Hi all. I was thinking the other day how I used to love collecting when I was younger and how I got started in the first place. It used to be so exciting when you would walk into a store and find a figure that you hadn’t seen before.
The very first figure I ever bought was The Million Dollar Man Hasbro series 1. I was really into wrestling at this time and we went into WH Smith in Bexleyheath (Kent, UK) and they had most of series 1. I bought M$M mainly because he came with a belt. Looking back, I wished I picked up Andre as I never managed to get my hands on him.
Around the same time I ordered the Hasbro ring from Littlewoods (a direct order catalogue). When the ring arrived there was a massive surprise, it came with a belt, plus series 1 Hogan & Warrior, neither of these were advertised in the catalogue description.
However, my most exciting wrestling figure collecting experience happened a little later. We were in Woolwich (South East London) and we went into the large WH Smith store and to my (and my sisters) amazement, they had Hasbro Tag Team series 1. I picked up the Bushwhackers and my sister the Rockers. I was so made up at the time, it was the best experience.
Unfortunately, when I turned about 17 I sold off my Hasbro collection, I had so many figures and sold them off for pretty much nothing.
And as I am sure happened with so many collectors, I reached about 22 and started collecting again. My return to this arena was the new nWo figures, I loved these. Then Shawn Michaels returned and I had to pick up his new figure, my first RA. And then of course the Classic Superstars were launched and I picked up all of Series 1.
I hope I haven’t bored you all to death, I just wanted to tell my story. I am now 28, love figure collecting and have over 200 RA’s.
Thanks for listening.
