Want to include a good variety of heros and villains from DC and Marvel (including X-Men), but the problem is I'm a huge sucker for collections that have a good deal of consistency. So I'm looking for a few lines of superhero action figures that could be displayed well together, roughly 5-6 inches and highly articulate preferably.
Also, I don't read comics religiously, so I don't need twenty different variations of each hero, or to get into alternate universes and all that ****. Heros and villains from the most mainstream to the most obscure are appreciated, but I'm just looking for each in their most basic form.
Any help is appreciated, and please try to avoid comments directed towards my lack of knowledge, because I am aware and completely accepting of the fact that this is unfamiliar territory to me.
Also, comparison pictures are highly appreciated.

here are some good lines to get into: Dc Universe classics Marvel Legends Dc Superheroes Marvel Select Spider-man Classics X-men Classics Hulk Classics Iron Man(movie) Dark Knight Movie Masters here is some pictures of my stuff: I think the ideal thing to do is try to find your favorite characters first. Marvellegends.net is a good site for images and dcuniverseclassics.com is also good. My top figures to get: Marvel Legends: Iron Fist Red hulk series Wolverine Face-off Hulk Nightcrawler Beast Face-off Captain America Series 4 Punisher Series 5 Silver Surfer Series 3 Thor Build a Figure Sentinel Apocalypse Juggernaut Series 4 Gambit Face-off Dare Devil Deadpool Bishop Dr. Doom Spider-man Classics Superposable Spider-man(If you can get him) Sandman Carnage Series 12 Venom Hulk Classics Mecha Hulk Joe Fixit X-men Classics Optic Blast Cyclops Ice-man Storm Colossus Dc Universe Ares Penguin Nightwing Green Lantern Robin Deathstorke Aquaman Dc Superheroes Darkseid Doomsday Grey and Black Batman(Same as the spidey mentioned) Clayface Two-face Superman(I like the one with the black s myself more) Lex Luthor Brainiac Iron Man Mark 3 Cockpit Iron Monger I have to warn you that it becomes an expensive hobby. I will post some more pictures tomorrow. Like Marvel legends, the difference between Hasbro and toybiz, and Dc Universe/Dc Superheroes compared to Marvel legends. I hope I can help.

For me, it's DCUC, or DC Universe Classics as it's officially called.
Good paint jobs, lots of articulation, and their BAF's are great. DCUC was what made me make the switch from RA and DA. I've never really looked back.
I've liked DCUC since the first series, and every series continues to impress me. So DCUC gets the nod by far.

I started collecting superhero figs seriously this year and some of them can be hard to find. Just collect what you like, I know that isn't the best advice but it's easy enough. I've been collecting DCUC Batman oriented figures and picked up a good amount since starting in september. So far DCUC wise I have
Batman (found in a comic shop) Nightwing Robin Batgirl Azrael Riddler Batmen Beyond Deathstroke Solomon Grundy
I still wanna get Penguin from DCUC and I wanna get the other bat villians, but I'm waiting and hoping that DC will release guys like Joker, Two-Face, Clayface and others in the universe line

If you want to collect figs and is not a big enough reader try Infinite Heroes. Wide variety so far and better for the wallet.

As much as I love the DCIH (I just need Star Saphire, Batwoman & Question & the Metropolis 8-Pack) to be caught up. I don't think Hasbro's Fury Line will be the same scale. My Gotham Patrol set will be here from TRU.com tomorrow. My custom "Classic" Hal - So far my favorites are - Batman - Wildcat - Green Lantern - Green Arrow - Hawkman -

They are smaller than BnB & Joes. They are about the same height as an Indy figure, but their scale is smaller.

Hmmm, there's this set of Marvel figures at Target that say they're Target exclusive, and then these DC Universe figures that I believe were the aforementioned DCUC figs - would these look good displayed together scale wise? Kind of hard to tell in the package, I'll get the exact names of the lines and possibly a pic on my cell when I go into work tomorrow.
I know it shouldn't be something that matters so much, but I'm a kind of obsessive person about accuracy, especially when it comes to height.

Yeah, upon double checking the two lines I was looking at are far from similar scale.
Didn't think this would be this difficult :X
