I hope the Gitmo thing doesn't come back to bite Obama on the ass. Considering he has no military or tactical experience and may not understand how things really work in the field I'm not sure if closing a military prison where some of the most disgusting and vile enemies of the United States are being held is the brightest thing he could do. I'd rather see him spend the first year (plus) working on getting our economy out of the crapper with his "spend more / fix more" strategy. Either way, should make for headlines. It's not like he's letting them go free. They will be held in federal jails and then tried and those that they have no evidence against will be let go. As it should be.

I have no problems with that as long as if we catch 'em again we can shoot them on-site.

It's not quite as simple as that though. We've kind of created a huge disaster there. If we leave it becomes more of a terrorists breeding ground than it is. Not completely leave. Just not be there with as many soldiers as now. I like the idea of less, highly trained soldiers as opposed to a mass of dumbasses. I don't know. There really is no substitute for sheer numbers.

This guy that used to come by the restaurant I work at and sell cologne out of a bag just came back from pakistan after being there like 2 years. He said US always does bombings there and US and Pakistan military are always fighting but you never hear anything about it.

Waging secret wars is something they should be awfully careful about, they very well could be influencing people to join Al-Qaeda.
It's impossible to kill every operative, which is why the war on terror will never end. It's actually pretty genius, because now the U.S. can essentially do what they please and connect it to that war to justify the actions.

I'm surprised that most of you didn't already know about this.

I'm surprised that most of you didn't already know about this. Most of us aren't in the loop on secret orders between Bush and Rumsfield.
