Yeah, you may be right, but who finished the fight?? Yeah, exactly what I thought. Yes, and Anderson Silva finished the fight against Patrick Cote. Mmkay.

Certainly not like there was in the 2nd Penn/Hughes fight, that's for damn sure!! ;D And yet, Silva gets the win. Same way Hughes got the win, because the opponent got hurt by THEMSELVES. Both fights were trash. I'm not saying Penn didn't lose, but I'm saying that there's a pretty simple reason that he went from DESTROYING Hughes to suddenly not being able to breath. Separated ribs will do that pretty quickly.

Maybe I'm a bit confused here, but how is this going to work if Penn is currently in the Lightweight class?

Penn is moving up in weight from Lightweight.
So, if Penn wins this, he'll be both the Lightweight and Welterweight champ.
Regardless of the toll it'll inevitably take on his body (and I've practically been preaching that even an athlete the caliber of BJ Penn won't be able to constantly bounce between weight classes without it taking a toll on his body down the line) BJ has vowed to defend both belts if he should win.

I think that is so funny. It'll be interesting to watch if he does win on how successful he is at jumping up and down in weight. But wasn't BJ the one who said he wants to fights once or twice a year so that he has a long career as a fighter? Now he wants to defend both titles which would be probably around 3 title defenses on each belt a year?
I think GSP takes it, though.

I believe that we already knew this information. BJ will still defend the Lightweight belt.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was told Penn was moving to Welterweight on a permanent basis.

I like both guys, but for the sake of the 155 and 170 divisions, I am pulling for GSP to win. It would be cool to see BJ Penn hold two different titles at the same time, but it would also suck to see the rest of the fighters in both weight classes wait six months or longer between title shots, to accomodate Penn jumping up and down in weight to defend both simultaneously.
That's an awful lot of good fighters who would suddenly be forced to fight each other perpetually while waiting for their shot at Penn to arrive.
