I just watched this in full for the first time on the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD, and wow it was just brilliant. First with the lights going out and having RVD and Sabu attack, then followed by The King was just shocking and a real good twist.
Also loved the way how those 3 held off pretty much the entire locker room 1 by 1, that was really good.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I love that it continued all the way to ONS 06 when Lawler still bashed ECW and ended up facing Tazz. Looking back, it was a damn fine storyline although I didn't know what ECW was when I watched it at the time.

Yeah I was getting bootlegs tapes at the time as no ECW in the uK. Was incredible as Lawler had previously bad mouthed ECW & had the pull apart on RAW when ECW invaded but like most I thought that was the extent of it. To see him in an ECW ring was madness, at the time it seemed as big as Flair in WWF & Hall & Nash invading WCW. Of course it ended up just being a build to Dreamer/ Lawler at the PPV but I genuinel;y hoped at the time that wWE was going to do an invasion gimmick there with some of the smaller name but talented undercard wrestlers

Tommy Dreamer also invaded USWA during that time.

Tommy Dreamer also invaded USWA during that time. Yeah, I remember seeing a video of him trashing the USWA set.

Ahhh....Wrestlepalooza '97. One of my favorite shows.
I think the most brilliant part to the whole thing was the ending, where Taz was made to look like the baddest MF'er in the whole place without laying a hand on anyone.
Fonzie pulling Lawler and the troops out of the ring, when it would have still been 3 on 1 was perfect to continue to get Taz over.
No to mention the wonderful cruse filled diatribe that Taz went on immediately afterword and for the rest of the night!!!
"This arena must be made out of toilet paper, cause all I see in it is s**t." is one of my favorite qoutes of all time as well.

Lawler rules. That was awesome. It was also great when Cornette showed up with Lawler the next time he showed up and beat the living daylights out of Dreamer with the tennis racket.
