Commentators: Michael Cole & Tazz
Cole: Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to Friday Night SmackDown! I’m Michael Cole, and here is my partner on commentary, former ECW Champion, Tazz.
Tazz: That’s right Cole, and I have a feeling that this SmackDown! is going to be even better than last weeks.
Cole: Well I don’t know how you can top that, I mean, last week was pretty good.
Tazz: You’re right Cole, but we got the finals of the Race for the Gold Tournament and tonight we’ll crown NEW WWE Tag Team Champions.
Cole: Let’s kick off SmackDown! with the former World Heavyweight Champion, Y2J Chris Jericho with the Highlight Reel.
HIGHLIGHT REEL[/u]
Jericho: All you Jericholics and everyone in between, welcome to THE HIGHLIGHT REEL!! (fans start to chant *Y2J*). Last week, I lost in the WWE Tag Team Title Tournament with my partner Christian Cage, but hey what can you do, London and Kendrick are two great young athletes and they got the best of us. Give ‘em a hand! (fans start to cheer). There was also some interference from JBL. He is nothing more than a coward and an Ass Clown, JBL, you are not a wrestling god, you’re more like a wrestling fraud tubby. Anyways, that’s not why I’m out here. You see, last week, in a United States Title Match, Maven was brutally attacked by his opponent, Eddie Guerrero. (on the titantron, footage was shown from last week) Now everyone is asking, why would Eddie do such a thing? Well, that’s why we have a Highlight Reel right here tonight and my guest at this time, please welcome the former NWA Heavyweight Champion, Eddie Guerrero. (fans start to boo) Well, Eddie, the question on everyone’s mind, why did you do what you did last week? I mean, it was for the United States Championship.
Guerrero: I explained myself last week, Chris. I was upset over getting stripped of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, can’t a guy be upset anymore?
Jericho: Well I understand that, but seriously, all you had to do was probably hit one more Frog Splash and you would’ve been new United States Champion, how does that feel letting that go?
Guerrero: It doesn’t matter to me, ese! I want Mr. McMahon to give me back my World Title, I deserve it!
Jericho: Well, Mr. McMahon has officially done away with the championship, so it’s no longer here in the WWE, but he did give you this, for some reason. Maven went to his office last week and asked Vince for a match with you at Night of Champions just so he could get his hands on you.
Guerrero: You tell that lil punk Maven to bring it on!
Jericho: Why not tell him yourself?
Guerrero turned around and got Closelined by Maven. Maven then went to the top rope and went for the Missile Dropkick, but before he could jump, Eddie rolled out of the ring.
Cole: What a coward Eddie is, Tazz. He can’t even fight his own fight.
Tazz: Yeah, that’s not like Eddie to me, but another match added to Night of Champions, Eddie Guerrero vs. Maven for the United States Championship, that’s gonna be a good one.

We return to SmackDown! with Jericho and Maven talking in the back.
Jericho: You did a great job out there tonight, you showed that you had guts and stood up to Eddie Guerrero. Great job, Maven.
Maven: Thanks, Chris, I just can’t stand that guy running around whining about his title being stripped. Buck up and move on, that’s what I say.
The two were interrupted by Josh Matthews with a message from SmackDown! GM, Mr. McMahon.
Matthews: Sorry to interrupt guy, but I just came from Mr. McMahon’s office and he has put the two of you in action here tonight. Chris Jericho, you’ll be facing off against Eddie Guerrero later on. Maven, you’ll be going one on one with John “Bradshaw” Layfield after this next match.
RACE FOR THE GOLD TOURNAMENT- FINALS

The two men to start the match are Monty Brown and Paul London. The match started with London getting Brown in a Head Lock, but Brown threw him off the ropes. Brown bent over to hit a Big Back Body Drop, but London rolled over his back. Monty turned around and got nailed with a Dropkick, but he didn’t fall. Kendrick tried to somehow run up the front of Brown, but Monty caught him and hit a Powerbomb, both men were down.

Brown went for the Pounce to finish it, but Kendrick moved out of the way. Kendrick then went for a Closeline, but Brown ducked. Brian ran at Monty and Brown hit a Big Back Body Drop. Lashley then notice Paul London getting back up so he hit the Dominator on London to get the win and become NEW WWE Tag Team Champions with Monty Brown!
WINNERS AND NEW WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: BOBBY LASHLEY & MONTY BROWN[/u]
Tazz: What a match up that was, and we now have WWE Tag Team Champions again!
Cole: It’s about time, Bobby Lashley and Monty Brown are the NEW WWE Tag Team Champions, wait a minute, look at the top of the ramp. Nicky and Mikey, what are they doing out here?
Tazz: Maybe they came to do a cheer for them, let’s listen.
Mikey: Congratulations on your victory, Lashley, very impressive, but you still suck at everything you do.
Nicky: Yeah, just like last week, you just got lucky (fans start to boo). Now, last week, Mikey and I told everyone that they would enjoy this week cause we had something special.
Mikey: That’s right and that change on Friday night’s is happening right now!
Mikey and Nicky walked towards the ring at Lashley (Monty was still outside after the Pounce he delivered). All of a sudden, three people came from the crowd and attacked Lashley from behind! It was the 3 Spirit Squad members from ECW, Kenny, Mitch, and Johnny! They started to beat down Lashley in the middle of the ring. Monty tried to get back up, but Nicky nailed him in the head with the mic. All 5 members of the Spirit Squad were now in the ring beating down Lashley. Then all of the threw him up into the air. Then Mikey got back on the mic.
Mikey: You’re all probably saying ‘Wait a minute those 3 are from ECW, there not supposed to be here!’. Well guess what? Their contracts expired on ECW and have signed with SmackDown! to reunite the Spirit Squad in full force, and at Night of Champions, the Spirit Squad will take the WWE Tag Team Titles!
Cole: All 5 of them are back on the same show!! Oh lord, this isn’t going to be good.
Tazz: You know what, Cole? I like these guys, and I have a feeling that they’ll beat Bobby Lashley and Monty Brown at Night of Champions.
Cole: Well they got a good chance cause you know it won’t be 2 on 2. It’ll be 5 on 2 at Night of Champions.

We see Paul London and Brian Kendrick walking back to the locker room when they’re stopped by the Cruiserweight Champion, Gregory Helms.
Helms: Hey boys, tough loss out there, you know, you two aren’t that good, well, nobody really is good compared to the Cruiserweight Champion, Gregory Helms.
London: You know what Helms? I’m tired of you parading around here saying you’re the greatest Cruiserweight Champion ever when the only reason you got the Cruiserweight Title is because the Corporation helped you out when you were with them.
Helms: And?
London: And? When was the last time you defended the title, Helms? When was the last time you even had a match? You don’t deserve to be champion.
Helms: And you think you do?
London: Maybe I do, what are you going to do about it?
Helms: How bout this. Later tonight, if you’re man enough, hop in the ring with me and I’ll show you a true Cruiserweight.
London: You’re on Helms, and to make the stakes even higher, if I win, I get a title shot at Night of Champions, but if I don’t win, Kendrick gets a title shot at Night of Champions.
Helms: Done deal. See you later tonight, chump.
We now see MVP in Mr. McMahon’s locker room.
MVP: My man, Vinny Mac, what’s up man?
McMahon: Hey MVP, just the man I was looking for. What can I do for you?
MVP: Well, seeing as how Kane isn’t here tonight and he won’t be able to run in on any of my matches, how bout you put me on the show dawg.
McMahon: Actually, I was planning to put you on the show tonight. You see, you had an altercation with Kane last week, and well, he relates to someone here on the show who I also want to fight tonight. So tonight, MVP, you’ll be going one on one with The Undertaker!
MVP walks out of Mr. McMahon’s office upset about the news.
Cole: Speaking of Undertaker, there has still been no sign of our World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton.
Tazz: It’s weird without him here Cole, I hope he comes back soon, but right now we got Chris Jericho vs. Eddie Guerrero
CHRIS JERICHO VS. EDDIE GUERRERO[/u]
The match started with Eddie going for a Suplex on Jericho, but Jericho reversed it and went for a Reverse Suplex. Eddie reversed that into a Hurincanrana to stop all the reversals. Eddie hopped on top of Y2J and started punching him in the face until the ref made him stop before the 5 count. Then Eddie got up and scrapped his boot across Jericho’s face. Eddie went for a Northern Lights Suplex, but Jericho stopped him in mid sequence and hit a DDT on the former NWA Heavyweight Champion. Jericho then took Eddie to the corner and started chopping at his chest. Jericho then after a while threw Eddie across to the other corner, but Eddie reversed it, but before Jericho could hit the corner, Y2J flung himself over Eddie to cause him to run into the turnbuckle. Eddie Turned around and got hit with an Enzugari from Jericho.
Jericho then picked Eddie up and nailed him with a Snap Suplex. Jericho ran to the ropes and attempted the Lionsault on Guerrero, but Eddie moved and Jericho landed on his feet only to get knocked off them by Eddie with a Closeline. Eddie then locked on the Texas Clover Leaf (crowd starts to get behind Y2J). Y2J made it to the ropes and Eddie held on until the count of 4. Eddie then hit attempted a Northern Lights Suplex and hit it, but only got a 2 count as Jericho, with all his strength pulled him self up, spun Eddie around and hit a Neckbreaker on Eddie. Jericho waited for Eddie to get to his feet, and when he did, Jericho ran to a rope, jumped off the middle and hit a Dropkick on Guerrero, went for the cover, but only got a 2 count.
Jericho wasted no time as he locked on the Walls of Jericho (fans start to go crazy). Eddie is about to tap out right before he makes it to the bottom rope. Jericho waited for Eddie to get up, and he ran at him with a Closeline, but Eddie ducked and Jericho hit the ref. Jericho turned around and nailed the Code Breaker on Eddie, Eddie was down for the 3, but the ref was still knocked out. Jericho shook the ref to hopefully get him back to his normal state. Jericho turned around and got a Closeline From Hell via interference from JBL the second week in a row. JBL shoved the ref closer to the cover Eddie has on Jericho to make the count for the win.
WINNER: EDDIE GUERRERO[/u]
Cole: JBL screws Jericho again! What is wrong with this guy?!
Tazz: Those two have had beef ever since Jericho came to SmackDown! after WrestleMania, if it’s going for the World Heavyweight Championship, if it’s the Corporation vs. everybody, or it’s just a pure hatred between the two.
Cole: Well, bottom line is JBL has screwed Jericho out of so many matches, when will Y2J retaliate?
Tazz: I would say soon, but the winner here tonight is Eddie Guerrero.
(Commercial)
We come back to SmackDown! with a word from Josh Matthews with Y2J.
Matthews: Chris, what..
Jericho: SHUT YOUR MOUTH!! I already know what you’re going to ask. ‘Why is JBL attacking you?’ You think I know?! Maybe it’s because he’s a prick, that might be it I don’t know! We’ve just never met eye to eye ever since I’ve come to SmackDown! and you know what, I’m tired of him costing me my matches. JBL, watch your back!
Tazz: Man, Jericho is really upset Cole, I’d be careful if I was JBL.
Cole: No kidding, Jericho looks like he wants to kill somebody. Well, up next, Paul London competes here again tonight against Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms, now, if London wins, he goes on to Night of Champions to face Helms for the title, but if he loses, Kendrick goes on to Night of Champions to face Helms.
CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION GREGORY HELMS VS. PAUL LONDON W/ BRIAN KENDRICK[/u]
As soon as the bell rang, London went over and tackled Helms to the ground and unloaded on him. Helms was trying to get up and when he got to his knees, London came at him and Dropkicked him to the chest. Helms slid to the outside to take a break. London bounced off the opposite side and launched himself over the top rope on to Helms. London then stepped up onto the steel steps and did a Moonsault off of them onto Helms. London threw Helms back in the ring. Helms begged him to stop and London hit a Dropsault on Helms to knock him down. London went to the top rope and hit the Shooting Star Press for the win.
WINNER: PAUL LONDON[/u]
Tazz: Woah! It happened so fast! London just embarrassed the Cruiserweight Champion by beating him with ease!
Cole: I didn’t even know London had it in him to do such a thing! That had to be one of the fastest matches I have ever seen! Way to go London!
Tazz: Yeah, now he goes on to Night of Champions to go for the Cruiserweight Title, which if he performed like he did here tonight, it’s as good as his. Let’s head backstage to see Mr. McMahon in his office with Eve.
McMahon: What a match that was huh Eve?
Eve: That was crazy Mr. McMahon, Paul London is not someone to be messed with.
McMahon: No he certainly isn’t. What a great young athlete he is. Well, Eve, I got some work to do, so if you would excuse me.
Eve: Oh, no problem Mr. McMahon, I’ll see you later.
When Eve left, a member of security came in and whispered something in McMahon’s ear and McMahon got a huge smile on his face.
Cole: Oh, I don’t know how to take that smile, in a good way or a bad way.
Tazz: You never know Cole, it may be something good.
We see Helms in the back sulking over a quick loss to Paul London. He walks past Christian Cage and Cage just laughs at him. Then Shannon Moore, the former Cruiserweight Champion, appears.
Moore: You may as well count the days down, you’re not going to be champion much longer.
Helms walked away with anger and disappointment as Cage and Moore just laughed at him as he walked away.

Everyone went nuts for the anticipated return of CM Punk
UNITED STATES CHAMPION MAVEN VS. JOHN “BRADSHAW” LAYFIELD[/u]
The match started with Maven running at JBL and Locking Up in the middle of the ring. JBL pushed his way in the Lock Up to the ropes, but Maven pushed back and broke the hold and Closelined JBL, Bradshaw got up. Maven hit another one, same thing. Then Maven hit a jumping Closeline to finally take him down. Maven then went to the top rope and hit a Bulldog on JBL (the fans are going crazy for Maven, the craziest they’ve been all night). Maven then waited for JBL to get up and then nailed him with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
Maven then started taunting with the fans and then ran at JBL only to get knocked down with a Big Boot. Both men were down a for a good time. Both men met in the middle of the ring and went back and forth with punches until JBL poked Maven in the eye and then hit a Neckbreaker on the United States Champion. JBL then hit Maven with a Body Slam and then a Leg Drop and went for the cover but only got a 2 count. JBL then took Maven to the corner and went up with him. JBL went for the second rope Fall Away Slam but Maven reversed it into a Arm Drag that threw JBL across the ring. Maven then waited on the top rope and hit the Missile Dropkick on JBL but only got a 2 count.
Maven then took JBL to a corner and started hitting him in the head. Before Maven could get to 10, JBL grabbed him and hit a Powerbomb on Maven. JBL went for the cover, but only got a 2 count (the fans went crazy). JBL didn’t know what to do. JBL went for another Powerbomb, but Maven flipped him over his back. Maven then went for the M-Plosion, but JBL shook out of it and hit a Bulldog. JBL then brought Maven back up and hit Snake Eyes on the United States Champion. JBL ran at him and went for the Closeline From Hell, but Maven hit a Drop Toe Hold. Maven ran to the top rope and hit the Halo DDT for the win.
WINNER: UNITED STATES CHAMPION MAVEN[/u]
Cole: What an amazing match! That was the match of the night, and what made it even better is that Maven won!
Tazz: Listen to this crowd, Cole! I haven’t heard them this loud in a long time! I think someone is liked here on SmackDown!.
Cole: What a match! What a well deserved win for Maven here tonight!
We head backstage to see MVP pacing back and forth in the hallway.
We come back to SmackDown! to see MVP in the hallway whining about his match with The Undertaker in the mainevent.
MVP: Why me, man? WHY ME?! Why do I have to face the Deadman tonight?! The guy’s already pissed of and creepy enough, why do I gotta fight him?!
All of a sudden, the lights start to flicker and you hear Kane and Undertaker laughing as we go to commercial break.

DON'T MISS OUT ON NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS WITH THE UNDERTAKER VS. RANDY ORTON FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
We see JBL walking back to the locker room when he is suddenly attacked by Jericho. Jericho just starts stomping on his head and just hitting him all over.
Jericho: You wanna hit me from behind, huh?! You wanna cost me my matches?! Now you’re going to pay JBL, THE WORST IS YET TO COME!
Tazz: It’s about time Jericho fought back, and it looks like JBL couldn’t handle it.
Cole: Good for Jericho, JBL has screwed him out of so many matches, it’s ridiculous. Well up next is MVP vs. The Undertaker, now ladies and gentlemen, even though Undertaker is coming out with the World Heavyweight Championship, he really isn’t. The World Heavyweight Champion still is Randy Orton.
MVP VS. THE UNDERTAKER[/u]
The match starts with a Lock Up but MVP gets out of it because he’s a little too freaked out. He goes for another Lock Up, but again he breaks off cause he’s scared. Then the third Lock Up, MVP knees Undertaker in the gut and hits a DDT. MVP is taunting and is all proud of himself, but Undertaker sits right up. MVP tried to throw Taker off the ropes, but Taker threw MVP off the ropes. Taker bent over for a Big Back Body Drop, but MVP kicked him and Undertaker came up and gave MVP a death stare. Taker threw MVP off the ropes and hit a Flying Closeline on the highest paid superstar in history. Undertaker knocked MVP back down on the ground with an Uppercut.
Undertaker then took MVP over to the corner and hit Old School on him. Taker ran across the ring and went for a Big Boot, but MVP ducked and put on a fully body Sleeper Hold. MVP managed to get The Deadman down to one knee before Taker rammed MVP into the corner. Undertaker then ran at MVP and went for a Big Boot in the corner, but MVP moved at the last second and just unloaded on The Undertaker with lefts and right. MVP then took Taker up and hit a Superplex on The Phenom. MVP waited for The Undertaker to get to his knees and he went for the Drive By, but Undertaker moved and MVP turned around and got hit with a Chokeslam. The Undertaker went for the Last Ride, but MVP slid off his back and hit the Play Maker and Undertaker kicked out (the fans went nuts).
MVP went over to the ref and argued about the count. MVP turned around and finally got nailed with a Big Boot from The Undertaker. Undertaker then grabs MVP and hits the Last Ride. Undertaker taunts the crowd to show that the match is close to being over. MVP tried to crawl out of the ring, but Undertaker grabbed him and dragged him back in. Undertaker then lifted MVP up and hit the Tombstone for the win.
WINNER: THE UNDERTAKER[/u]
As soon as the ref made the 3 count, the lights went out as if the show was over, but you could hear a very deep laugh, similar to the ones heard earlier. The lights came back on and the World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton was standing behind The Undertaker. Orton spun him around and nailed The Undertaker with an RKO! (fans started to chant *RKO RKO RKO*).
Cole: There he is!!! He’s finally back!
Tazz: What a way to return after getting put through 3 tables, Cole. Orton has just shown that he is not afraid of defending the World Heavyweight Championship against The Undertaker.
Cole: That’s going to be one hell of a match at Night of Champions. Well, that’s it for us here on SmackDown!. Until next week, for Tazz, I’m Michael Cole, thanks for watching Friday Night SmackDown!.
