... to go to that next level? Now there are people that believe "stars" or "big-name" wrestlers are the key to a product thriving and being able to compete with the WWE. Personally, I believe a unique product with well thought-out booking is the key. However, for the people that do believe that it takes that one big name or angle to do it (ala Hogan and/or the NWO in WCW), the question is what "star" or "stars" will attract more fans to TNA and allow them to do big numbers. Angle, Nash, Booker, Sting, nor the several other former WCW and WWE talent that has been employed by TNA were capable of doing it. A few people I talk with believe that Hogan could. Now that's someone I certainly don't wanna see in TNA, but what's some of your thoughts?
Note: This thread has nothing to do with bashing TNA, so all the apologists can save the usual horsecrap. I posted it to get people's thoughts and create discussion on if they believe TNA's success will come down to that one big signing. And if they do believe this could or would work, who do they think has the star power to attract enough viewers to really make TNA a true challenge to the WWE? Or are some of you guys like me and feel that ultimately it's not going to come down to how many big-names TNA can/will sign, but the general direction of the company that will. Thoughts?

They don't need any big stars. They have a good roster already, they are just using them in the most shittiest ways possible.

If the guys you listed couldn't, I would say
1. Hulk Hogan
2. John Cena
and 3 (which is most likely). A good creative team

Only Big stars I can think of are Rock, Austin, and or Hogan that are currently not with WWE.

The only two people that'd actually gain huge ratings would be The Rock or Stone Cold, and neither will ever happen.

Yeah if I had to, I would say Paul Heyman. From reading his thoughts on TNA in recent interviews, I think he would have more of an effect than any wrestler could.

I think we all know the difference between a post bashing TNA and one asking a question. Thanks for the post  Now, of the current avilable "big name" talent..ie..RVD, Lashley, Cryme Tyme, etc, I dont think any of those talents would put TNA over the top. I think TNA would need to land a HHH(never gonna happen), Or John Cena and it'd have to be in a surprising type of way, for TNA to get that boost. That's part of the problem is that the TNA influxes are not much of a surprise, except Angle. WHen a star leaves WWE, rumors already start with Them going to TNA. I guess we can blame the internet for that. So inorder for any of this to really pay off, you still need that surprise element ala Lex Luger, Scott Hall in WCW. |

I would love to see The Rock step in, but that won't happen. I would mark big time for Brock Lesnar.

Well since WWE can't establish big name stars anymore that catch on to the outside of wrestling world, none. Don't tell me Cena either. He's the reason why people hate the current product, besides the stupidity of every thing they do.
