what it was at Hogan's peak.
I don't think it's possible to generate Hulk Hogan like status today, hell...you can't even reach Austin/Rock status anymore.
Wrestling is looked at WAY differently now.

Just because of their age at the time of the accomplishment does make a difference. Also Hogan held the world title for 4 years. So that is longer than all of Cena's reigns combined. Forget the Wrestlemania thing, that doesn't matter, Hogan was around before Wrestlemania was even a thought. Not to mention all of the shows before that Hogan was headlining. So in closing 1 4 year title reign > 3 moderately short title regins

We don't need another Hulk Hogan, the first one was bad enough. Also Hulk Hogan never got booed out of the building when he was a face unlike John Cena, at least Hogan was liked by everybody (except me). I hate both of them, but I gotta say Hulk Hogan > garbage > Cena.
I would also like to add that wrestlers need to make a name for themselves. I hate it when people say who's going to be the next so-and-so, or so-and-so is going to be the next so-and-so. I really hate that with a passion.

Wrestling is looked at WAY differently now. I have to agree with this. When Hogan was on top he was an A list celebrity. When he had his feud with Earthquake where Quake broke his ribs his "injury" was covered by all the tabloids and he had to walk around with his ribs taped up all day. It was a big story and was covered much the way the media covers people like Britney or Paris today. It's not gonna make the local newspapers, but it does make the tabloids. I don't see Cena or anyone else ever hitting that level.

They're sure building Cena up to be the next Hogan. I don't think he's quite on that level YET, but he's on the right track and they're pushing him for it.
Which will be fantastic when they decide to turn him heel.

Forget the Wrestlemania thing, that doesn't matter, Hogan was around before Wrestlemania was even a thought. Not to mention all of the shows before that Hogan was headlining. So in closing 1 4 year title reign > 3 moderately short title regins No, my argument is not stupid. The age at which someone does something is very important--especially in the wrestling business (the age thing also has to do with the fact that Cena has many more years to accomplish the things that Hogan did). Hogan held the belt back in a time when it was not unusual for someone to hold the championship belt for years. Bruno Sammartino held the belt for nearly eight years. Does that make him better than anyone else? Not necessarily. That means he was the top star at the time. In this day in wrestling when you have stars everywhere and the competition is so high that we've had the World Championship change hands six times already this year (and three times in three months), it is incredible to get a reign as long as Cena's reign of 380 days in 2006-2007. You cannot compare a long reign in the 70s or 80s to a reign today. They are completely different. John Cena > Hogan in 1984 If you do not want to go by age, we can go by time as a wrestler. Hogan began training to be a wrestler in 1976. It took him eight years to win a world title. Cena began training in 2000 to be a wrestler. He was world champion by 2005.

To me Cena is better than Hogan.
1. He isn't a complete, money whoring piece of shit. Time may say different, but so far so good. 2.Mic skills on par, if not better. 3.More talent.
I don't see him being another Hogan, but just John Cena. It's different time period, you can't have a version of Hogan all the time.
