Causal Fan: Hogan = Ratings Casual Fan: Alex Shelley = *Clicks Remote* Did people know who Hogan was since day one? Comparing the amount of build and investing WWF/WCW put in Hogan as opposed the exposure Alex Shelley gets is ludicrious. Honestly, If shelley was given the same hype Hogan would still be bigger. Hogan was at the right place and at the right time, with the right look...that's what made him popular. |

I didn't mean Hogan and Shelley specifically. Of course people recognize Hulk Hogan, of course people recognize Kurt Angle. That's because they are already established stars. WWE put the time and money into those two, pushed them, and they turned out to be great stars. A wrestling promotion can't just rely on externally established stars for the rest of its existence. Quite frankly, it hasn't even helped TNA to this point. |

Name value doesn't work anymore. There is nobody that can go into TNA and the ratings would jump through the roof. I don't think it can happen. It's going to have to take very good booking to get people to watch.

They Already have Kurt Angle and Christian Cage from WWE. Not to mention AJ Styles and Samoa Joe are big stars made in TNA, they don't need anyone else.

I've followed the philosophy that in order for TNA to grow, they need to create a solid, unique identity. They aren't going to do that by "copying and pasting" WWE guys onto their roster. IMO, the big names they do bring (sparringly at most frequent) should fit TNA's originally intended high-workrate style, and their gimmicks should be tweaked in order to take the "WWE-ness" out of their characters. Guys like Rock, Austin, and Hogan would do more harm than good for TNA in that respect... they are too attatched to WWE for TNA to benefit. I mean TNA might as well be paying for WWE advertising space during Impact.
Oh, and Alex Shelley with Kevin Nash for a manager could go above and beyond, say, Chris Jericho's popularity if booked correctly. Shelley is so well-rounded and gifted a promotion that misuses his talents this badly should be charged with crimes against humanity.
