Well, It's been a VERY LONG time since I busted out my paints/brushes but I decided to get them out and fix the jakks RnR express disaster so here they are (Ricky Mortons eyes look alittle weird due to the flash but they are normal and the white hot spots are also from the flash).. Not sure if I should put them here or not since they are only head paintings but I'll leave that up to the mod to decide. thats the best ive seen these heads painted my toys r us got a box in and they were painted wrong so i hope to get normal ones soon

They look so much better that way, I wish I had the painting skills do do that fix up - so i'm just gonna wait till Jakks makes corrected ones or until they hit clerance.

Wow perfect paint job. It's great that you left some dark roots on Morton. Every other one I have seen has been too blond.

I agree about the roots. The fixups look really good but the hair on Gibson is a bit too dark. Gibson should have a lazy eye,  . |

I'd like to duplicate what you did with these. I've never done a custom before, though. Can you tell me specifically what paint I should get, the exact colors, and the type of brush to use. Much appreciated.

I mixed several paints for ricky morton and did a bunch of shading which is kinda difficult to pull off for a 1st timer, I painted the hair white and left the dark roots and then I painted it yellow with a mix of brown (nutmeg I think) and then another layer of canary yellow shaded and then a final layer of shaded off white..... Robert Gibson is solid black (I attempted to give him brown Highlights but I didn't like the result so I just went back over it with solid black), Overall the painting to about 35 minutes but due to the layering it took a couple days to complete it ( The eyes are nutmeg brown for gibson and off blue for ricky with dots of black and white on each)....... I don't recall a lazy eye on either member (and I just meet both of them in the last 2 years)?..... Thanks for the replies and thanks again gate for posting the pics. |
