Over the last couple of days on my local News boadcast that Mattel is or has left off more than half of there company sorry if this is old news but thought I would let you guys know of the situation.Do you think Mattel will go thourgh with the WWE line or will it stay with Jakks. It would be nice if Jakks did both WWE and TNA but I think thats way to much to handle. What do you guys think.

It can't stay with Jakks unless WWE resigns with them. Which the WWE won't since Jakks signed with TNA already which is like a "sin".

laid off which half of the company? It probably just means even more outsourcing as long as they keep the Four Horsemen I don't really care, and in times like this I would think a WWE license would be one of the ones kept as it's a proven seller. We'd probably not see things like the MOTU relaunch in the future from a couple of years ago, and the future of the DCU line might be in jepordy.

Mattel are under contract by WWE. They will do as WWE ask and thats the end of it. And even if Mattel were bombed in the morning, i imagine Jakks are the last company Vince would sign a contract with.

I'm not quite sure it works like Mattel doing as WWE asks. I mean Toybiz/Marvel Toys were under contract to TNA, but we still wont get series 9.
I think it's more of Mattel are the only ones who can legally make WWE licensed toys. Not they have to make WWE toys. For that right Mattel would have had to pay a fee to the WWE, and after that, that's it. Now I could be wrong, but I don't think the WWE paid a fee to Mattle to make them make their toys.

There going to be or all ready laid half of there works off. That means will they be able to make the WWE figs on time and not fall behind.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, to be honest with you.
Mattel will most likely still release WWE figures on time, as I don't see there being a connection between the two things.

Less staff = less money Mattel pays for staff = more money

If the business is losing profit, they need to cut costs, so the least important workers are fired, thus leaving them with more money, or at least the equal amount of money they had before the profit loss. A company would not fire all of their workers.

For that right Mattel would have had to pay a fee to the WWE, and after that, that's it. Now I could be wrong, but I don't think the WWE paid a fee to Mattle to make them make their toys. If WWE were a smaller brand, You would be completely correct. However, because WWE are pretty much a 'guaranteed to sell' brand name, and they have a varied roster, WWE can commit to a wrestler that that person will get a figure (not because it will make the wrestler feel better that he's getting a figure, but because he gets a percentage of the money made from his merchandise). So if WWE sign Kofi Kingston, Ken Kennedy and Kane to action figure deals through their contract, and Mattel decide they won't bother making any more, you'll have a group of upset wrestlers, which in turn leads to an upset Mr. Mcmahon, which means that Mattel, once their contract expires, will never see a WWE logo ever again. Don't get me wrong, if we were going only by fact, and technicalities, you would be 100% completely right. However, what should happen and what does happen are always very different things.

Lol, I love how people on here jump on any little bit of news to give them hope that Jakks will carry on the line.
This won't affect Mattel doing the WWE line. They're probably just firing American employees and replacing them with more foreign labour.

WWE is to smart these days to be screwed over by a toy company. They probably have a clause where if Mattel can't or won't produce a certain amount of figures they will be able to take their line elsewhere.

Mattel is not going anywhere. Everyone is doing bad in this economy, there is going to be lay-offs. No big deal.

If Mattel really needs money they will look at letting the Horsemen go and letting them work on a few freelance projects for them. Mattel having cash issues isn't a big shocker either. Go look at their shelf space at TRU and you'll see that they own the die-cast car area, but are losing control of the Barbie area and have a decreasing share of the action figure section. The biggest section in the action figures at the TRU near me are the wrestling toys. Mattel is about to be handed their biggest cash cow yet. You will see WWE toys, the He-Man special editions (online at least) and some DCU stuff (as long as profits pick up) no matter what happens.
