But am I the only one that hates the Road Warriors?
I started watching wrestling in probably...1994...around that time. I hated them then, I hate them now.
I remember back in 03 right before Hawk died, they workd Kane and RVD, and no-sold the hell out of them! I hoped they wouldn't be back permantently, luckily I was right.
We were all chillin the other night, and decided to watch the Road Warriors DVD. They were horrible! They had a horrible gimmick, and couldn't wrestle their way out of a wet paper bag with three sides missing.
All they did was brawl, and even that sucked. They were way to sloppy and locked hella dangerous.
Watching the Essential Starrcade, and seeing how they were every other match, made me hate them more.
Can anyone tell me what's so great about them? It seems they were just the 80s version of Batista, only there were two of them. Yeesh.

Nope, I loved em. The most popular tag team in history.

Pretty bold statement considering you started watching wrestling in 94, well after they had peaked.
They were great for their time, simple as that really. They got the job done, they had an incredible gimmick for the time, they had bloody massive spikes and a mint finishing move.
They wernt my fav's (demolition were), but i'll give them credit

i was actually just thinking something like this today, after i re-read foley is good and mick pointed out they went from being main eventers to locker room punchline within a year. it's weird because i bought the Road Warriors DVD for some reason but yeah, looking back, LOD really don't do much for me. 80's version of Batista sounds about right. they were pretty good when matched up against a talent team but otherwise if their matches were booked over 5 minutes they were snoozefests. i think if i die and go to hell i'd be forced to watch the lod take on the godwins and the doa in an endless loop.

well my favorite tag team of all time is the british bulldogs. but if you watch the road warriors in the mid eighties you have to admit they seemed able to kick anyones ass in the world. they fit in perfectly with the horsemen, dusty, magnum and that great era of nwa. some of there promos were kick ass too.
G money are you out there?

When i started watching in 98, them and goldust were my favorite wrestlers, and it sickens me that you said that luckily you were right they wouldn't be seen again again after the match with kane and rvd as Hawk died soon after.

finally someone admits they are overrated. I mean they had a great gimmick. But hell they no sold moves. Always went over. Were nothing spiecal on the mic. How anyone can rate them as the greatest is laughable. Sure they hold all the major belts but so do the Dudleys. Belts are hardly the excuse to warrent someone as the greatest. Rockers never held the belt. Yet they were innovative and broke out as singles. Also none could hold their own as singles. My picks as they greatest:
Hart Foundation, British Bulldogs, Hardy's, Edge and Christian and the Rockers. All were innovative, some even could sell out as tag teams. Bulldogs were second only to Hogan as far as popularity goes for the early 80's.

I find most older wrestling to be incredibly boring to watch... it was wrestlers like the Road Warriors that made it so... They were bland, boring and generally uninteresting...

In their time, which was the mid to late 80s, they were the best, and most exciting tag team out there. Their promos were great, for their time, their gimmick was new at the time, and the builds were certainly unique for their time period. Few tag teams even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as them.

Sure it was cool when you were a kid but so was the Ultimate Warriors ramblings.

Yup even if you hate them, you got to admit that the Road Warriors "raised the bar" when it came to tag team wrestling. They had a totally different look, demaenour and wrestling style. Pretty much ushered in a new era. Lets face it, if it wasn't for them - we would never have seen the Powers of Pain or Demolition........

Hawk was pretty good on the mic actually. Probably the most famous team in history, however, they didn't sell any moves and it made other people coming up not want to sell moves.
