The Fall of the Raiders Birth of the Bombers
Al Davis announced after a let down season that infact the Raiders will be packing up their books and putting them into history. Why? Because the Raiders are history as of February 10. Reports say Davis and The Raiders have been losing significant amounts of money for the past 4 years, losing season after losing season. The Raiders can no longer economically stand anymore. We talked to John Madden who is a legendary Raiders coach in great sadness he said "This was a day I never expected to happen and never wished to happen. It's a very sad day for all of the people associated with the Raiders, The fans must be torn as I am too." Good luck to Al Davis and all of associated Raiders in there future endeavours. The new team merging into the NFL is a Canadian team! Yes that's right, The NFL will now be playing in Canadian turf. Lambeau will have nothing on Canada after this season. The team is too be the Hamilton Bombers. The team will be owned by Canadian icon Doug Flutie. A legend in the CFL who has also played with the Buffalo Bills, Chargers and Patriots. Without a doubt he has unlimited knowledge of the game but is he good with money management? Only time will tell.

This stadium will hold approximately 89 000 fans. The stadium will be packed with Digital Audio, LCD Jumbo Screens, Nano Turf and Cafes galore. Every fans dream stadium. 2008 Draft
Oakland had second dibs in the draft but after trading away a few players they got both a 2nd round and a 4th round pick in the draft. First picking up Left Tackle, Bryan Crockett (OVR 79). Following him Picking up LE Jason Stone (OVR 82). The Raiders also picked up a few more players including Shevin Hunter (OVR 59) and other Roster fillers. From what we have seen Oakland seemed to have gotten a weak draft this year so after struggling last year with a poor record and not pulling off the Draft choices they were hoping that would come out of them. Let's hope that they can improve their team in the Free Agent period coming up this week.

During the Free Agent Wire Raiders picked up QB Andrew Walters and Byron Leftwich, Two solid quarterbacks that will surely be battling for the No.1 Spot. We have heard from sources that Walkters is currently set as the designated starter going into the pre season. They also signed some players to help fill their roster. Recently The Oakland Raiders have picked up some high profile players in free agency and cashed them in to greatly improve there offensive line. Going from a sub par to on paper, the best in the league. They had picked up DE Jason Taylor and Richard Seymour and traded them to the Patriots for LT Matt Light (95) and LG Logan Mankins (95). Then trading Derrick Burgess to the Bears for C Olin Kreutz (93). There line is now filled with Pro Bowlers and potential hall of famers. This will surely help their run game and passing game, As it seemed there offense was doomed they pick up major players.

Season Outlook
The fresh new Hamilton Bombers have alot to prove and alot to lose. They have just substituted for a legendary dynasty that is no more. They need to prove to themselves, Canada, The NFL and the former Oakland fans that must have a very bitter feeling in their mouths. So the stakes are high on this team. With a fresh new team they will have some goods but usually the bads outweigh the goods. What not to worry about:Surprisingly this team doesn't have to worry about, and that's the Offensive line. This line is stacked with phenomenal talent and is the best Offensive Line I have seen in a long time and quite possibly ever. With this offense it puts alot of the pressure away from their QB in which they need that to compete with better QB's. They will look better then how they were on their previous teams because quite frankly no QB has had a O line like this. What to worry about:Defense, Mainly on the line. Why? They have mediocre players on the line a young gun who will be learning the NFL as a starter. I am assuming run oriented teams will be able to bulldoze through whichever shape or form they want to. But there Linebackers are pretty good. With Kirk Morrison and Thomas Howard they will be able to provide a much needed line defense. But if there trying to stop the run consistently because the D Line can't get it done it will open up the pass in the middle substantially. Key Players:The wide receivers (Javon Walker and Ronald Curry) These two will be having to make some great catches to help with the lack of the quarterback skill they have. Although the offensive line is phenomenal it cannot stop everything. They will need to make crisp routes and great catches almost routinely. Nnamdi Asomugha will also be a big time player on there defense and I expect him to deliver. He is a phenomenal corner and will be able to shut down each teams best receivers weekly. But he will need to keep the defense in check, especially mentally. This team will give up alot of first downs and points and he needs to make sure they stay determined and don't give up. He has alot to carry on defense. Preseason Results will be up soon.

Bombers vs BengalsThere were many questions before the game started about the Bombers. Who's there starting QB? Will they win? How are they going to stop Ocho Cinco? How's their running game? There front D line? The kickoff started and out ran Byron Leftwich onto the field after reportedly being the 2nd stringer over Andrew Walter. First HalfThe Hamilton Bombers had started off strong capping off a 60 yard drive that ended up with a 5 yard TD to Javon Walker. On the Bengals first drive Tyvon recovered a fumble and returned it to the house for a quick 14-0 lead.Things were looking good until Byron Leftwich threw his first interception of the game. That was the first of his three. It was returned for a pick-six by Jonathan Joseph. Bengals eveentually scored again very late in the 2nd quarter after Byron threw his second pick and managed to cap off another TD for 17 yards by Kenny Watson. Second HalfIn the third quarter no points were scored. A defensive battle by both teams. But in the 4th with the Bengals looking for a score they scrounged up a 47 yard field goal by S Graham. Now in the lead 17-14 the Bombers looked to answer and got stopped short but Janikowski managed to bail out the offense with a 40 yard fieldgoal. When everything seemed to be going to OT Ocho Cinco hooked up with Carson Palmer for a 24 yard pass TD with just a buck-thirty to go. On second down on the Bombers possesion Byron was sideblinded and sacked and sent to the sidelines. Andrew Walters had his chance to be a hero and came up short after being nearly sacked and being forced into 4th and 10. He managed to pick up the eighteen yards and the first. Byron came back and with just 3 seconds on the clock the Bombers went for there last throw and the ball was being juggled in the endzone after a long bomb and the ball was then sadly picked off once more which ended the game and sent the Bombers to 0-1 in their first ever regular season game. OPG - Chad Ocho Cinco 7 catches, 106 yards, 1 TD DPG - Johnathon Joseph Three tackles, 1 INT, 1 TD OffenseC-: Though they have a lack of QB and rushing depth they should not have thrown as many interceptions as they did. Although Byron Leftwich made some good plays he made more bad ones. Their strong point was their run game and even that was just mediocre with 76 rush yards. DefenseC+: The one reason they stayed in the game was their defense. They let 228 passing yards but shut down their run about as good as the Bengals did to them. But whenever the Bengals needed a play to happen it usually happened. Special TeamsB: Not much to say about special teams, Janikowski made 1 field goal with just one attempt and they made pretty good returns.

Doug Flutie Press Conference Doug Flutie enters into the press conference room shortly after his team loss to the Bengals. Blinding flashes fill the room as he walks to the podium as questions rush in. Reporter #1: Mr. Flutie how are you taking your first loss. Mr. Flutie: Uhh, We- Reporter #2: Sir are you going to bench Byron Leftwich because of his playing this week? Reporter #3: I heard that Tom B- Mr. Flute: One at a time please! I'll start with the first question I managed to hear first. It is hard to lose a game, I've lost many. This ones especially hard because it's the first of the season, it's the first game, it's a new team. But we all need to realize it's only one loss. So we got to ignore it, learn from our mistakes and move on. It's ok to make mistakes it happens, but you need to learn from them and no I am not going to bench Byron Leftwich, It's only been one game and I spoke to him right after the game he was upset and felt that it was all his fault. Sure he made mistakes but we all did. We just need to learn from them and move on. I won't be subbing Byron off because of how he's played but maybe to explore the other talent we have. But for now. It seems that were sticking with Byron. Reporter #4: If anybody wants to ask a question feel free to pops one and I'll answer it.
